Who cares about new weapons if they're likely to get added to a pile of broken weak ones? Having limited equipment slots makes it more annoying too.

the worse part is the economy system now. I use to like buying variety of weapons for fun since I had skins for them too, but the economy is so bad, you basically can only afford pistol and save for ak or m4. And pistols are honestly better than anything else most of the time anyways.

Most CS players don't want a "better game", they want the same game. Valve simply listened.

As a ( game that I cannot mention ,lol) player , I think valve just want to bloat the skin market with skins for guns that nobody wants and drive up the price for skins everyone wants.... Let's be honest, if all the weapons were viable, ( most of) you would just stop opening cases after getting a skin for every gun. But now, after opening a case and getting the 17483845746464th nova skin, you just want to trade them all for a deagle and whiff all your shots .....

I have never played CSGO or cs2 only the previous installments , I never had the problems you described here with most weapons for me the mp5 in 1.6 and source is great gun so accurate and so reliable and only costs 1500$ , I gotta say the shotguns are weird the auto shotgun is overall good the other one the 1700$ one is strange sometimes you 1 shot people with it sometimes not its pretty fun to use making you the assault trooper of the team lol , the only complaint I have with older CS games is pistols specifically in 1.6 dual and five seven along with tec9 all were pretty bad. But we have the best CS game ever CS SOURCE it fixed all problems so just play CS source it has the broken sniper rifles (they aren't that great in 1.6) and most importantly you can actually kill people with dual beretta

I'm not a CS player myself, but what caught my interest is the situation with Krieg and AUG you've described. I see that often it's assumed that pro players tested every option, and will use any advantage they can have, so whatever is meta in competitive scene, is actually the best option. But then things like that happen, and it shows that pro scene could just be pretty conservative. I've seen that happening in some other games, although none of those are as old and established as CS.

Actually, some weapons become viable with incremental changes. Best example would be the Dualies!

I like to use the HE as a mini smoke bomb, since the particle effect that HEs leave behind is enough to obfuscate you peaking around a corner for a split second

The esoteric guns aren’t for pros or competitive play, they’re for people who can’t really play too well and want an easier to use, but suboptimal, gun. EDIT: he seems to realize this when he pointed out how TF2 competitive is similar. The variety of guns isn’t for pros, it’s for casual players.

The whole concept of “meta guns” is beyond stupid to me. If your going to have specific guns that you (practically) NEED to use in order to be effective… why are you even including the others? That is fundamentally bad game design. Like, imagine you got picked for a race - and your choices were a dozen different pick-up trucks, and a formula one car. The choice is so blatantly obvious that there might as well NOT be other options. To choose LITERALLY anything else is to actively handicap yourself, so why even have the option?

Honestly, awping isnt that hard if you have good aim and good aimsense, the worst problem is that people mostly play with randoms, which makes it that much harder to be an impact player than when you are playing with a premade team that has good communication

Personally, rather than making a new weapon - CS2 should go back to its roots and allow players to change their models/textures to whatever they want as you could do with C-S:S and C-S1.6; Tired of CZ Auto? Replace it with OTs-33 Pernach or Stechkin APS. D.Eagle would have its extended barrel, varying grips/engravings or perhaps even the R.E.2 variant, or Bren Ten and similar weapons. P226/220 could be replaced with Mk.23 Hush Puppy, S&W pistols and perhaps even Makarov. Five-Seven could be replaced with MP443 or GSh-18 Oh, and don't forget MAC-10 replaced by its BLADE variant (or Seburo CX). That, or replacing P90 with Seburo MN-23. HELL, there were weapon reskins and models for their original counterparts with UV bullets. I guess Underworld made quite the splash back then.

I have no issues with the gun meta. I have issues that the game itself is broken.

There is a thing called economy on cs, and i believe it adds another layer on the gameplay. How is that possible? Cause we have cheap bad weapons and expensive good weapons. Why would you even care about 'full eco', 'half buy', 'eco steal', 'full stack', and all that shit if mp5 was as good as awp or m4?

One thing that should also be noted is that just having a few meta weapons all the time makes the meta as a whole more fragile and more easily exploited when new, strong weapons enter the game. The reason the sg553, revolver, etc became broken at times was not only because they were strong, but because they were strong relative to their respective alternatives. The revolver competed with only the deagle and the sg553 competed only with the ak47. If there was another alternative for these guns the meta wouldnt be as heavily affected by a gun thats just slightly better than the other.

So for a casual player 16:9 is good, considering I want to just casually enjoy the game, and rifiling for me is better on 16:9
