I'm usually advising the victim of the cheating, not the cheaters. In most cases I tell them to nuke the affair, and if possible, make the cheating spouce do it. Throw the AP under the bus. File sx harassment complaint with HR if its a coworker. If the AP is married, make the spouse confess to the other spouse and offer up the evidence for use in a divorce. Find any other ways to betray the AP. Attraction will quickly turn to hate and lashing out, which will lead to the spouse hating the AP. All too often the cheating spouse tries to end it quietly with no repercussions. Its just too easy for the affair to restart, regardless if that was the plan or not. But even if they do stay apart, they will be missing each other, and remembering those hot meetups before they got caught. You can see how that would undermine efforts to rebuild a troubled marriage. Plus, nuking the affair is sweet justice.

As a woman whose husband was preaching the Bible as he was cheating I find some of these reasons a bit selfish. Consider leaving the affair because it’s a sin against God. God first self second. Not because God promised you it would work out. People are fallible, but cheating is about selfishness to your own pain first and looking for external solutions to internal problems. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, at least acknowledge that cheating had nothing to do with your husband and was your own emotional immaturity.

I am 45 days no contact with him. He ghosted me brutally. Idk if he went back to her. He friend requested me at 30 days. I said no contact unless he had a finalized divorce and a year of counseling under his belt.

So what are some tips to make oneself less vulnerable? I can admit I have childhood neglect issues and was perhaps vulnerable to the attention this married man gave me, while he also purposely hid the fact that he was married (is that my fault too?)

Love is a choice. You choose to love everyday whether you feel it or not.

So you'll probably call me a dirtbag. But I was a single guy who'd wear a wedding ring to pick up single women at the bar. So let me explain. Normally women expect men to approach them. And they'll put up multiple barriers during conversation to protect themselves. To say the least, those conversations are often like pulling teeth. As a single guy, if sat at the bar no woman would ever speak to me. Put on a wedding ring, and women will start random conversations with you. It's not because they're trying to hit on you necessary. Women find you none threatening, and start chatting for general conversation reasons. Normally they completely drop their guard, you'll go from a conversation that's pulling teeth, to easy mode. So what ends up happening, they'll find the good traits about you. As a single guy, I'd never get passed the barriers she put in place. As a fake married guy, she'd drop her guard enough to see qualities she wouldn't see otherwise. That's what's happening generally.

We cannot control what our minds think only how we act upon those thoughts. Trying no contact for the second time, it is torture. This was a decades old affair that resurfaced to become an emotional affair and is just as painful as the first time. I am praying.

I think most people commiting the affair are blinded, stubborn in there own mind of what is real. They are too caught up in the excitement and endorphins hormonally that this will last forever especially early on. But how can this last when there is kids involved with your long term partner? My partner took off overseas and is with a man, yet she won't admit to the affair even though she was caught. I even speak to the guy that's with her and sleeping with her. The betrayed will never let the wayward know the extent of their Hurt; first you are not capable of understanding it.
