Scrappy's Camera Troubles (1937)
A Scrappy from 1937, A year of great and not-so-great cartoons at Columbia. I think I love them all though, somehow.

Scrappy has a fight to end all fights! Heck at least it's a good overall print and the animation is very good. Part of this week's Thunderbean Thursday at cartoonresearch.com. You can also follow the doings of Thunderbean on the Blu-ray forums at Blu-ray.com.

Farmer Al in his last Terrytoon appearance This cartoon was originally in Cinemascope. This old 16mm print is letterboxed a bit maybe one of these days a scope print will show up!
Dinky in Sink or Swim (1952)

Come along with me and document Dinky's inability to do something everyone seems to be able to do, then gets a magic feather object, then get a reward for doing something everyone else is already doing and didn't get a reward for. Hooray for Terrytoons! Scan from a 16mm print.
Pigeon Holed (1956)

A 1956 Lantz cartoon, directed by Alex Lovy. I think it's a pretty fun one, and clearly influenced timing-wise by Avery's tenure at the studio. This is a 35mm IB Technicolor print, with the soundtrack exposed for your interest, just like they're scanned!

Bold King Cole- 35mm IB scan

I know, I know, you've all seen this cartoon a million times.. but here's a scan from the 35mm IB Technicolor master print from UCLA. I'm sharing it because there's actually better news than this print the original successive camera negative exists on this cartoon. See this week's Thunderbean Thursday at cartoonresearch.com for more details....

A Tel-A-Story Films presentation. This oddity is likely produced by Paul N. Peroff, who also produced Jim and Judy in Teleland (1949). This print is courtesy of Tommy Stathes and the Stathes Collection.
The Possum That Didn't (Robert Konikow and Milton Gray, 1972)

This short, based on Frank Tashlin's classic 1950 book, was produced by Pterodactyl productions and released by 16mm educational film distributor Bailey Films. It was directed and animated by Robert Konikow and Milton Gray. This is a scan from a rare 16mm print of the film, with at least decent color (this particular short is hard to find a good print of).

An early cartoon in the Scrappy cartoon series. If you follow these Thunderbean uploads, you know I have an affinity for Scrappy for still unknown reasons.

The reds are very straining, kinda obnoxious compared to thr blue and green.

5:54 So, _what’ll it be, folks?_
Beautiful cartoon. Made me cry. I think it’s the only short film that’s ever made me cry
I love Tom Terrific! ❤
6:36 Hey, I saw that! 😲
Mira que yo no sabia otros Tom y Jerry anteriores a los celeberrimos gato y raton nacidos en 1940😅
Love the voice work and the diabolical quality of this cartoon. Must be Frank Graham doing the excellent "Lionel Stander" impersonation as the wiseguy crow.

The mom's kind of a prick though...
I’m really impressed with the layouts, backgrounds, and the illustrations of all the sculptures! Great, solid cartooning and they effectively captured a classical artistic stone look, as in Harpo Marx’s curly hair. And the one animated character is quite well done. Love the elevator to the mezzanine

Can you find a sound print of Ship Ahoy from 1930 and with the moral at the end please
What does the song of little lulu go?
Here's how it goes: Oh lulu little lulu little lulu with feckals on your skin always in and out out of trouble but mostly always in, using daddy necktie for the tail of your kite, using mommy's lipstick for the letters you write,oh the clock says 7:30 but it's really after 10, looks like lulu's been repairing it agian,oh your wild as any Zulu and your just as hard to tame little lulu I love you-lu just the same (the same) little lulu I love you-lu just the same

Still better than sssniperwolf.
3:07 it took me a moment to get what that was referencing, but then I remembered the USO
It's a caricature of Bob Hope
"animated antic" yet it's full of still images... fascinating...
The first gag about the dice reminded me of the Ellery Queen story “Diamonds In Paradise”, where a thief’s dying message points to where the stolen jewels are hid.💎
One dad joke after another! Priceless
amazing3
What's a cheater?
In this case, just a bunch of backgrounds, but in most cases it's a cheaply assembled cartoon usually with reused footage/animation
@@kingdelbertSeveral Popeye cartoons were made this way.
@@kingdelbertLike what Van Beuren and Screen Gems/Columbia, and later Hanna-Barbera and Filmation tended to do.
Cheap and random enough to qualify as a Screen Gems Phantasy of the same vintage
Oof
wow3
That was a strange one!
I wouldn't be surprised while the seal pup was trying to catch the fish a sailing ship carrying fur trappers dropped anchor and then the hunters proceeded to shoot up a storm with the joyful marine mammals flee in different directions to safety!!
Wow this is really funny! I'm surprised that the Fox and the Crow cartoons aren't more well known.
Awesome!
I wonder if any of these displays still exist?
I love the vivid vibrant colors!
i've been a fan of this character since the second grade, and this is my first time seeing a racist Little Lulu cartoon. This is also my first time seeing a Lulu cartoon in such great quality. . .. Take the bad with the good, i suppose.
This isn't just "Porky's Hare Hunt" or "Rabid Hunters". This short is titled " _THE_ Rabbit Hunt", so my expectations are very high.
Fluid animation and inventive gags.
Good job, Steve! Keep it up!
Frequency of Commercial breaks is just ridiculous and it's the every time..... won't be watching any more
Ah, so this is where the Grinch got his slithering motion from.
