Thank you for sharing. For the Version 14, It doesn't support standard Midi with Lyrics. After import, It doesn't show the lyric in the score Editor. Does anyway to just copy the lyric on the note pad and paste to score Editor like version 13? I talk to the support team, he told me he still need to research for more about that issue. I would appreciate a lot if you can share the other way copy lyric and paste to the score editor or how the the Midi file contain lyric should show in the score editor. thank you

Thanks so much for running through that. At least we now have a usable score editor. Hopefully, with time, it will get even more like Dorico. Can someone please correct me if I’m wrong: - To go from Cubase to Dorico then one can export it as a xml file or a midi file. To go from Dorico to Cubase, unfortunately, at the moment, there is no import XML option, which only leaves midi, which is not as good.

This new score editor seems much cleaner and simpler. But far from being complete, maybe they want to motivate us to pay for a full Dorico license?

Well Done Andrew. I knew you would figure it all out first. Now this would link to Steinberg Dorico Pro 5 . Right? In the notes and the music written out with all the music notes . They can all be connected and written out. So if you want to copy a full orchestra doing a background piece to harmonize . We can just copy it and paste it with the piece you are currently working on at the time. Right???

So, where did that installation actually put the program files? And where did it put the downloaded libraries? And how do you change these locations after the installation? Very few people keep their huge libraries on the C Drive. (Most have separate HDDs for libraries that are shared between different DAWs.)

I use these alot. Have them mapped to shortcuts I often ctrl A, Q, ctrl f1,f2,f3,f4 then wallah! 🌟 You seem to know alot so I wonder if u could help with one issue. When recording incoming midi from a drum maschin (quantized), I notice the recorded midi doesn’t align to grid. Midi notes are off by milliseconds ex: 0.0.0.99 if i remember correctly. Sonetimes its every other note so I end up requantizing everything but that takes time when using triplets. How can I work around this?

Thanks for taking the time to explain all this. I have just got Halion 7 in Cubase 13 and I am struggling! I can only see the ALL tab in the media bay even though I have installed a number of separate collections which I can access by clicking on the ALL tab so I can see the programs list. I would like to view the separate collection tabs in the media bay - what am I missing?

Wow, Andrew. Good that you found a way for "Chord explode". I think Cubase team should bring "chord explode" in their next Cubase 14 update. It is really helpful.

Great video, thank you. I thought you could use the function "MIDI --> dissolve parts" to achieve this result but that does not work for separating voices of chords so I learned something new, thanks :) I suggest to add "Chord track: Assign voice to notes" (or similar, I'm on the German version) to your macro. That way you don't even need to have a chord track set up and you don't need to activate the follow chord track function.

Indicate transpose button was a life saver. It was driving me crazy after transpose when the midi notes remained the same but the pitches were transposed. This was a life saver if you were going to export to notation software. Thank you for your hard work on creating these videos.

Your vids are always so good. Great info on the explode. And I’d run into the bug you mention where my logical editor presets would only work consistently when I ran them from the window. Thought it was my code. Now I know how to fix them! Sweet!

Its very handy to "solo" a channel that has side-chaining on it without muting the channel that its side-chained to, which would kill the side chain effect.

Very useful video, thanks! I suppose it's just a matter of time before Cubase can follow Baroque style voice leading rules as well along with various user options... Like voice leading quantize.

I wonder why Steinberg got rid of the explosion function. I didn't even know it was there:) I imagine they are programming something better or similar for the future. Hopefully we'll see it again in Cubase 15. Still the best update since I've been in the Cubase world.

Can you set it up to put the midi for the “exploded” tracks on existing tracks underneath the one that you are running the key command on? Like the “orchestrate” feature in studio one’s harmony wizard add on? I’m also trying to create a macro to create “strums” for midi guitar.

The MIDI Pad went backrupt with Cubase Pro.

I will wait till Cubase 15. Nothing here vaguely useful for anyone that is not synth based disco dance. I do not use drum machines and synths, if I did they all have most of what is put in this update, Ok the score is useful to some, when I did mess with Cubase Drum fingy it just drove me to use Steven Slate that was way better and easier to use. I then sacked that and learned to play drums. This update is just what can we do to make some more money out one section of users, they should have put other things in to suite all users.

Thank you for your valuable videos. As Cubase able to show/activate only the notes in a specific scale, can Cubase do the same for the chords? Show/activate the chords in the scale and hide the out of scale chords.

Thanks a really useful lesson. I knew there must be a catch when Steinberg so dramatically improved the score editor! Thanks to you I now have a Logical Preset to cover it.

Andrew, Will watch it later . Will see what the project conversion Ableton to Bitwig to Cubase 14 will result in. It is nice to loop clips in ableton and bring them in arrangement view .

On m y side, I've created a nice Logical Editor script that explodes chords the way I need.

Andrew, Killer! This was as exciting to watch as an overtime Super Bowl. Unbelievable (given where we all were post the previous explode for 13 and then the new drop 14, sans the same technique) in terms of turnaround to solve this problem. much appreciation.
