I look for improved circumstances. It could be a coaching hire or being another year removed from injury, but it must be something that adequately explains why a particular player has yet to produce.
Similar to Tex - but I like to look at weak player groups on teams that I believe can be good and take some swings. If I believe in the qb but the wr isn’t deep take a couple. If the o line is good but rb isn’t defined or is very top heavy. Take some swings.
I'm thinking about swapping TE Kmet and WR C.Watson for TE Hockerson in the TE premium league 1.75. With Kittle as my only other TE, I'm keen on getting Hockerson even with his injury. Yet, being a contender, I'm hesitant about whether this trade is the best decision.
Number of starters is slightly relevant, but honestly, Watson and Kmet are likely to be pretty much replaceable, so we would likely make this deal even as a contender.
Breakout candidates seems harder and harder every year because there are so many experts who will prop guys up…whereas before it was a little more exciting like someone calling Brandon Marshall baby TO was exciting so I got my shares. Around this time of the year I’m just targeting backfields, backup RBs, or maybe a rebound player. I’m not expecting much but I’ll buy Christian Watson or Quentin Johnston cheap (like a future 3rd at the most) I do go heavy at week 1,2 blind bidding waivers- last year i did get some Pukas which was exciting but I was also burned by some Tutu Atwells. I don’t go crazy for preseason action right now - I typically wait for week 1 or 2 to pounce. Last year someone Malik Cunningham’s preseason and gave me a 2024 2nd for him. So if waivers are active during the offseason I’ll submit claims on those preseason hype or training camp hype guys and look to flip.
