Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure - VHS Review - Too Many Tapes
Watch the film on my second channel: ruclips.net/video/MH8y_6AT9Y4/видео.html
Baby Huey is a nightmare in Harvey Comic and animated form, but somehow even worse as a live-action character.
This slapdash feature-length monstrosity from director/actor Stephen Furst is... a little bit more, though. When you push beyond the surface-level aesthetic unpleasantness of it, you notice its cast is stacked with stars of 70s and 80s television. Stars who, in the 90s, had become somewhat down on their luck like Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady, The Brady Bunch), David Lander (Squiggy, Laverne and Shirley), and Harvey Korman (The Carol Burnett Show, Blazing Saddles). Even washed-up stars have to eat, you ...

UHF at 35 and the Weird Al Cinematic Universe

#UHF #weirdalyankovic #weirdal ALERT: I do, in fact, consume a Twinkie Weiner Sandwich on-camera in this one. Make of that what you will. UHF turns 35 this year. I do too. Though Weird Al's cinematic aspirations were met with a resounding thud in 1989, his classic entry into the Slobs Vs. Snobs genre of the 80s manages to live on and thrive. So on this episode of Too Many Tapes, grab your spatu...
The Beautiful Disaster of Madame Web

#madameweb #hewasintheamazonwithmymomwhenshewasresearchingspidersrightbeforeshedied Sure, the beginning of the year is usually a dump zone for things the studios want us to forget as quickly as humanly possible, but Madame Web - Sony's latest foray into their Spider-Man-less live-action SpiderVerse, will always be remembered as one of the worst - and most compellingly awful - films of all time....
Colby's Missing Memory (VHS Review)
Просмотров 8612 месяца назад
Colby 2: Colby's Missing Memory was an odd waystation in a long line of attempts to make Colby The Computer a Christian Kid's Media phenomenon. It used the Psalty model (write simple musicals a church can produce on the cheap) and tried to reverse engineer everything that worked (?) about the Rettinos' wacky, haunting blue menace. This feels like a calling card, though - a desperate plea for so...
Going off on Tangents with 'Time Chasers' Director David Giancola

A few years ago, I made a video about one of my favorite B-Movies that Mystery Science Theater 3000 ever covered - Time Chasers. Made in the early 90s for $150,000 by a 19-year-old first-time filmmaker, the movie is a joyous, earnestly silly, and shockingly effective experience that uses its limited budget and enormous ambition to create something that has captured the imagination of cult-movie...

Big Trouble: The Last 90s Movie

Big Trouble came out on April 5, 2002, but it marks the hard end of the 1990s. Delayed because of the September 11th attacks, this silly little comedy about a plane hijacking and a nuclear suitcase bomb was basically scrubbed from the public consciousness. It's not streaming. It's not on blu-ray (anymore), and it's basically forgotten, even though it's filled with stars like Tim Allen, Rene Rus...

Wait a minute, this doesn't look like the Gerbert we all know and love (?). It's actually the pilot episode that launched Gerbert's stratospheric rise to the tip-top of Christian children's media in the late 80s, and it's maybe a bit rough around the edges. Yes, before the strange oblong pumpkin-chicken-nugget look, Gerb was just your average bright-orange muppet-looking thing, and even in this...

I've never understood why Mystery Men flopped. Maybe it was the middling reviews. The thing I find strange is that they made this and I feel like the comic/cartoon incarnation of Huey had more appeal and made more sense than how this big duck was interpreted in this movie. 🦆 Huey's just a big dummy with little to no personality in this weird movie. 😄🤦‍♂️

And I hope the rest of us appreciate the compassionate take on the actors, treating them like human beings instead of solely laughing at the bizarre production choices. Although like you mentioned, there are some very specific, bitter industry references here. For every big star, there are dozens if not hundreds of B-D list actors, a lot of them are talented, kind people. The industry just doesn't require that many people, as such, they are cast onto the altar of VHS and consumed Thank you for touching on the sitcom window foliage. My personal favourite is the tree visible from the Foreman's backyard in that 70s show or the shrubs in the minature house, low budget "exterior" shots in Roseanne

Hi Corey, if you’re looking for a new series of VHS era-related nostalgia films to cover on your channel, I think you would really enjoy the Ralph S. Mouse trilogy from the 80’s (based on the books by Beverly Cleary). My 4th grade teacher had those movies on VHS and always played them for us via a VHS projector against a roll-up canvas background whenever we were rained in for recess. They combine super corny live action with these almost realistic stop-motion animated mice puppets. I thought about the first movie, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, the other day and it reminded me of your channel’s quirky content.

I find it funny that Harvey didn't even create a majority of the characters they cite as their originals. Casper, Hermann and Katnip, Little Audrey and, yes, Baby Huey, were creations of Paramount's post-Fleischer animation studio Famous Pictures. They've been extending the life of forties animated characters they didn't even make lol. Which is why I also sadly assume why Baby Huey got put into this. In spite of what you can say about the 1995 Casper film, the Harvey Comics team hated the implication that Casper, a literal ghost, was written as a dead kid. So a no budget movie they could actually control was probably wanted more than anything.

    • @Antifearn
      @Antifearn 4 часа назад

What I love about the live-action Casper movie is that they took a pretty vanilla, antiquated cartoon character and attempted to give him more depth in character, even if it did end up being a bit creepy in the end. It’s still one of the better, more inspired live-action remakes of classic cartoons alongside that kitschy Rocky and Bullwinkle movie and George of the Jungle. Also, Casper was the first theatrical film to have a fully CGI-animated protagonist, about a month or two before Toy Story came out.

Beakman's World being 1990's? More like loudly vivid 1980's. Beakman's World WAS THE BEST !!! Paul Zaloom and the crew were AMAZING. Beakman's World was an AMAZING TV show, especially in its first season. You can see in the first episode, exactly why I like it. The personalities of the actors is very colorful like me, the set looks very much 1992 style, the set of the show looks very similar to the Nickelodeon show on SNICK known as "Roundhouse", the clothing is very colorful, the lighting of the set is very colorful, sound effects were used to articulate the mood of the show, and the acting style is very colorful. These shows made science simple to understand and very fun to enjoy. This is more of why I say 1992 was the peak of cultural development in civilization. Society and culture has been declining ever since 1992 as a year has ended. Creativity was on the rise in the 1960's and the 1970's, but creativity was very vibrant in the 1980's, and the last vibrant year of creativity was 1992.

Ironically Mascots actually gets close to (and arguably achieves) a happy ending for the winner. He "retires" and successfully opens a new business with his wife. His dad returns to his passion as the local mascot. It's a modest ending to a modest film but one that also makes it a unique inclusion to Guest's other films.

I don't remember the quality of the costume, but my mom may have made it? I do remember, however, that Psalty was played by a teeny tiny lady who taught Jazzercise for a living. Still terrifying because, well...giant anthropomorphic hymnal played by a perpetually chipper woman. As an old person, I firmly believe that the children never left the woods. Blooper managed to get them all to stay, and became an evil cult leader who convinced the children to viciously tear Psalty apart for kindling and/or food. Catharsis takes many forms.
