"i didn't really like the male narrator but then again what's new?" relatable 🤣🤣

one day I'll accept the fact that male narrators just do not do it for me 🥲

Eeeek, yes Tia Williams is absolutely phenomenal! A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is one of my top reads of the year, loved it even more than Seven Days. And gosh I really need to check out What My Bones Know, I am putting it off for no reason lol. Hope May has treated you well! 🥰

Yeah, I remember how many times I was annoyed and side eyeing the author when I was reading cultish because I was not there for her personal anecdote 😐 glad to watch your video and hear your opinion about The Age of Magical Overthinking 🍦🍦💞💞

i really look back on cultish as a positive reading experience so i was surprised at how negative my review was! i feel like if i read it today it would definitely annoy me more than it did back then

As someone who majored in linguistics, I l o a t h e Cultish. She never actually explained how cults/cult leaders used language to lure people into cults. It was all steeped in second-hand knowledge she had from her *dad* being in a cult. Any linguistic knowledge she did use was generic at best, and she never actually delved into the language itself other to say sensational things like "soul cycle can be cult-like" or "calling yourself a glossier gal is cultish". Like, okay. But WHY. She would allude to things and then simply write, "more on that later" but later never actually occurred.
    It was so frustrating! Lol.

omg haha i love your thoughts on this! when i was reading her new book it really made me question past me's tastes 😂 i'll have to chalk it up to me knowing absolutely nothing about linguistics 🤡

100% agree with The Age of Magical Overthinking. She very much thinks she has something profound to say about literally everything. It's exhausting. She's not all that relatable but she seems to think her experiences are universal. I stopped listening to Sounds Like a Cult over a year ago, I didn't know Isa Medina left!

you nailed it on the head, like I really do think she should've quit while she was ahead with cultish
