Model Railroad and Prototype video's
Railfanning Chicago 7/22-25/24
My good friend Jim Kleeman and I visited Chicago last Monday-Thursday. We videoed and took what seemed like a zillion photos. I alone shot 114 videos! I decided to include all of the videos I took so the post is well over an hour. As you will see in the post we saw freight and passenger trains. At Elmhurst it was almost like streetcars with one train after another. We did have a strange encounter when a person collapsed onto the sidewalk in LaGrange. Jim attended to him while the EMT's were on the way. They arrived within minutes and knew who the person was. I guess he was a frequently flyer. Hope you enjoy.

Model Railroad Layouts: Western Maryland/ Chessie System Layout Update 6/1/24
Просмотров 9222 месяца назад
Just a short update on my layout. Most of the improvements consist of adding Woodland Scenics Hedgerows. I also changed the industry adjacent to the helix to a beer distributor and now have one track enter the building. As I mention I an not sure what type on industry to have the adjacent industry track serve. The is not much room there for a building. Take care everyone!

My round robin group had the privilege to attend an operating session on Larry's layout this past Tuesday. We had a great time! The layout is very impressive and his track work is perfect. We had so much fun that Larry has become a member of our group. Sorry about that Larry! To the viewers I am also sorry you were exposed to Joe's face close up.
Model Railroading How to: Painting Rail and Ballasting Lincoln Yard
Просмотров 7334 месяца назад
You are probably tired of seeing me and Brian so I thought I would post this video. About a month ago I started painting the rail, weathering ties and ballasting Lincoln Yard. I show the procedures and materials I used. Turned out pretty good in my opinion. I still want to weather the locomotive servicing track buy adding oil streaks between the rails and adding static grass to the industrial s...
Model Railroading Past and Future Part 2 - Plastics
Просмотров 2764 месяца назад
In Part 2 we discuss the industry move to plastics and 3D printing. As per usual I did not get to say much (lol) but have added my 2 cents in after Brian's discussion. It is really an example of what plastics have done for the hobby. Hope you enjoy.
Model Railroading Past and Future Part 1 - Introduction
Просмотров 3014 месяца назад
I know you all are tired of seeing me and Brian's ugly mugs but.... We decided to sit down together and discuss how the model railroad world has changed in our lifetime. It is very informative and entertaining in my opinion. It will be a 5 part series with relatively short videos. The main goal of the series is to let new model railroaders understand just how far the hobby has progressed in the...

Back on November 20th of last year Brian and I discussed this subject. I am just now getting around to posting it. Brian makes a lot of good points about sound. As always I have a great time discussing model railroading with Brian. We are scheduled this coming Wednesday to discuss the five most significant things that have occurred in the model railroading realm since we have been in the hobby....

Our White Rose Hobbies Train Show Team went up to Springfield MA. to attend the show. We were so busy I really never had time to visit all of the layouts. I managed to get four of them but unfortunately did not get my friends the Four County Society of Model Engineers layout which won the Best in Show award. I will see them this coming weekend at the Great Scale Train Show in Timonium MD were I...
Using trees to create depth & January 2024 Layout Update

Happy New Year everyone. Today we received some sad news Hatton's the UK company who purchased M.B. Klein/Model Train Stuff announced they were closing their business. This is not a good thing for the industry which is under duress already. It should help the remaining model railroad businesses but for how long is the question. We modelers need to continue to support the remaining model railroa...

Part 1 "Givens" discusses the definitions and givens of model railroading such as room size, curvature and various other considerations. Part 2 "Druthers" help define your preferences for style, purpose, and form you'd like to achieve and clarify what is important to ...

Really poor video technique. Get a new microphone setup.
Nice layout, is it modeled on any particular city?
@JamesGregg-n6t I grew up in Skaneatles, NY and my father was very much into model trains. We had a collection of French rail cars, and many of his scenes were European villages in the Alps using paper mache for landscapes and home-made cardboard buildings. I wish I had known Brian was so interested in this passion; my father would have loved to see what Brian has created! I would love to hear from Brian if he feels so inclined.

Great catches there man, you had a lot of good action!
Yes, we did have a bit of divine intervention.
At Elmhurst you were at the "Racetrack" triple track. OPJ
Yes.
Actually The Racetrack was Western Springs on the BNSF. Elmhurst is on the UP.
I love the heft of O scale - it's so apparent when the trains move. I also am drooling over that wagon-top B&O boxcar! I wish they were a ubiquitous offering in HO scale.
I don't like your filming at all, it takes away the interest of the RR!😂
How about a. Tour 1st?
what a beautiful layout. I am jealous.
Nice.
Tried something different. Bad decision on my part.
Why is your face in this video. I want to see the layout without your head in the middle of the videoU
The WM....my favorite RR! When I was born we lived just a few blocks from the WM tracks in West Baltimore near Walbrook Jct. Would love to see more of this HUGE layout.
Southern Pacific, roll on, roll on!
Cutting off the gladhands off the cars; you can put a small amount of them scattered around the ballast to represent a air hose change in the field
Great update Fred. I myself have been buying hedgerows. I saw them on your video. WM forever!
Thanks Ted!! WM rules!
That railroad really looking good my friend
Thanks Bro!
@@fredeisen7401 Anytime my friend
Looks really nice…where are you getting those hedge groves from?
They are from Woodland Scenics. Part numbers: TR3581 and TR 3582. We have them in stock at Whiterosehobbies.com
@@fredeisen7401 thanks
Looks like a lot of fun 👍🏻
Yes it is! Thanks for watching.
Hi
Hi
Looks great Fred! I was at the store today and missed seeing you. It was really busy, so I didn’t stay long. I talked with Morris for a while and said hi to Mo, John and Tom.
Sorry I missed you.
@@fredeisen7401 Next week!
Depending on how busy your distributor is, that siding could be for inbound offspot cars if too many get sent in before cars get pulled. Or use it as a transload/team track. Could put a small ramp w/ loading dock, grain or coal pit with conveyor.
Good ideas! Thanks!!
Nice progress
Thanks!
Marx guy here in N.H., very nice and well stocked store. I`m a O gauge vintage tin storer only. Have any Used Marx Junk specials? All the best to you and the store.
We purchased some Marx trains about two weeks ago but a vendor stopped in and bought it all. If we purchase another collection of 'O' gauge with some Marx I will let you know.
After you cut off the trip pin ‘ phone wire makes good air hoses just paint them black with silver tips you can bend them right under the couplers
Rick, thanks for the advice!
Great Video, reminds me of a store that was on Gay street......
Literally this whole layout has no price tag. It’s absolutely a fever dream for any model railroader!!
You really need to see it in person to get the full appreciation of the magnitude and artistry of his layout.
@@fredeisen7401 Man hopefully one day. It’s my absolute dream is to see this layout honestly!!
Me and numerous others helped Howard build the first expansion I believe in 1994. In fact he let us all pick an area and then named it after us. Which was quite an honor.
Great tour. Thanks for sharing this with us all.
Thanks!!
WOW ... 7 Years Ago!!! 😳 ..... Subscribed ... I hope your still running this layout 😁👍
The store looks great. Do you have a HO scale, new, used, or built IHC 650 ton Cheyenne coal bunker? I think the item number was IHC 5000.
Sorry, we don't have that structure.
Looks great Fred!
I’d love to visit, it’s a long drive from northern Arizona. 👍🏻
Visit our web site whiterosehobbies.com. We have another warehouse and the amount of stock we have is amazing. Although it takes an additional day for us to ship from our store.
I loved that place when i visited last year
Thanks Luke!!
Also… would love to see your layout ! Do you host visitors?
Yes, I allow visitors.
That’s great! Hpw would I get on touch to arrange ?
I am on Facebook so instant message me.
This is my sons grandfathers layout. It’s very impressive the whole thing!
Beautiful. Where is it at?
Just a GREAT layout! Good camera work Fred...
Is Howard still running trains by himself or does he have budfies helping now. I know he's up there in age and has bad back.
Howard has not really ever run his railroad. Mostly other trusted friends do that. Howard is 85 years old and has some health issues and does not go downstairs to the layout very often. Al Puglesie, Andre and Alex have been routinely visiting the layout and providing maintenance. That are also updating the rolling stock to NMRA standards and adjusting coupler heights to make the layout perform better.
Looking good 👍🏻
Promo_SM 👍
Wow, what a great layout. Hopefully you get over there again for some more running and videos. How big is the layout and does he have a RUclips channel?
He is in my round robin group so will be there again in a month or so. The layout is 33' square. Thanks for watching.
Wow! O could watch more of this! Very nice layout!
Nice trains and layout.
I will be shooting more video of his layout in the future. Thanks for watching.
Larry thanks you for the kind words.

Nice layout! I had a lot of fun running trains on Larry's rail road
