I took it that it was an excuse for Lorelai using "you're a Chilton dad" as a barrier. But when a girl truly wants someone, rules suddenly becomes suggestions. lol
On the tiny portions on both of her unsatisfying dates: there is a running theme in Gilmore Girls where food is used to represent emotional fulfilment, so I think the tiny portions represent her dissatisfaction.

Hi! Thank you! A video on the inter-generational trauma is an excellent idea and I believe that this type of video should be made for this show. I do want to talk about serious topics when it comes to this show, but I would like to put in a lot of research and work for that type of video. Once I become more confident in my skills, I will move on to videos covering overarching themes and lessons from the show.
I can't believe I never realized that Rune and Whistler are the same guy! So, them main reason I clicked on this video (other than just enjoying and trying to make my way through your videos) is that I saw you were going to talk about Alex, and I really liked Alex. I thought it was a shame that he just sort of disappeared. He is so underrated, and I'm glad you gave their relationship some thought and some screen-time. Yes, obviously by the time he was introduced, Lorelei was going to end up with Luke, but there's no reason he couldn't have had as much of a role as Jason or Max, or at the very least a real reason for their breakup. I don't have strong feelings on any of the others. Ian Jack was clearly a proto-Max, though I am a little unclear as to why he never looked her up when he came back. The "too young," guy was mostly meant to highlight the Luke and Lorelei of it all, but I had no real issue with him, your headcanon fan-theory about Peyton is interesting. Great video.

I recall "Popular" was on at the same time as "Freaks and Geeks", and most people didn't watch "Freaks and Geeks" back then, so "Popular" was more popular, but now very few people seem to recall "Popular", and "Freaks and Geeks" seems to have become the cult fave. Who knew? It's super weird how that worked out. Both shows were fun to watch in their own ways, in my humble opinion.
True story; I watched "Popular" while it aired primarily because it was on the WB and I think the show was pretty well known at the time given the network. I didn't watch Freaks and Geeks until years later. Some of my friends watched Freaks and Geeks when it aired and I got into it afterwards because of that. Oh interesting! I've only seen a few episodes of the X-Files. It's a weird experience sometimes to have an actor in a very different role, especially if it's just a one-off appearance.
I love doing this, too! When an actor comes on a show, but I know them from somewhere else, I imagine how the characters actually are the same. It's fun :) Oz definitely doesn't mention his parents ever, b/c his Dad is a supervillain, that's bound to mess you up and make your grades slip so much you have to repeat senior year ;) the food theory makes total sense as, her great love - I mean totally just friend - Luke keeps her fed. I think this was a lovely and very original video on Lorelai's love life. Stick what makes you feel comfortable, especially if it leads to such gems as this one, the Cordelia vs. Paris video and the Stars Hollow conspiracy theory! I think if the topics speak to you, you can make them compelling to (most) viewers.
OH MY GOD, your Oz idea, I love it so much! I've always associated Seth Green with those two characters; Dr. Evil's son and Oz. If I ever make a video on Oz (which I hope I will), the Dr. Evil plotline would be really funny to bring in. Thank you for your encouragement regarding video idea topics. I was amused myself when I realized I left him out, I wasn’t sure if I should even go back and mention him but then thought people might chew me out for such a blatant oversight. I saw a theory online about Peyton, saying that he was never interested in Lorelai, shared the wine so she'd leave him alone, went on the date because their moms knew each other, and bored her half to death so there wouldn't be a chance for a second date. That's my headcanon. The only thing ruining it is the Bowie concert but maybe since he's not a dickhead, and he sensed she'd like it, he asked her to go with him?
That’s a really interesting theory! If we apply it, the Bowie concert could work within the narrative. He might have invited her to it knowing that she would decline the invitation after their boring date.

I swear Popular became Glee, Ryan Murphy just took its cancellation and revamped it. the singing quarterback, the unpopular brunette, the disgruntled musical instructor living their glory days through students, etc. My favorite from this list was Alex though. He was a combination of Max and Christopher (kind of) and seemed perfect for Lorelei. He evem got her "Lorelaiisms".

Another thing that I wouldve loved to see is the life as a single mother of Lorelai in the Chilton's parent scene. Usually mothers in high income schools are either VERY invested in the school life or dismissive. And they tend to be very closed to outsiders if not downright rude. At least that's how it is in my area. Married women tend to be overprotective of the kid who they hang out with, if the friend of the kid has a single mother. They dont love much the idea of them being together, as if the single mom somehow would steal their husband. It's messed up IMO, but it does happen. Chilton mom's werent the warmest but they werent rude either IIRC.
In season 4 episode 5, Lorelei tells Rory thats she's never dated before she's only been in relationships and Rory counters Lorelei does the same. The episode seems to agree but I feel like the relationships in this video especially Alex contradict that. So its interesting to see the acknowledgment

I'm usually really good at recognizing actors but alex and beau flew over my head. I did actually catch on to beau and p&r seeing his name in the timestamps before getting to him though. I completed agreed about Alex and was actually kinda bummed when he was just phased out. He's like a better version on Max Medena.
I did not figure out that Alex is played by the same actor as Charlie on Twilight until I started doing research for this video. My mind was blown. But in our defense, that movie did come out a long time ago and that 'stache really makes a difference. 🙂
My opinions aren’t usually normal on fictional characters because well, they’re fictional and they’re existing in a universe with different rules. The actor who plays Ian ALSO played a TRULY creepy serial killer on The X-Files, and i will *never* be able to watch him in any other role without utter terror. Poor guy lol.
Oh interesting! I've only seen a few episodes of the X-Files. It's a weird experience sometimes to have an actor in a very different role, especially if it's just a one-off appearance.

I love doing this, too! When an actor comes on a show, but I know them from somewhere else, I imagine how the characters actually are the same. It's fun :) Oz definitely doesn't mention his parents ever, b/c his Dad is a supervillain, that's bound to mess you up and make your grades slip so much you have to repeat senior year ;)

I think this was a lovely and very original video on Lorelai's love life. Stick what makes you feel comfortable, especially if it leads to such gems as this one, the Cordelia vs. Paris video and the Stars Hollow conspiracy theory! I think if the topics speak to you, you can make them compelling to (most) viewers.
OH MY GOD, your Oz idea, I love it so much! I've always associated Seth Green with those two characters; Dr. Evil's son and Oz. If I ever make a video on Oz (which I hope I will), the Dr. Evil plotline would be really funny to bring in.

So I've watched this show over and over since the mid 2000s and I never picked that Joe was also a waiter 😆 Also loved your crossovers and I'd love to hear more about your theories on Lorelei's bf's and who she should have ended up with. I've watched and re-watched so many times that my opinions have definitely changed over the years.
Thank you! I don’t think I would have caught the fact that Joe is a waiter if I hadn’t been looking at that scene a few minutes earlier. It just so happened that Rune was in the episode with “Joe the waiter” which is how I caught it.

I was amused myself when I realized I left him out, I wasn’t sure if I should even go back and mention him but then thought people might chew me out for such a blatant oversight. The funny thing is, I don’t think I have an opinion on Christopher yet. I have my original impressions from when I last watched the show but with this character, I feel like I have to go back and rewatch his scenes to form a good opinion.

OH MY GOD! I didn't make the connection with being a volume eater and Luke, but now that you say it... my theory almost kind of works. Also, Lorelai's best friend is Sookie. Perhaps she's drawn to people that cook.

I saw a theory online about Peyton, saying that he was never interested in Lorelai, shared the wine so she'd leave him alone, went on the date because their moms knew each other, and bored her half to death so there wouldn't be a chance for a second date. That's my headcanon. The only thing ruining it is the Bowie concert but maybe since he's not a dickhead, and he sensed she'd like it, he asked her to go with him?
That’s a really interesting theory! If we apply it, the Bowie concert could work within the narrative. He might have invited her to it knowing that she would decline the invitation after their boring date.

i dont think Lorelai and Paul would have worked because while you said she has a youthful personality and sense of humor, i think being that she took on so much responsibility and maturity at an incredibly young age and had to be very adult before she even was one, i feel like there's no way she would have been able to put up with someone much younger who hadn't really had the chance to be responsible for much yet in his life. i did think he was sweet though

Another thing that I wouldve loved to see is the life as a single mother of Lorelai in the Chilton's parent scene. Usually mothers in high income schools are either VERY invested in the school life or dismissive. And they tend to be very closed to outsiders if not downright rude. At least that's how it is in my area. Married women tend to be overprotective of the kid who they hang out with, if the friend of the kid has a single mother. They dont love much the idea of them being together, as if the single mom somehow would steal their husband. It's messed up IMO, but it does happen. Chilton mom's werent the warmest but they werent rude either IIRC.

Whister actually was the major season villain in on of the AtS comics seasons. Not fired, but dead at Angel's hands.
In my head canon, I always somehow saw Whistler as a bad guy. I don't know why, maybe because we learn so little about him on Buffy.
In season 4 episode 5, Lorelei tells Rory thats she's never dated before she's only been in relationships and Rory counters Lorelei does the same. The episode seems to agree but I feel like the relationships in this video especially Alex contradict that. So its interesting to see the acknowledgment

I'm usually really good at recognizing actors but alex and beau flew over my head. I did actually catch on to beau and p&r seeing his name in the timestamps before getting to him though. I completed agreed about Alex and was actually kinda bummed when he was just phased out. He's like a better version on Max Medena.
I did not figure out that Alex is played by the same actor as Charlie on Twilight until I started doing research for this video. My mind was blown. But in our defense, that movie did come out a long time ago and that 'stache really makes a difference. 🙂

My opinions aren’t usually normal on fictional characters because well, they’re fictional and they’re existing in a universe with different rules. And the Gilmore Girls universe is nothing but quirky! Therefore explaining Rune’s behavior because of his recent firing is funny and valid if you feel like it! Your videos are like listening in on my friend and I watching shows and babbling on about it.
