    Poor Mann. Absolutely carried the team and outdone more by a pretty poor captain and the rest of her own team than she was by the opposition.

      @@kitsunewhiskerDo you have agency? Do you have intelligence? I’m sure you’re capable of covering a portion of your screen with a book or hand before tapping full screen.
      You should go into every one of these videos with the foresight that people will comment on the match and that there will be spoilers. Considering participants of the show offer personal insights and commentary I absolutely don’t want comments disabled. Blaming Cosmic Pumpkin or the comment OP is just weak. Be better!

    Hang on, Jim Carrey starred in "How the Grinch stole Christmas". They said "The grinch who stole christmas" which is close enough. The Host said it was just "The Grinch", but that was the 2018 animated film with Benedict Cumberbatch. BBC should apologise.

      @@Messier45_Pleiades I am not OP, and it would not have occurred to me to associate physical disability with mental acuity off the bat, but one can *possibly* surmise that living with an external disability that sets them apart so much, *can be* mental distracting and emotionally draining to the point of affecting one's long-term intellectual growth. Happily, clearly not, and even if it had done, what of it.

    Considering that a University Challenge rule is that one need only mention the surname of a person (with rare exceptions), one might say Mr Rajah should've accepted the answer Ryan Pidcock (13:07), since the surname was right.
    When asking about the traditional Scandinavian cake, Mr Rajah doesn't ask for the name as it is known in its country of origin but for the name 'by which it is commonly known' (21:40), which makes the contestants think he means the English name.

    • @gooscarguitar
      @gooscarguitar День назад +7

      Correct surname can be accepted in isolation - they're giving the players the benefit of the doubt. But if they say a different first name, then they're referring to a different person. One would not accept "Alan Biden" for the name of the current US president, for example.

    This is one of those matches were I was screaming the whole time =P, Lima, Turrón!, Thoracic!, Liszt!, (But only because I speak spanish and I'm a veterinarian so, I "cheated" there since it's not because I'm better it's just that some questions were designed for any of us xD. Specially hurtful the Turrón one.... because I HATE it (to each its own because my mother loves them, but I despise them so much it was a pain to look at the picture for so long while they didn't answer) xD
    PS: Honorary mention: Monotremes!!!!!!! because back in university I had to send so many papers/essays about them!!! =)
