Great video congratulations. Unfortunately my experience is that Portuguese people have on average no interest in changing this situation. Maybe I am wrong but this is my feeling leaving there. One question. Does anyone knows any organisation in Portugal or Spain that fights against this issue?

the first time i bought chicken manure i didn't realize how high in nitrogen it was. it burned the hell out of my plum tree, it dropped all blossoms and didn't produce anything that year; the next year it was super healthy and strong though! i put a good helping of the chicken manure in the holes that i planted my tomatoes in as i did with steer manure in previous years... the tomatoes did not suffer at all, and were the best fruits i had ever grown!! :D so, if you have chickens... ;)

Two of our sheep passed away in May. At the same time, we also had to scrap our car after it fell into a lake. The expense of buying another car forced us to make an entirely new budget and find more work to bring in extra money. We are doing well and rebuilding our savings again. A part of the solution was finding a new home for our remaining goat, as the medical expenses for the animals were piling up and the cost of buying new sheep off-set any savings that we could have made from the milk and cheese that we were looking forward to. We want to get sheep and goats again in the future, but plan to build more permanent fencing first.

I just don’t get it. No effort or what so ever to build a good shelter for your pigs! Pigs like straw to sleep in, have an enclosed shelter especially in the winter time. Your chickens are living on 2x2m, the chicken house looks like it will break any second! No additional food for the pigs? That’s shows you have no education when it comes to animals. Echt Leute, es ist ja okay wenn ihr in den extremen Tiny Home Hype ausleben wollt, aber euere Tiere haben nicht die Wahl! Unsubscribed!!!!

The answer to your qestion in my opinion is that we now have a generation of work shy youth that want the easy life. They are quite happy living on state handouts and complaining about their situation. always the victim mentality. Hope this helps

I've just subscribed your your channel. This is the 3rd video of yours I've watched. You've impressed me a lot because I'm portuguese, almost 64 years old, born in Africa but living here since 1976. I also feel a disgrace what is happening to this country demography. What a lost of knowledge. I love both the coastal / oceanic areas and the countryside. In Africa I used to fish and spear-hunt almost everyday after school and only twice I had to kill a chicken and a turkey. Just in Portugal at my in-laws' I've learnt how to kill rabbits and assure it's much easier than birds. I don't know how is your level of Portuguese language, but there's a recipe called "Coelho à caçador" you should try and you don't need to process so much the rabbit, the axe is enough to chop it..."Coelho à caçador" = "Rabbit at the hunter's way". The rabbit looks great! Definitely want to do that in the future, although I'm not looking forward to explaining that to the kids 🥲. The risk of botulism is only with non-acidic foods like vegetables, kiwis and other fruit are fine especially if you add sugar

Incidentally, kiwifruit is high in pectin, especially when it’s not quite ripe/ a bit firm. It’s an amazing fruit, extremely high in nutrients ( twice that of apples per 100g): plus which, per 100g has double the amount of vitamin C as an orange. Also high in Vitamins A, B1,B2, B3, E; also high in Calcium, iron, potassium…. The list goes on.

I peel, slice and dry my Kiwi fruit, it then keeps for literally months. I don't know exactly how long, because I always eat it ....

Homesteading is about survival and food management anything that keeps alive till the next meal is a blessing. you should breed them they are easy ,and they grow so quick ,protein supply all year round. thanks for sharing.

Do you think raising your own meat gets easier? My partner and I were both former vegetarians, even vegan for a little while. He has gotten used to killing animals, but i just can't bring myself to do it (unless the animal is already injured). We get a friend to help on trade because she's comfortable using the 'broomstick method'... I told her i need to learn but I really don't wanna 😪

Sustainability is not found in Petrochemical being in your Food. Not even Plastic Wrap. Micro plastics clog up ocean fish guts? What about humans?. So. Glass, iron, steel, copper are excellent options. Investment for Life. Do not store any Food in Plastics.

You are very hard on yourselves with the slaughtering. I admire the sentiment, but if it is affecting you so deeply, you can just try buying from an ethical, humane source. I think sometimes all this (and with the PFAS) shows how hard it is to be healthy and sustainable as individuals.

You can preserve lemons, they are fantastic!
