Similar to Tex - but I like to look at weak player groups on teams that I believe can be good and take some swings. If I believe in the qb but the wr isn’t deep take a couple. If the o line is good but rb isn’t defined or is very top heavy. Take some swings.

Of course you can always try to target the redraft targets, Tyreek, CMC, etc. As Justin talks about in the video, going somewhere in between but mainly with round 10 and on picks (Mostert, Hopkins, etc.) gives you flexibility to go both ways but doesn't leave you with consequences long term if you don't capture the chip!

Depending on the number of starters, and the rest of your roster we might take the deal or we might stay. If you think you can compete next year we might keep Tee. In general we think being a 26 1st we would want a 3rd back too or something to push us over. If you really need to shed points because this is a max PF league we also might be more willing to make this trade. He does not fit the criteria of a cornerstone asset, but if you don't have much else, holding might also make sense. What are your cornerstone assets and what future picks do you have? Also number of starters?

@@Dynoconff Start 9. I have shed points left and right since I know imma tank this year. No “real” cornerstone if I’m being honest. I went heavy on 2024 picks and came up with the following roster: Best young assets for my rebuild is Brock Purdy, Jaden Daniel, JJ McArthury , Tank Dell, Josh Palmer, Doubs, Mims, Brian Thomas, Legette, Malachi Corley, Luke Mccaffrey, Roman Wilson. I ended up Trading Tee Higgins for a 2026 mid 1st and a 2026 3rd. So now I have 3 1st round picks for 2025 & 2026. I have stacked a bunch of backup RBs and QBs to hopefully deal them mid season for draft picks if injuries happen (Jacoby Brisset, Tyrod Taylor, Joe Flacco & Ty Chandler, Charbs, Jaylen Warren, Trey Sermon). I’m not entirely sold on JJ McCarthy so I may deal him eventually for picks or WR/QB upgrade🤷‍♂️ teams a mess 🤣

@rickyc1578 w Can you package palmer and a 3rd for a 2nd? We would certainly be fine selling JJ if you can get good value for him! No need to rush though he should hold value fairly well. We would also probably be looking to sell Warren as soon as he has a good game or to much positive news comes out about him because he could throw your max PF off. Like getting the 1st and 3rd for higgins!

@@Dynoconff Palmer is a player that I feel can have stand alone value especially if he’s the only WR that has chemistry with Herbert. He might join my mid season trading assets. He can maybe net me a 2nd rounder if he has a string of 10+ point games. Definitely might package player/picks for 1st rounders and/or player upgrades. Thanks for tips 👍

Yeah there is definitely a chance you could sell palmer for more later, but we would in general try to move now on a rebuild for two reasons. One, there is also a chance he does not produce and you miss your window before the season starts and two, if he does produce and you get a worse pick waiting to get what you think he is worth because of max pf, what you gain might be worth less than the difference between 1.01 and 1.02 for example. Something to keep in mind, but if you are sure you have 1.01 wrapped up less of a concern!

It depends on the package. We would want a SOLID qb (Herbert, Burrow, Richardson, Lamar, Murray, Caleb) and a 1st plus to start the convo. in a 14 team SF Allen is all that much more valuable as the pretty much locked and loaded QB1 in fantasy. (we expect that to stay the same) If you cannot get that, then we would stay with the 1sts you have and aim for next year.

There is not necessarily one best formula because every league is different, but the basic concept of identifying players who you view as a higher production than their dynasty value (players like this could include Evans, Kupp, Adams, Kirk, Hopkins, etc. at WR) and try to trade a WR you have for that player, and draft capital. Basically all the types of players we mentioned have some risk associated with them either of aging out, being usurped as the 1 on the team, etc. If we were trading Tyreek Hill for example on the other side, we would need at least a 1st and 2nd if late picks, or a 1st with a chance to be early to pull this type of trigger. Even then you can understand going both ways on the deal when competing. This is a generally risky type of process deal, because you might be handing over the pieces your opponents need to win the chip. If you are only starting 10 positional players or fewer, keeping tyreek hill might be better to win the chip the next few years than making this move for a Hopkins type veteran even if you are getting a 1st and 2nd on top of it because the production difference will be that large. There is not really an in a vaccum, but this is the thought porcess we start with after we identify that we can even take the attrition to our team.

This is the cheapest future firsts are gonna be. I’m moving any older assets for youth plus on weaker teams. I want to read what the league is doing and take advantage of any trends I see. If people are spending 2 firsts for middle WR I’m selling my middle WRs. I want to avoid overthinking on good value moves.

Mostly just scrounging the waiver for players with camp hype/open backfields.

I know he was talked about as a sell but i was thinking about downtiering from mcbride for hockenson. I am not really competing and my qb 2 is jj McCarthy/ sam darnold so i sort of want the stacks. Any thoughts

Really appreciate the comment! As a dynasty podcast we are also very worried about liquidity and trade value. We also will take a look at those players, but the question of when they retired vs. When they were last a top 6 TE is probably very different for most of them. Furthermore many of these guys are true outliers, which we will admit Kelce certainly can be too. We don't even necessarily doubt Kelce's ability, just the likelihood of him being saved somewhat for the playoffs since they have more weapons and are so good. On the younger guys, we will admit we are slightly agist, but that's because we love trading. 90% of my rosters turn over every two year so I like to have players every team is interested in not just a few. That being said, my most rostered non waver wire pickup is Kelce. It's because he is available cheaper. Thanks again for the comment, Justin

Depending on how you value Coleman, this is absolutely the structure of a deal we would make. Coleman by some people is valued around a late 1st (we have seen him go 1.10 in some leagues). We would probably want instead a 25 1st in return. We would look to structure the deal something like this: McBride and the 25 1st for Laporta and a 25 3rd. We would consider this an absolute smash then. We do not think we are smart enough to know which of these young studs will be the better TE this year, so that is why we bucket them in tiers. If you are really high on Coleman and value him around that late 1st in value then this is also a good deal, but like. I said, we dont. If you watch our WR tier video, you could also target a tier 5 or higher WR in the deal, or a guy you believe in. Conversely, if you think Coleman would be a valuable trade piece in you league you could take this deal, but generally speaking the guy who was highest on him alreaedy drafted him an is now looking to move him, which doesn't inspire confidence in the market. To be clear, I am the team with McBride + Keon currently, so I was actually the one thinking of trading them both away to the owner of Laporta, who said he would accept it if I sent it. I am a little bit higher on Laporta than McBride (maybe partially because I am a big Lions fan lol), but I just find it hard to believe that any rookie TE who was that good will be anything but elite moving forward. I have slight concerns about McBride's target share with MHJ in the fold. As for Keon, I did draft him at the 2.03 in our 10 team league (13th overall), but I am not super committed to him or anything. As for your question, I have been playing dynasty for 3 years now, and I have thankfully not had to rebuild my team yet (3 peat champ in a 3 year league). I am starting to get to the point where my startup players who led me to my championships are aging out a little bit (Tyreek, Davante, Barkley), and am actually thinking about this question a lot. Personally, I am someone who believes that they should be competing for as many playoff spots as possible, and should really be trying to get a 1st round playoff bye whenever they can. Even though there are currently 2 juggernaut teams in my league, I believe that as the probable third best team, anything can happen in the playoffs, so I should give it a shot. The point I might start to consider rebuilding completely was when I felt that I was either getting too much value to pass up on in a deal (just traded Tyreek because of that), or I feel like I am not likely to make the playoffs anymore. And I also believe that "bottoming out" should only be done when you absolutely have to. In my league, too many teams are looking at the 2 juggernaut teams and thinking "I have no shot at beating that team" so they decide to try to completely tank when they don't need to.

@@Deadeye971 Ahh, well in that case, although we don't believe in Keon, in general the valuation of keon in this deal is likely that of about a 1st or 2 2nds which we are not taking. We might then try to sell just keon and see if you can get a 1st from that owner. we would add a 3rd to keon for the 1st. of course there is always a chance you regret this, but the process would be sound.
