    You certainly worked hard on this to find something like this.

    🎯 A very, very helpful video, thank you very much! I have been using Cubase Pro for a few years now and therefore have access to the huge loop library. But I have never really got to grips with it. Precisely because the loops are available in so many different keys and I still haven't figured out how to adapt these loops to a key. So I'll try that out at the next opportunity. It probably only gets complicated and much more time-consuming if different scales are used in a song and not just a single scale, for example in songs that contain far more than just four constantly repeating chords, e.g. in a part over four bars, three different scales may be used...🤔

    Just a note for people. If you have something that isn't already in key. Make sure you right click on the audio samples or acapella (in the mediabay) and set the root key. And tempo if you know it. Then when you try to sync your sounds. It should play in key. And possibly in time for you too. Good luck.

      hi darry,, I just ran a test where I created an audio loop by rendering from a MIDI file,,, on the new audio loop I was able to simply go up to the info line and put in whatever root note I wanted,,, Not sure if you can do that with the factory content,,, andrew

    My concern with the project key in the top bar is that it does not include minor, major, etc. I don't find it very usable.

    • @YouGuys-ux5sm
      @YouGuys-ux5sm 3 месяца назад

      Use the parallel minor keys. Search for a circle of fifths on the web if you need explanation.

    • @ErixSamson
      @ErixSamson 3 месяца назад

      @@YouGuys-ux5sm I don't you what you mean by "parallel minor key". Maybe you mean the relative minor key, to which the circle of fifths is not related at all (the relative minor is a minor third below the major key). So if I'm in Cmaj, the relative minor is Amin natural. But in many cases we don't use this Amin natural (the 6th mode of Cmaj), but we rather use either Amin harmonic or Amin melodic (those scales have different 6th and 7th degrees when compared to natural minor). That's what I'd like to select in the project key, a root note and a scale type. C is not a key, CMaj or Cmin harmonic are keys.

      The loops themsevles are often described as being in a minor key. Sorting through them, one by one, should address your concern. But Andrew shows a feature of Cubase that gives loops a common key so that we don't have to sort through them and then how to alter notes within the loop's data. We can lower the third ourselves, where it matters for minor keys. I think Andrew was showing us how a way to create inspiration, not how to perfect a song. I think anything that inspires is very usable. :)

      @@ralphashford9022 I'm certainly not arguing against Andrew, he is producing PERFECT and USEFUL content for Cubase users. I'm just saying that Steinberg shoud consider revisiting some of their tools, including serious music composition assistants. Current tools are OKish (chord tracks, chord pads...), but some features from the past like "project key" are almost useless. I hope Steinberg will embrace the AI wave ASAP and will give us really smart composition tools. I don't need a gigantic library of useless loops, I need to be able to quickly generate the one loop I really need at the moment, based on musical constraints gathered from the current project state. Peace.

      @@ErixSamson I'm comparatively new to Cubase, having started with Elements 10, but now in Pro 13. When I right click on any drop-downs, there's millions more. I know I'll never use 95% of the available features, but then Andrew's videos always introduce to me ideas that are mostly inspiring, if sometimes of no interest to my music. (I went to Pro for the render in place feature, but otherwise Pro is way over my head - but fun.) I guess, again being a newbie, I'm amazed at what Cubase can do, and I'm far from wishing it could do more, or if it would do older features better. For the record, I agree with you (not AI though) and that gigantic library of loops is overwhelming, daunting and truly useless. But now, with this video, the library seems less daunting and less useless. A bit more manageable, and now I'll explore it more constructively. As for inspriation, thank you for inspiring this little conversation. Hope I didn't seem rude. Cheers!

    • @TheDigitalAudioManual
      @TheDigitalAudioManual  3 месяца назад

      hi ryde,,, I typically dont make chords from the melody,, but rather the other way around,, I set up chords and then create a melody from them. When you create your melodies, where do they come from? do you play an instrument?

      hi ryde,, I havent seen anything yet that will auto create chords to a melody like that,, at least not in cubase,,, I am able to do that myself sometimes with my guitar as I listen to a melody,,, but that requires musicianship,,, havent seen a button yet that can do that one,,, but then comes tomorrow and everything changes. Sometimes though, when you drag samples up into the chord track, it does comes up with enough information to create some basic chords,, and that can be useful as well,,, andrew

      hi web,, yes after I made this video and continued to test it, I saw some inconsistencies, for some reason some loop packs work better than others and some dont respond at all,,, what is funny is a month after I made this video, Cubase 14 came out, and in the Media Bay they now have a specific option to adjust the keys of the loops,, I have found it is still not perfect but it does work better and on more loops then what I demonstrated in this video,, all the best
