V-log is only bad for low light. As for the dynamic range, as far as I know, the range is better in log profiles than in regular profiles. For example, try setting the zebra on your camera to 100 percent in a regular profile and see when you start losing information. Then switch to V-log, and you will see that the zebra disappears because the dynamic range is greater.

@@GEXAR no. The curve of v log is more near the uman eyes. Other profile is more contrast (the zebra tell this). The sensor dynamic range is the same. Another problem with v log is V gamut; is large more of the rec709. If you haven't a monitor with adobe rgb 1998 or more you don't see the real color..

Sony is newer and better in almost everything. The advantages of GX85 are IBIS and price.

I didn't quite understand the question, but ninja 5 should record what you selected on the HDMI output of the camera. There is a choice of 420 and 422 modes.

If you compare the same videos with the settings in your camera 420 and 422. In both cases, the video will be from ninja 5 in 422, but I don’t know whether these settings affect the final quality. This is a great first camera. Of course, it depends on the tasks, but most likely you don’t yet know exactly what you need. When I bought my first camera, I also didn’t know what I wanted.

Depends on the profile, I have a video about it. ISO removes up to 10,000 profiles in the standard without problems, if we are talking about the S5II, then it works worse there.

In early July, the ZV-E10 II will be released; There will be an a6700 sensor and an a7s3 processor (120 fps without crop and other cool features were promised). The camera will cost about 800-900. If I were you, I'd wait for the official announcement if you haven't bought the a6700 yet.

😆😆 I had to read it twice to catch the sarcasm, very subtle. Yes, the autofocus on older Panasonic cameras is terrible, but starting with the S5II, it’s great. I’d wait for the release of the ZV-E10II; it would be frustrating to spend twice as much for similar capabilities(a6700).

Thanks for the comment. I also noticed that often on the S5, when the zebra is set to 100 percent and theoretically there should be no information in those areas, I come home and see that there actually is information there.

These are personal preferences of everyone, below there is an opposite comment about who likes the photos taken on 6400/6600 more. I work more with video, so for me the new video and camera autofocus capabilities are more noticeable than photos.

You might also consider Lumix S5II if size is not your main criterion. This is a fullframe. The Panasonic G9 II looks pretty good if, but it's an MTF system with a small sensor. Sony certainly has an advantage in AF and AI innovation, but prices are usually higher for their products than for lumix.

What lens did you try with?

Thanks for the comment. I don't know why, but when I have this camera in my hands, I feel like shooting animals, specifically in video rather than photos. Perhaps it's because of the additional crop in slow-motion video. Such a style really relaxes me.

@@GEXAR Hi indeed, I purchased the A6700 despite knowing it has such poor frame rate. The redeeming factor was 4k 120fps. What surprised me was how significantly sharper images I could get from my stills compared to the A6600.

I think it is a very good "Dad" camera: Easy to take along on family vacations and the autofoucs is reliable enough to keep up with the kids. Plus Sony has enough lenses to get "professional" results when yoiu need them, whatever that means. (I have seen some beautiful wildlife / birds in flight photos taken with the a6300). And the price is certainly competitive. I guess if I were in to street photography, having a camera like an a6700 would be less intimidating than hauling around a much bigger camera.

Yes the camera is cool. I also absolutely agree about the lenses. And the fact that Sony has one mount for two camera systems is simply fantastic. I cut out 2 parts from the video, one was about unjustified criticism of the camera. People compare it to top Sony cameras when it should be compared within its own line, and if you look at this one like that, the result is huge.

Is it possible that something is wrong with your monitor or the colors are displayed differently in the video editor? My colors look the same, except with lower quality on RUclips due to compression. I'm using a regular H264 codec. There is also an article on RUclips about recommendations for videos, all the information is there.

@@GEXAR I shoot video 25 fps, 4k, H264 4:2:2. Davinci and monitor are set to Rec709. Also, the video export is within the norm of RUclips's recommendations. The reason may be the VP9 video processor used by RUclips. "VP9's main profile supports only 8-bit color depth at 4:2:0 chroma subsampling levels, but its profiles include support for deeper color and the full range of chroma subsampling modes."

You're right, I actually meant other camera systems, not Sony. The main idea is that people want the features of a top-end Sony photo or video camera for this price, and forget that this is a hybrid, and some sacrifices must be made. Hi, I think I would use a high frame rate of 50-60 fps to make the video smoother and allow for slow motion in post-production if needed. Additionally, I would opt for a wide lens, 24mm or wider. I'd also go with the standard profile (with reduced contrasts and saturation).

Yes, like many older lumix cameras. 4k is usually good because of the good bitrate, but FHD is a trash.

For most tasks, 30 minutes is enough. It's strange-I thought they were identical. I searched for information, and everything points to this: "The Panasonic GX80 and GX85 are essentially the same camera, with the main difference being regional branding."

@@GEXAR no, not effective anymore since gh5 i think. But its not possible to update it seems. Maybe they put some hardware in there to stop it? anyhow i printed the whole internet on a needle printer and nowhere is a dot where anyone managed to convert it.

Yes, the quality is cool, I think because there was enough light and I shot at minimum ISO. I plan to then make an “entertaining video” where I will shoot with this camera and with a camera that is about 10 times more expensive (Lumix S5 or S5ii) and let’s see if the audience can guess which camera is which.

I had a G85, and I think it's a better camera than the GX85 if you're shooting video, thanks to its microphone output and weather-sealed body. The difference in bokeh between full-frame (FF) and Micro Four Thirds (MFT) is about 2 stops, meaning if you want the same bokeh as on an S5 with an F2.8 lens, you need an F1.4 lens on an MFT. The choice of lenses is limited here, though, to be honest.

In my country, cameras and lenses sometimes pop up at great prices, but they get snapped up quickly (I buy them too). I messaged a seller on the marketplace almost an hour after he listed a camera, and by the time I arrived, he said 4 other people had already inquired about buying it. A month ago, there was a Lumix G7 for sale with a kit lens for just 180 euros! I missed out on buying it because I hesitated too long.

I like the design of the Sony FX series and the fact that Sony has good autofocus and always has innovations. I like the colors, video quality, menu, and everything else about Lumix. As far as I know, Canon is the most expensive (but you can find a huge variety of lenses there at different prices), then comes Sony, and Panasonic is last.
