Trains on Tuesday 26th November 2024. My Booty From Britain.
I got a lot of stuff in England again this year and rather than drag it out over two or three videos I thought I would show it all in one long video. There is a good mix of British and North American stuff. I hope you enjoy it and manage to stick it out to the end.

KHR entered a float in the 2024 Santa Claus Parade in downtown Kamloops on Nov. 24th. We were voted "Best In Parade" this year. For those of us there it was a wonderful feeling to be part of the celebration. We appreciate all the support from CN and it's employees.

This compilation is all but one of the VIA trains I captured this past summer. The other one will be a stand alone video. The train was often late leading to some dark video and although there is a great similarity to them the skies add some variety. Enjoy.

This week we look at an un-named layout in Didsbury Alta. It is the creation of Ray Rion. Ray, as we all do from time to time, had a gremlin day that day with derailments and electrical faults but that doesn't take away from the fact that he has created a beautiful layout.

Trains On Tuesday 28th. May 2024. No VIA So We Have CN Instead.

VIA Rail seems to be making it a policy to be late and Saturday the 25th. of May was no exception. CN however was busy moving the freight so I grabbed a couple of those.

This week we finally get to see No.1 again. Thirteen cars hauled by F40PH-3 nos. 6418 and 6414. In addition I caught a couple of freights, the first with the engines in notch 8 and the second an unusual container train.

This week we are back with Rocky and a one off extra long train, (for the time of year) and the oil terminal twice daily train with the empties headed back to Kamloops junction. The tank cars will be forwarded to Edmonton for reloading. Some of the shakiness of the camera as the Rocky went by is due the passengers in the dome cars waving and me waving back.

Great video and a great haul David. You can never stop buying!
Thank you Michael, I'm happy. lol.
It was -20this morning, took forever to warm up my bus.
Brrrrrr.
great haul of things thanks for share on channel thanks lee
Thank you Lee. It was fun finding this stuff.
David, you really hit the jackpot. Wow, tons of loot. I love your Budd car. Nice well cars. Your layout must be massive. I wanted to go over this fall, but my mate, Graham, was in a bad spot and had no interest in a show this year. Maybe next year. Never enough. 😉 Rob
Hi Rob, I think I did well. The Budd was a dream, I paid a good (high) price for it but it fits in perfectly with my layout and operations. The well cars now give me enough for a "domestic" train, that is all 53' containers. I think that you probably have more running distance on your layout than I do. I was, as usual, within 7 miles of Graham. I had wondered if I might see him at GETS. I'm sorry to hear that he is indisposed. Hopefully he will be well for Christmas. David.
Hi David, The enthusiasm for heritage railway gives me great hope it will continue to grow. Your uniform looks quite sharp mate. Steven.
Hi Steven. We definitely hit a low point but we have an enthusiastic board of directors and others with vision to push us through into the next phase of the KHR. Hopefully I shall have an opportunity to wear my uniform back on the rails soon. Cheers, David.
Looking very smart there David! Well done with the Parade Award, and good to hear things sound hopeful for the Heritage Railway. Steve
Thank you Steve, I do like our uniform. Hopeful is a good way to put it with the railway situation and the parade demonstrates the enthusiasm. Cheers, David.
You can always use more trains.
My hobby shop will be pleased with your comment. lol.
That's a great haul you got that David the Tri-ang book is a great read.all the best Phil.
Hi Phil, I think I did do well and that book is next on my reading list. Cheers, David.
Nice fuel tank, the springs look great ,great looking haul, any trouble getting threw customs? How big of a bag did you have to bring all your stuff home? Great video David hope you have a great day.
Hi Ray. It's hard to find one of those double ended Tri-ang diesels with the original fuel tank so when I saw the 3D printed one I just had to get it. My loco, although well play worn, at least looks complete now. There is no duty payable on scale models entering Canada, so no problem there. Just a regular medium sized suitcase and a backpack. I am good at consolidating items. For instance, I removed the parts from the sprues on the two Walthers buildings and put them both in one box and then put other stuff in the other box. It's -6 here today and although I know that's not too bad, I still feel cold. Cheers, David.
amazing haul David! I really like those Barkby Jolliffe wagons. I recon you got enough books and kits and projects to keep yourself busy for a lifetime...or two :D sweet MLW 420. Enjoyed the running! Nice video and take care my friend :)
Hi John, the Barkby Jolliffe wagons as mentioned have some personal meaning for me, treasures. You are right about the size of my collection, I really do have enough but....... I like the MLW 420's, I may add a third one at Christmas. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers, David.
Hi David, that's a very impressive haul from your trip to the OK, thank you for sharing it with us. I'm impressed that you managed to get it all back to Canada! Cheers, Steve
Hi Steve, Our trip to Anoraks came early in the trip and I wondered how I would manage to pack it all after that outing. As it turned out I had plenty of room and I was 4Kg underweight! David.
Well done David! 👍
Dear David, I start from the end of the video and I'm sure you'd like to come back to England soon to buy. Nice 3D printed tank for the 2-ended locomotive that I had never noticed. Which locomotive is it? The Airfix box did not disappoint you and as you could see when you opened it there were more pieces in the bed than necessary. I'm happy for you my friend. I will help you have a good week and a lot of fun. Alberto 🚂🚂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hello Alberto. Thank you for your comments again today. Yes, I expect that I shall be back to buy more but next time will be in warmer weather and longer days. I was very pleased to find the fuel tank for my Tri-ang 2-ended loco. So many of those have gone missing. The loco is from the 1960's and was in the Tri-ang Transcontinental series. I think it was based on a Australian loco. Yes, the Airfix box was a great bargain I am most pleased with that. You take care and have a good week too. Now I have your video to watch. Cheers, David.
Great video
Thank you.
Good morning
It is a good morning but a bit cold. lol.
Amazing haul of all kinds of interesting items 👍🏻
Thank you, I had a plan although I didn't know what I would find.
What a fantastic collection David. It must be so nice to meet up with the Creators that we all follow. It sounds like you had a great time meeting people and shopping. 👍 Do we ever haver "Enough Stuff"?? Happy modelling
Hi Mon, I think I did OK on this trip, there's always more though. lol. For me one of the greatest things about RUclips has been the people I have met and the layouts I have visited. I'm amazed that I can show up some where and a voice calls out "Hey, David's here." It blows me away, it does become a family. Take care, and yes, Happy Modelling.
Hi David, that is quite an impressive haul. I really enjoy seeing what people add to their collections. Those Mk IV coaches look terrific, but those extra coaches on the Euro Star make it look so much better. Sometimes when my coaches keep derailing, I remove one of the hooks. It allows a bit more free movement for the bogeys. Give it a go, it might work. I hope to go to England one day, just to go to the train shows. Steven.
Hi Steven, I like seeing what people get too. I love the look of a full size Mk4 set but the wheel sets on the coaches I got i Calgary have been changed and they are the ones that derail. Two of them have Kadee couplers and they derail too. It'll be a project on a day when I feel like doing it. The Euro Star struggled on one of my inclines so I probably won't be looking for any more coaches for that set, it looks fine now. You could be right about the coupler hooks. I hope you do make it to the UK sometime, there seems to be several shows to choose from every weekend. I hope to make it to Australia one winter, today would be good, it's -6c right now. Cheers, David.
Holy Moses David my friend I'm surprised you didn't have topay for excess baggage!! What a great haul you got, those canopies were a great deal two and a half feet long. The class 31 ran well too. I hope you can sort the de railing coaches out, it must be really annoying, I don't believe there's such a thing as having enough stuff!!
Hi Digger, it does look like an impressive haul doesn't it? I was actually 4 Kg underweight, just imagine what else I could have got. What a deal I got on those canopies, I think it was the bargain of the trip. I'm sure I will find a solution to the derailing problem. Getting the right wheel sets on them will probably do it but I don't have enough of them yet. You can hardly go wrong with a Lima loco. I'm right pleased with both the 33 and the 31. Your vote is the third to keep on buying, my local hobby shop will be pleased. Cheers Digger, David.
WOW David .That`s one hell of a collection of stuff . That will keep you busy for the winter . Plus it was great to meet you again all being a very short time . I had a very busy weekend meeting loads of people but a great time was had by all. Regards Lord Al.
Hi Al, I always seem to have fun shopping at exhibitions and hobby shops in the UK, This was an especially good trip. I had hoped to find a day to visit Dragon Jct. but it didn't work out, I never made it into that part of the country this time. GETS was amazing if only for the meetings we had. Cheers Al, take care. David.
wow you really got a treasure trove of stuff all very nice!! Have fun with it all!! Thanks for the show and tell I really enjoyed it! Good to see the trains run very nice runs atleast the one train made it halfway without derailing lol and I really love the layout the scenes are so nice and oops the trees fell on the last train lol and you can never have to many trains or rolling stock lol i say keep collecting!! You might as well enjoy to the fullest and have fun!!! Enjoy the rest of the week and see you in the next one!!
Hi Nancy, It really was a good trip shopping wise. The layout seems to be working fine and I keep trying new camera angles. I have some ideas for winter work this year so we may see some more development happening. That's one vote for more shopping but space to put it all is becoming a problem. lol. Take care and stay warm. David.
Great haul Dave. Really like the Walthers background wall buildings. They will work well into your layout.
Hi Rick, yes, I'm pleased with my finds. I think the background buildings will be great if I can find some wall space to put them. They might end up as background to the pulp mill.
I went to the new model railway exhibition at the NEC at Birmingham international
Hi Scott, how was the exhibition? I heard it was much smaller than the Warley shows but Sam (Sam's Trains) thought it was better.
Ciao dear David, thanks for this awesome video.A great event for your community and we are awaiting for Santa Claus, all the best my friend ,alberto 🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Alberto. It was a wonderful parade and so much fun to see all the children with their mothers and fathers and grand parents all waving as we passed by. Less than one month to wait for Santa now. Cheers, David.
Great looking float thanks for the video David, If the Heritage Railway gets off and running for next year, we look forward to riding on it,talk to you later, have a gr8t evening
Hi Ray, thank you, As things come together I will be able to bring the news to my viewers. At present I can say that there is enthusiasm and progress is being made.
Fantastic float -especially at night - and good to hear about the heritage railway plans
Hi Les, it indeed was a great float, I wish I had been in a position to see it in the parade and record the publics reaction. A lot of work has been done and is ongoing towards getting us on track again. Pulling it altogether and sorting out the details will take more time but the journey is underway. David.
Sweet, David! Very cool and awesome to see!
Thank you Anthony, I agree. This heritage railway has been active since the 1990's and I have been directly involved since 2007.
Great float there David
Thank you Dave, the guys did a great job putting that together.
Wow amazing video David thank you
Thank you Phil, we had an amazing time out there, a lot of fun.
@trainsontuesday that's amazing David it look a lot of fun thanks again
Excellent video. You look very professional in uniform. Let's hope 2141 gets back on active rail.
Hi Rick, thank you for the compliment and yes, let's hope it' not too long before we hear the whistle blow again announcing our return to the rails.
Great video david
Thank you.
Thats great David and may i say you looked very dapper my friend
Thank you Digger, it is nice to think that I may be wearing the uniform regularly again soon.
Hi David , wow what a great float for the parade . We have just watched it together , nice to see you back in uniform and we hope your back up and running the train soon . Peter & Brenda
Hi Peter and Brenda, it was an amazing display. I wasn't sure I would fit into the uniform but with a little sucking in I managed it. lol. We may get a test run in 2025. David.
Looks like a chiily day for it David. The float looks great at might. Happy Trains
Hi Mon. The day started out with a cutting west wind but as the day wore on it calmed a bit and probably warmed a bit too. It began to snow lightly around 2.30pm which added to the thrill. The float was brilliant and much loved by the spectators.
great vlog thanks for share on channel thanks lee
Thank you Lee, much appreciated.
Looking good David
Hi Scot, thank you, it was great fun.
Cool compilation…not counting parts 1&2 but, is it the same train (car consists) in each VIA train all the time?
Hi Anthony, I'm not sure how many sets there are but I think there are 3 sets in motion across the country in each direction at any given time. There are other trains using this stock too. My 2020 guide lists 172 cars in this fleet but I know they are dwindling in number. Thanks for a great question. David.
Some great shots there David; thank you for compiling them. You did well to catch as many as you did! As always, the scenery is stunning.
Thank you Steve, I guess you're right, it's not easy catching a train that is so rarely "on time." The scenery I take no credit for but I do soak up as much of it as I can. David.
Great flashback on videos of # 1, Dave. Great hearing the second Horn type at 13:34 on the VIA unit. I understand this is the emergency horn.
Hi Rick, Yes, memories of warmer days. I got a nice smile and wave from the conductor on that last one at mile 5. I wonder if the engineer felt intimidated with us having both sides covered. It was a great horn combination.
Plenty of Action!
Yes, some good trains.
Excellent catches, and thanks for sharing. Dave
Thank you Dave.
Beautiful video
Thank you.
Hi David, some very nice shots there. It brings back memories. Wow! how time flies, 10 years ago we were in your part of the world, from Jasper to Toronto. How many of those trains were on time? Remember it so well, 6 hours late into Toronto. Enjoy the weather, we are coming into summer down under, although you wouldn't think so by the temperatures. A few 30 degree days, but mainly in the mid teens to early 20's. I like seeing the trains coming through Revelstoke on their cameras, especially in winter, they have a great backdrop there. Keep the videos coming. ... Ian
Hi Ian, I got what I could this summer but I missed a lot of them. It has been very mild here this autumn, 5c today but we are now getting some frosts overnight. They figure winter will hit in abut a week/week and a half with temps hitting -10c or even colder. Your mid teens sound pretty good to me. Not many of the trains in this video were "on time" mostly around an hour late. I'll try with the videos but I know next summer is going to be busy again. Cheers and take care, David.
some nicxe catches there david my friend that deer wasn't too worried even when the dog turned up
Hi Digger, there are about 4 deer that hang around that housing area. You can walk within a few feet of them, it's not good for them in my opinion but deer are becoming very comfortable in the city. David.
Nice catch ,I see something else is watching the train thants fir the videos,David, have a great day.
Hi Ray, yes, those deer aren't bothered by anything anymore. hope you re well, we had our first dusting of snow this morning.
Hi dear David, great beautiful video my friend.Big like, have a nice week.Alberto 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thank you Alberto, You have a good week too. We had some snow this morning but it has melted and we are in nice warm sunshine. David.
Happy Tuesday David! Hope everything has been good on your end. Nice catches! - Jason
Hi Jason, Yes, good but very busy. Thank you for commenting, it is a good reminder to play catch up on a few channels. Glad you like our passenger service. David.
Some great catches againt that fantasic scenery
Thank you Clive, my every day backdrop, I love it.
Great catches and awesome video
Thank you.
Good morning david
good morning.
Very cool footage and one could not ask for a better backdrop to film in!
Hi Anthony, I do like our landscape and most of the footage was shot just a two minute walk from home. David.
