Screamin' Eagle FatBoy Return to the Road - Part 4
Continuing on from Part 3 having completed all three oil changes, final work was done to the vent on the gas tank to treat the surface rust before it would be reinstalled back onto the bike. The tank is carefully reinstalled onto the bike along with associated hoses, cables and the gauge cluster.
The bike is then treated to a new air filter. The fuses are re-added and the electrics are closed back up upon final inspection and cleanup. All lights are tested on the console before tightening down.
New gas is added for further testing on the lift. Starting with the fuel priming which sounds correct and shuts properly. As expected it took a few tries for the initial start but it took off. What h...

Continuing from Part 2 we conduct a flush of the rear brake that had just been serviced. This was followed by the front brake to circulate in new oil followed by the clutch as well after the re-installation of the exhaust system. Unlike a cable clutch I cannot simply gauge he throw-out function visually so I jack up the rear wheel to test disengagement. It seemed as though it wasn't working but...
Screamin' Eagle FatBoy Return to the Road - Part 2
Просмотров 8292 месяца назад
Continuing from Part 1 we jump right into the disassembly of the fuel tank components. The fuel pump is removed so that the pump and inside of the tank can be inspected and cleaned. The fuel filter can be easily swapped out at this point. After the work was completed the tank was reassembled. A delivery of parts allowed for the continuation of the project, but first the idle air valve needs to ...

Today we have a 2006 FLSTFSE2 which my friend had purchased and rode for a short time before failing in hot weather. I'd told him not to run it again until I had a chance to look at it, and life got in the way for both of us, but today we finally had it delivered by trailer so we could get this bike back on the road. After cleaning and inspection, preparations were made to check the engine comp...
Shovelhead Rivera Primo Clutch Installation - The best Upgrade yet!!

Seems like I was spending as much time as I was riding the bike. Having tried both the 3 finger a 5 finger setups, and with everyone online quick to blame the late model transmission, I'd decided to take the plunge and simply replace the clutch setup with a better design. Turns out, It was just what the bike needed and well worth the money, not only with regard to the hassle saved, but the savi...

Kuat Bike Rack NV2.0 - Unboxed, Assembled and Reviewed
Просмотров 375Год назад
Today we will be reviewing a 2 bike hitch mount rack that we had purchased for out VW Tiguan. Keeping in mind our need for a rack to support two E-bikes, one being a heavy Velowave Ebike. The other is a light Specialized bike. The project begins with the unboxing and assembly. It would probably be best for two people to assemble this if possible. Once assembled we bring it over to the hitch and...
Shovelhead Engine - Charging System Troubleshoot and Repair

While using my computer to check the mixture of the carbs I started to encounter issues on the way home. It seemed the engine would only stay running if the RPM's remained high. Once home testing could begin. After letting the battery charge, I was surprised to see that the tester showed the system to be in good working order. However as we will come to find that over a short amount of time thi...

With the engine now completely broken in, the compression looking good the jets can now be set up for a final fuel air mixture. Ill be using my LM-2 Sensor to do this, on the bike while riding, capturing the data and reviewing to make changes as appropriate. One of my pipes has been modified for an O2 Bung to accommodate this tester. The installation of the tester on the bike does not look ergo...

Now in the final chapter of the series with the carbs fully assembled onto the silencer, a few hoses have arrived which will go to the fuel pump that will be replaced before we continue. The old ones are original and brittle. After this the pilot screws will be set to their factory specified position as they are currently fully closed. Over at the engine I want to ensure that the throttle linka...
Yamaha 4 Stroke Outboard Engine Carb Rebuild Series - Fuel Pump Rebuild and Test

Having been working on the project to rebuild the carbs of the engine. Debris has been found in the bowls of all four carbs. It seems like a good idea to do a carb rebuild before reinstalling the cabs back onto the engine. Two of the three connections are already removed from the pump from the carb removal so only the input coming from the fuel filter need be removed. Two bolts secure the pump ...

Part four begins with the cleaning of all of the brackets to ensure a good mating surface. There was a large amount of buildup of grime on all surfaces where o-rings meet, After which it was time to swap out the remaining O-rings before assembly. The assembly bolts and washers were also cleaned. The hose I had to cut earlier needed to be replaced and had arrived for this swap-out. One side of t...

this video was a huge help. thank you
I bought an 1980 fhl. It looks like the primary is isolated from the oil pump. I get why it's done, but I like my bikes original, so I'm looking at redoing that. What's your take?
how do you fix the venting issue? i think i have this problem
Well, it ended up being a complete rebuild
Excellent.
Thanks!
Really cool. I looked into that same clutch kit for the same reasons on my shovel, but for the money went with the clutch tamer style kit from V-Twin. I might later go with the diaphragm spring style kit if this one doesn't work out the way I want it to. I've got it installed but haven't test rode it yet due to all the rain we've been having lately. Will be trying it out this evening or tomorrow morning.
There might be other solutions. Anything is better than the original design.
Awesome video.
I have apple car play on my bike, does the app come up in the Apple car play screen so i can monitor my tyres while i am riding ?
Good question. It might be possible if the app supports appearing in CarPlay
This is the only video that shows how to adjust idle speed. Thanks!
You’re welcome
Did you ever find the correct part number for those o-rings? I'm about to do the exact same engine and would really appreciate the real part number thank you
Tried as I did. I did not.
You are brilliant, thanks a million for all your content.
Glad you have enjoyed them.
I had carburator cleaned and gen would not start but using your funnel feed method the gen started immediately indicating fuel delivery problem. Tried again to start w/o the funnel tank and no go. tI then took fuel hose out to a jar and pulled the cord 4 times and not a drop came out again indicating fuel delivery problem from the pump back to tank. But before I embark into the complexity of the pump check and tank filter removal i need to test again because I'm not sure if switch on gen had to be on and the Eco off before starting with Funnel tank. I did not observe this so I need to do again. I did not disconnect any electrical wires as you did which leads me to question how did gen start w/o the electrical wires connected. I would appreciate if you could shoot me a quick answer and also direct me to any video you may have done on removing pump and tank filter. I noticed you have a totally undressed gen which allows you to do many things. I'm not a pro and all I have taken out is the front cover and the carb but for the pump and fuel filters I can see you have to fully undress the gen which may be an additional complex job. Ialso want to comment you on this excellent video its by far the best i have ever seen and has taught me many things specially the funnel tank! Super idea to eliminate checking other areas. I have seen it over 10 times and with cc on so i can stop and read what you say which sometimes I miss. Keep up the good work!
Hands down best instructional video.
Glad it helped!
Great set of videos! Extremely well edited and informative. I’m changing my master cylinder today and these videos are very helpful 👍
Glad to hear that they were helpful
Of course the kickstart is just for show.
That kick start got me out of a lot of trouble many times
Thanks for the info

Thanks!
Great video. How many miles on the bike before replacing?
Hellp great tech. v[deos. Just wanted to ask, where you got the air cleaner cover? I also have a shovel and also what type of air cleaner element. Thanks I'll keep watching for more learning.
😎👍 excellent video one the best videos I’ve ever seen very thorough step-by-step. Great job.
Thanks. Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you for the very detailed series you did on this motor. It is the exact motor I have with very similar problems.
Glad to hear you found the series helpful.
Very easy to follow!
Glad to hear it.
Textbook work. Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Hello friend , this is my motorcycle. I've had it for 27 years, at the moment I'm putting in new wiring among other things. As you can see in the video, of the 4 fuses, the amperage cannot be detected in 2. Can you help me by telling me if all 4 fuses are 15 amps or are any 30 amps? Thank you for your attention . Huh?
fantastic play by play. probably best vid ive ever seen on the subject!!! Thank u!!!
Appreciate that!
Great video but you missed reinstalling the 3rd air intake bolt, the one inside the cleaner to the engine. This bolt is attached first, mounting the intake filter housing to engine, inserting air filters, two remaining bolts then attaching the air filter cover. Other than that you have made a very informative and precise video.

Appreciate it.
Can’t believe you don’t have more views! Your videos are awesome. Clear, detailed and thorough! Thanks!
I don’t have any drama…. Just work. Glad you enjoyed it.
thanks for taking the time to do these .
You’re welcome.
Beautifully executed project. You've inspired me to give mine a good going over this winter.
Glad to hear I’ve inspired someone.
The taller hole with the plunger.. doesnt fill up with oil. Just passes through. Could that be a problem?
I've been into mine this far for a leaking rocker box. I wouldn't go this far without doing those.
Where did you find the parts list for this motor? I'm about to do the carbs on the exact same one. Thank you for this series you definitely put my mind at ease of just how easily this is actually done.
Great video. I subscribed and will be watching more of your videos!
Glad you are enjoying them.
Such a tremendous help. Thank you so much. Just to clarify, the tapping of the ball was with the old one and you did so to insure good seating before putting in the new one?
No, I tapped with a brand new one… then I threw that one away and used another new one as the final check valve ball.
I'll be doing my 2000 night train carb, is it the same carb? 😊
The best repair video I have seen yet. You get right to the point with no BS. I will be looking for more of these, trust me.
Glad it helped
When i test ohms on yhe exciter winding wires it slowly goes down to 0. When i test the voltage there i only get 2-3.
What do you mean . When you say slack in both bolts on one Revolution one at a time. Are torqueing at 15 ft lbs then spinning the gears then setting the final torque ? Thank you. I'm going to be using this video to maintenance my bike.
Great video thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid, man! Greetings from Sweden
Hey, thanks!
Always look forward to your videos.
Glad to hear it!
Excellent guide to taking care of your HD. I have an '03 Fat Boy and this is perfect. Thanks a million!
You’re welcome.

Stock clutch sucks, any Diaphragm clutch works better
True.
Thank you. Obviously. These generators are very complex. Damn
Pretty standard for an inverter generator
Since it is apart, cams, lifters, pushrods and oil pump should have been changed. I have never watch someone re use a o ring. Hope you didn't pinch it😮
Thanks for sharing…
That's a cool running shovelhead under 200 degrees oil temperature. On a 80-90 degree day my shovelhead oil temperature can get up to 230 degrees sometimes touch 235. On a cooler day oil temperature only gets 205-215 degrees. No oil cooler. Shovelheads do make a lot of mechanical engine noise. Mine when up to temperature sounds like sowing machine .
As a rule engines shouldn’t make mechanical noise. That’s called wear…. Also I have an oil cooler installed
That loctite is super important, that nut will be off and your clutch hub behind it. It won't take long.I helped a friend of mine put this on a late shovel. He put on the hub nut, torqued it to spec and we finished the job. We adjusted the clutch, took it around the block a few times, and realized it was not loctited. I took it apart this afternoon, the clutch hub nut required about 10 lbs of torque to remove. Don't forget the loctite.
Indeed…
