I feel we get to see more of Amol's personality in these Christmas specials. Like he feels more comfortable snarking at the adults rather than the stressed out students. It's a lot of fun to watch.

Looks like cricket is not that popular in UK, the questions were fairly easy on the T20 World cup.Anyway this was a good one as the contestants were pretty cool and enjoying themselves.

Something I find hard to understand is how grown adults can think it's funny when they don't know something - I mean, OK, it's a free country, but if that's your attitude, why appear, of all shows, on University Challenge?

The most astonishing thing for me is what all 8 contestants DIDN’T know!

I found these low-scoring celebrities to be less frustrating than normal. They had a bit of banter but stayed awake for the quiz for the most part.

I know the Christmas quiz is only a bit of fun. I was impressed by the first round. But now it has once again degenerated into a lot of giggling kids who can’t even answer a question directly without starting “Is it …..?” In a hesitant manner. I’m amazed that any of these people got a degree, let alone have lived in the real world ever since. Yes, there’s a lot of questions I’ve no idea of the answer but please make a decisive stab at the answer. Amol has the patience of a saint. Much like a child carer has.

The presenters constant “bad luck” to completely wrong answers really grind.

Shout to Tracey Macleod carried the team, looking forward to seeing another dominant performance in the second round. LETSGO

Rachell Mann was the Mann of the hour, absolute brilliant performance. Great facial expressions and demeanor

Barnes is an absolute legend, clutch answers in the 4th quarter. Never sleep on the kid in the leather jacket

Hmmph. As a chemical engineer, Ali took a bit too long to work out Joule. Just saying.

A problem with this format is that closely fought matches like this one, which are highly entertaining, are likely to be low(er) scoring and thus lead to both teams' elimination. Only runaway winners have a chance to reach the semis.

On the whole, I think the better team won. Valiant attempt by Koomson though.

(same reason) =P, GREEN WHITE RED, as soon as Hungary and Italy was said I almost lost my voice =P. OOCYTE, MICROORGANISM, ZOOLOGY!, TRIUMPH!!!!!!!, TRIUMPH!!!! TRIUUUUUUMPH!!!! xD (I love Rome and Italian history). =P
