Colin was just the worst wet rag ever, I felt like Penelope was way too emotionally instable for someone who has proven to be very cunning and independent already, and the Featherington sisters did indeed deserve more screen time (they are HYSTERICAL, I adore them hahahah) 🤩 As for the Broken Binding rants... you made me go to their page to see if I had just been gaslighting myself into liking their editions... and... yes? Really fair critiques, I have never felt bad about not being a sub (not paying for shipping to the Netherlands, thank you very much). This was a PEAK entertainment vlog, thanks for the fun 🥰

i hadn't seen the greenbone saga special editions and my jaw almost dropped when you put them on screen. not that i didn't believe you before but wow that's reallyyy not what i would be looking for/expecting when spending that much money on a book (immediately thought of percy jackson as well). and yess, justice for mass markets! svsss will be my first mxtx thanks to the alliteration prompt in fantasy bingo lol but also bc friends have said it's really just a fun time

🍵🫖 I agree on your ranting thoughts on Broken Binding Green Bone Saga editions. The clashing art styles made no sense. They look good by themselves, not together. The font style is nearly the same as the OG covers’ fonts. The Broken Binding is too expensive for those designs.

Hi! This is my second year doing r/Fantasy bingo, and I learned A LOT preparing for this year. Tips for newbies! 1) you can totally do a mixed hard mode/regular mode square. Doing hard mode doesn’t get you any additional Reddit flare or anything. 2) Middle grade definitely counts! 3) Hard Mode alliterative title suggestion: Oona Out Of Order. Titles with “The” in the title go against the spirit of the bingo challenge so a title with three Ts and one of those is “The” doesn’t count. 4) if you want to do more than one re-read - go for it! If you are just doing this for yourself and not for the Reddit bragging rights, just don’t submit your card. Or remove it and submit your card with what you have. A lot of people submit cards that aren’t filled. It’s all just for fun. 5) as far as the judges are concerned, any horror books are considered speculative for r/Fantasy bingo, even if there isn’t an actual speculative element to the story. 6) hard mode rec for Dreams: Thornhedge by T.Kingfisher - there is a mundane dream towards the end and it’s a super short, fast read.

As someone who majored in linguistics, I l o a t h e Cultish. She never actually explained how cults/cult leaders used language to lure people into cults. It was all steeped in second-hand knowledge she had from her *dad* being in a cult. Any linguistic knowledge she did use was generic at best, and she never actually delved into the language itself other to say sensational things like "soul cycle can be cult-like" or "calling yourself a glossier gal is cultish". Like, okay. But WHY. She would allude to things and then simply write, "more on that later" but later never actually occurred. It was so frustrating! Lol.

100% agree with The Age of Magical Overthinking. She very much thinks she has something profound to say about literally everything. It's exhausting. She's not all that relatable but she seems to think her experiences are universal. I stopped listening to Sounds Like a Cult over a year ago, I didn't know Isa Medina left!

Yikkesss 87% of the books I read last year were library books/ebooks and I definitely use bookstores as a way to update my holds list. Either that, or I get the audiobook from librofm. I refuse to take the badge of AH! Nobody is wrong for not spending money, especially if the store doesn't offer the product format you want/need! They need to be mad at capitalism for putting the onus of a business's success in the hands of customers who can't even pay their bills 😭

👁👁👁 I have heard mixed things about The Emperor and the Endless Palace because of the mis-marketing. There is a need for a discussion on book marketing and reader expectations not matching which leads to harsher reviews. I heard from a couple reviewers that the book is more of a romantic thriller than romantasy, which intrigues me moreso and led me to purchase a physical copy with an audiobook hold from my library. I'm glad you gave it 5 stars 💚
