I would have watched a spin-off featuring Angel & Spike. Just a half-hour light comedy where they solve crimes and bicker together. Like an old married couple. Even as a vampire, Spike had the soul of a poet - figurately speaking. It was like he was a kind of unique vampire with just a little bit of actual soul left, before he was totally reinsouled.. It's why he could understand Buffy during her depression in S6. I miss the show, and this was a fun video. Thx.

Was Stars Hollow High a potential spin-off? I found it odd that Dean, Jess, and Lane went to the same school, but Dean and Jess never fought in school or shared a class or something.

The aesthetics are beautiful. I think they had Alice in Wonderland in mind when they designed the set. The letter game, the human polo, the dress Rory wears, Finn's behavior - I think the intention was to show Rory falling into another world with different and bizarre rules. I agree with you in everything you said and it is a very beautiful thought. I think that in general the series is not good at writing drama. It is fun and funny, but in long or dramatic storylines it fails miserably. Each time she rocks the boat and makes telenovela moves to create power drama, then doesn't sink her teeth into them. For example: Lorelai is dating Max, Rory's teacher - Rory gets used to it in a second. (Good drama: to show the struggle it creates for her). Lorelai runs away from Max before the wedding. No response. (Good drama: show Max's emotional reaction to this, show Rory's emotional reaction to this). Lorelai marries Christopher(!) after many years, divorces, again, no response (Rory is upset that she wasn't invited to the wedding but not upset that the opportunity to be part of a whole family was taken away from her). Rory feels insecure about what Mitchum said - there is a lot of reaction against Mitchum, and also against the decision to drop Yale, but *nobody* not Lorelai, not her grandparents, not Logan, not Lane, no one talks to her about how that she feels and gives her tools to deal with it. Lorelai and Luke both have a fear of commitment but they never talk about it. No one talks to Lane about the difficult situation she found herself in at the end of the show, and how to deal with it. There are probably more examples, but you get the idea. Relative to a program where there is so much talk, every time there is something real to talk about they run away in the other direction. It really annoyed me in the first few seasons until I realized that I should just lower my expectations on this issue. On the other hand, in Buffy - they don't let a single drop of blood spill without noticing ;) There is wonderful drama writing, and a demon always appears to show us what our heroes are dealing with on the inside.

The actor who plays Richard is very likeable and full of charm, so this is the impression that is etched in the memory. But with another actor we would easily see that by the way the character is written he is not a good person.

It annoys me how several times in the shows (Mrs. Kim, Bau) Lorelai is treated as a slut just because she is single, beautiful and dresses a bit sexy. It's really misogyny and it pisses me off that Lorelai went along with it and didn't put them in their place. As for your opinions - that's what you have a RUclips channel for!

  • @Nof-u1f
    @Nof-u1f День назад

It upsets me how forgiving the show was to Mrs. Kim. She was much worse than Emily Gilmore, did not accept Lane as she was, the girl has to live in a closets for god sake! She was extremely cold and streaked and limited her freedom and her ambitions. She locked her at the house for months without any contact to the other world, simply for drink one beer and play in a band! That's children abuse. She had no choice in life there but to go to a religious college or marry a Korean. Because of this, Laine had no high education and no opportunity to learn a profession, and she also had no sexual education. This led her to a dead end that was presented too brightly in the series, when in reality it is more likely that Lane would have sunk into a heavy depression. All she wanted was to engage in music and experience things beyond her narrow world and she didn't get that. She is stuck with a baby and an unsuitable partner, without any professional fulfillment, just because she did not receive sufficient guidance and support. I'm very frustrated that Rory and Lorelai don't see this and don't help her get on the right track, especially Lorelai with all her experience. I think the show underestimates what Lane is dealing with. Her home life is very difficult, she does not receive any love, approval or horizon for the future and has to hide her real self constantly. Her life is a tragedy and it doesn't get better at the end of the show, they try to present it as a small compromise and it's even more infuriating. She got the plot line that's was planned for Rory, if it was Rory it was happends to her at the time no one would let it slide like that.

What Lane really should have done was leave Stars Hollow, move to New York, and play in several different bands in clubs. I don't care who she ends up with, even if she married Dave and bore him twins it would be about as frustrating. It frustrates me that she wanted so much to be free, and as soon as she grows up she doesn't dare to exercise this freedom, and that's not believable for the character in my opinion. Besides, I am very upset that in all the programs the possibility of abortion was not mentioned. It's clear to me that Lane should have had an abortion when she found out she got pregnant the first time she ever had sex. She is so unprepared for it and is not interested in it and it is sad that the possibility of an abortion is not even raised. Of course, in all the programs born from an unwanted pregnancy, the word abortion is not mentioned and it is very jarring. I would love for you to make a video about it.

Why is Paris friends with Rory is a more correct question. In real life Paris wouldnt have never paid much attention to her. Rory was lonely, isolated, lost and confused, late in the season, she got to much against her that Paris wouldnt be interested in her anyway.

Interesting offer. Riley is really a boring character, but in my opinion any character that would have been put in the "solid, decent, good guy" slot would not have chemistry with Buffy. That's just not her type. The psychology of her character is very well built through her parents' divorce, her father's abandonment and the feeling that it is her fault. So there is a hole there that she will always have to fill and indeed she always chooses types that cannot be trusted, like Angel and Parker. You see how she gets attached to Parker within 2 episodes because he fits this mold exactly, compared to Riley who after a season and a half is not attached. Even before when she went out with Scott Hope for example (who was described by her with the words "nice solid guy") he did nothing to her. The problem is built into the character's psychology and is hard to get around. I would actually pair Buffy with a type like Owen from the first season, a popular guy that many girls have an eye on, but who also has an introverted and sensitive side. She feels out of place in college and he is the king of the class. Someone who is comfortable in college, who has a social life, who is good at school and doesn't chase after Buffy right away. Someone who brings out the "prom queen" hidden inside her and with whom she enjoys being superficial and enjoying a normal social life as she had before she was a slayer. The conflict is that he does not belong in her world as a slayer and this deepens her rift between the worlds until she discovers that he is also a monster hunter. PS You don't have to apologize :)

I never understood the connection between Rory and Logan. They never had a single personal conversation in their entire relationship. Unlike Jess and Dean, who see that they really know Rory, whether it's the books and music she likes, whether it's the relationship with her mother and her family, Logan isn't really involved in Rory's life. In her greatest crises she does not share with him and he neither asks nor is there for her. Starting with what Mitcham told her (which directly implicates him), continue with her dropping off Yale, and cutting off relations with her mother. All this time I was waiting for some kind of intimate conversation where Rory pours her heart out and Logan supports her on these issues, but it didn't happen. With Jess it happens after two minutes. This shows that there was a much greater emotional intimacy between them. Logan doesn't share anything with Rory either. He does not want to talk about the relationship with his father, which is clearly very difficult for him, and many times you see that when he is in a difficult emotional state he prefers to invite his friends and be in a party atmosphere than to be intimate with Rory. From the beginning to the end of the series I was waiting for something to happen that would explain to me what they were doing together, and the truth is that I didn't understand. There is no chemistry between them and certainly no love. I think Rory is fascinated by his status and the world he opens up to her but not by him as a person. Nor does it suit him to choose her, but someone more shiny and sophisticated. If they had to be just the two of them together simply, without events and money, they would find that there is nothing between them.

Honestly it seems like, given how stifling her parents were, that the townhouse was a goal for them to become independent. I think Dean uses it as an excuse to miss things or not be home due to needing to work.

  • @ChelleCullenPotter

I honestly don't think that Rory was at fault with the dinner situation when Logan invited her out. Rory specifically states that she would go only if Marty wanted to and that he clearly didn't, so they would not be going out with Logan. Marty is the one that tells her that they should go and even turns off the TV, clearly indicating that he is alright with going out with Logan and his crew. It was Marty's decision, the ball was in his court, and he bailed on himself by putting himself into this situation where he went out to dinner with a bunch of rich people and could not afford to cover his meal. What was Rory supposed to say to that? She would make him mad by insisting that they stay in her dorm and he would likely accuse her of thinking poorly of his financial status, thereby having them go anyway to prove a point. However, I do agree that Rory was far too comfortable with Marty and that level of familiarity while on they were sitting on the couch was a little much. I barely cuddle my partner that I am married to and have been with for 16 years like that in a common area, let alone my guy friends! For her own sake, I would have suggested putting some distance between them. Also, I despise how the writers in season 7 change Marty so drastically! He's just genuinely terrible.

I am Team Logan for a variety of reasons. While he has his flaws and makes mistakes, he is overall respectful to Rory, and loves her. He sees her for who she is, wishes the Best for her, isn't threatened by her in any way, nor does he consider her lesser than him. Dean and Jess were both uncomfortable with Rory's grandparents (rightfully so), and they were also both uninterested in academia in the way Rory was. Rory working hard to get into Harvard was uncomfortable for Dean, as he felt out of place and inferior. Jess, as intelligent as he is portrayed to be, was a delinquent who struggled to stay out of trouble. Watching the show as an adult, it is easy to see how Dean's idea of a future with a traditional family would have Conflicted with Rory's jet-set reporter dreams. Jess's anger issues, communication problems, and overall lack of personal ambition was something he needed to get over on his own (like when he showed up at Yale to convince Rory to drop her life and run away with him, with no regard for the future). I would like to posit that on some level, as much as she cared for Jess and even Dean, she knew that these relationships had an expiration date. She was less careful in remaining Faithful to either of them, as she romanticizes one while in a relationship with the other. Rory meets Logan as an adult, she sees him as an equal (arguably Unlike Jess and Dean), a fellow Yale graduate, who comes from family money. She is well matched with him because she doesn't care about his family money or prestige or his Name, she just sees him as some Kid (this is what appeals to Logan, who likes that she likes him for him and not his name). Logan is the only boyfriend that she DOESN'T want to cheat on. While she does kiss Jess while dating Logan, it is clear that she has no feelings for Jess, and is just mad at Logan (this doesn't Justify what she did, but it is a testament to Logan being the only boyfriend she isn't Comparing to other men).

I am confused as to the fact that so many people here are more upset about Paris's consenting relationship with an older man than Rory's sleeping with a married Dean. I was Team Dean until he married Lindsay. It is funny that Dean was married, but Rory was actually the one using him to prove that she can have him any time she wants. Asher was respectful of Paris, where the latter relationship between Rory and Dean was nothing but toxic. I 💕 the idea of Lindsay ending up with poor Jamie!

I like Jess the most but I truly think Logan and Rory got to go through the most development together and got to actually grow as people which ultimately only ever failed because "their life plans didn't align" which is the most forced end of a TV relationship I have literally ever seen and it seemingly doesn't line up with how ASP was planning to go about their relationship either judging by their still being together despite far worse circumstances in the Netflix specials which is where ASP got to pick up the mess that the other writers left for her and try to tie a bow on it somehow.

I think Lindsey is a lot like Rory, someone who liked school and did relatively well in it but she's also quite shy and reserved, she starts dating Dean and everything goes well, they're both going to go to the same college that they got into and says she's coming with him I think he does mean they're both going to that university, that is how I read it at least, but then everything changes when he proposes to her, if you've seen the secret life of the American teenager, and ABC family show, there are a lot of similarities between that show and the show when it comes to Dean and Lindsey, in regards to characters like Adrian and Ben or Amy and Ricky, Amy and Ricky had a child and her kind of being forced to be together because of that child, that they had in school, but Ricky has a lot of issues and it takes him a long time to get there, whereas a similar issue happens when there love interests Adrian and Ben get together, they then end up getting pregnant and Adrian's father forces been to marry her and for her to keep the baby, the baby ends up being still born, sorry spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the show, but then that wrecks their marriage and they got married way too young not only that but they didn't really love each other, it all started as revenge for their interest getting back together because they had a child together, so that whole marriage was just a complete disaster, however like I said it was their parents who forced them into it and then when things didn't work out their parents blamed them rather than blaming themselves for forcing their children into that situation, they apologise for it and acknowledge that what they did was wrong, but specifically Adrian's father basically forces her to keep the baby because he's against abortion and then force has been to marry her and then when the baby is still born and their whole marriage falls apart, he then wants them to still stay married even though they didn't even wanna get married in the first place, I'm not saying that this is the same thing as what's happening with and Dean, however I can see the similarities there, where Lindsey started out a lot like Adrian, someone who did well in school and was good at it, with a bright future, Adrian wanting to be a lawyer and Lindsey we don't know what she wanted to do, but then her parents intervened and we don't know if it was Dean's decision to marry her but suggesting that it was and that he forever reason decides to marry her, despite still having feelings for Rory and rushing into it, his feelings for Rory could even be the reason why he proposes to Lindsey we don't know, but it's also possible that maybe her parents pushed him into proposing, either way they get married away too young and too soon while Dean still has feelings for Rory we know this from the episode where he confronts Luke during his bachelor night and ends up drunk and spins the night at Luke's, showing that the whole marriage Lindsey was a huge mistake but he still went through with it anyway, Luke tells Rory not to show up to the wedding but I think she should've because I don't think they should've gone through with it I think that's where everything fell apart at least in my opinion, if she had gone to the wedding then they wouldn't have gotten married and thenthe whole stuff with Dean and Lindsey that happens later on wouldn't have happened. I think it is possible that Lindsey is being pressured by her parents specifically her mother into this marriage life with Dean, they're also some parallels to I believe season one when they are talking about the Don Reid show and Rory dresses up for Dean like Donna Reed, I am drawing parallels to that episode because later when Lindsey is at home cooking dinner for Dean it's a very similar type situation her mother wants her to be the stay at home wife cooking and cleaning while Dean goes to work, the only problem is that they're still in high school and Way too young to have only only one of them work, it seems like Lindsey's mother is pushing her into that life of dropping out of university and staying at home while Dean also drops out and gets a job, having that suburban lifestyle of those small towns, think Gaston from Beauty and the Beast or Anne of Green Gables or things like that where you have the stay at home wife and the man goes off to work, the only problem is that they're just fresh out of high school, again this is just purely might take based on all the watches of the show as well as other shows like the secret life of the American teenager and drawing comparisons in terms of things like the way that their parents behave, pointed out in this video, it's very clear that Lindsey's parents have a huge involvement in her life and Dean's life to the point where in that environment, showing that it was a huge mistake for him to get married to Lindsey and it's probably what pushed her mother into wanting her to have that life her mother wants her to be a stay at home wife and stay at mother she's asking when they're gonna have children she is always around cooking and cleaning trying to teach Lindsey how to cook and clean, she's mentioning how she should've taught Lindsey to cook and clean earlier when she was younger because then she can be the perfect wife 14, playing into that small town life, which again there is nothing wrong with, it just seems like that wasn't something that Dean wanted and then he even mentioned to Luke how he's stuck in that small town and he can't leave and basically draw a comparison to him and Luke when that's not necessarily true because Luke is not in the same situation but we just see how bitter Dean is to the point where he feels like he's trapped there even after his marriage with Lindsey doesn't work out, obviously that scene I mentioning is from after him and Rory break up, but it seems like he was so connected to Rory that he married Lindsey specifically so he could have a reason to get over worry but then because he still had feelings for her he cheated on Lindsey with Rory and then Rory chose Logan over him he just completely fell apart, I know a lot of people talk about him being the best boyfriend for Rory and how good he was to the beginning and I believe that he was right for her at the point in time that they dated, however just based on how he acts in later seasons, it's clear that he was too attached to her and that he wanted more for his life and he blames her for what happened to his life when a lot of his decisions were obviously his own and some of it isn't his fault a lot of it is which is really unfortunate, he seems to be doing better in the revival, but I have my own personal with the revival in terms of the creator handled certain characters I think he was handled better in the revival like how I think Jess was handled better in the revival, however I think that a lot of mistakes were made throughout the show whether intentionally unintentionally and intentionally it may have to prove a point or show something that was easily brushed over because it wasn't so easily explained as like mentioned here in this video, we don't really see things from Lindsey's point of view and even Dean we don't really see much from his point of view either, it's mostly from the point of view of characters like the Gilmore girls or their grandparents, so we do see more from Dean than Lindsey, we still don't really know his point of view on a lot of things either and it's just really unfortunate that things ended up the way they did, I still stand by the idea that I think Lindsey's parents really pushed her into that lifestyle and it may have not been something she wanted either which could be why she ran out without talking to felt embarrassed or acted the way she did, it seems like she's under a lot of pressure by her parents as well to live that lifestyle even if it's not something she wants, however we don't know this for sure as we don't get to see things from her point of view, the worst part I think is that her mum then blames Rory for cheating when she really should be blaming Dean and the fact that he got married too soon, but it just goes to show still how much influence Lindsey's mother has over her to the point where she yells at Lorelai and tries to make it all about Rory, when Dean was the one who lied to Rory, Rory is still obviously at fault but Dean also shouldn't have cheated on Lindsey, but he did because he still had feelings for Rory, again showing that he just got married way too early and for the wrong reasons.

Richard is exactly who he needs to be to show the solid coldness and his unwillingness to get hurt by getting close to rory after lorelei broke his heart. U progressively see his heart soften and can't help fall in love with rory and back in love with lorelei. All he is a hurt father. 💔

Rory wouldn't have gotten into a college if it wasn't for Paris since she was orignlly writing about Hillary Clinton

About the revival: I don't why NOBODY gets that Rory doesn't fail professionally. When the revival ends, he's about to publish "Gilmore Girls", that is so obvious is about to be the break through of her carreer, Just as the series was the break through of Amy Palladino's carreer. And the fact that the idea for the book came from Jess, Rory's intelectual soul mate was so sweet. I don't understand why people don't seem to notice that. She's not a failure, she's about to become a successful writer. It's so obvious te me that that was Amy's intended with the hole "gilmore girls" book idea. And the last line: mom, i'm pregnant. Narrative rhyme. Genious.
