- Continuing from Part 1 we jump right into the disassembly of the fuel tank components. The fuel pump is removed so that the pump and inside of the tank can be inspected and cleaned. The fuel filter can be easily swapped out at this point. After the work was completed the tank was reassembled. A delivery of parts allowed for the continuation of the project, but first the idle air valve needs to be removed for cleaning or replacement. The air filter bracket and throttle cables are also removed to remove this valve. The valve was so dirty i could assume that the dirt was blocking it so I opted for cleaning instead of replacement to fix the surging issue. After everything was reassembled the project progressed onto the new spark plugs which were gaped and installed. While back there, all remnants of leaking was cleaned up.
Next came the rear brakes that had almost no pads left. The slip on exhaust was removed for clearance, and the work was complicated by the supplier having the wrong pads for this model in their database. We needed at this point to re-investigate and order new brakes to finish the job.
