Its very handy to "solo" a channel that has side-chaining on it without muting the channel that its side-chained to, which would kill the side chain effect.

I might be wrong, but this may solve my problem of recording a quiet guitar part while playing the rest of my tracks. Often I can’t hear properly what I’m playing against the rest of the song.
