Progress in it’s due time. Remember to enjoy the journey, it’s not just about the destination. Your toddler incident is something no parent should ever have to experience 😢. Praise The Lord everything is well now with your toddler and all is getting better for you both. Best wishes for you all (including the piggies).

Thank you Grettel 🙂 we're all getting better now and the Piggies are both in good health and spirits, they are the talk of the village these days. One of our neighbours has given us permission to use some of his pastures so that is a big treat for them.

This is all going to take time, prioritise your health and the animals. Olives will come back next year, be kind to your selves❤️‍🩹

True, and we worked hard on pruning the trees so hopefully next year will just be better!

Sorry to hear about the toddler, that’s scary! It takes a long time to get everything the way you envision it! How long? No clue, we’re not there yet 😂

Yeah not something you really want to experience! I heard somewhere that the first five years or so are just a chaotic mess so we have to wait a few more years I guess!

@@oakolive that makes sense! We’re just over half way than 🤪. Highly recommend some sort of childcare if you can, just gives so much more time in a day.

I really felt for you in this (having experienced it myself). Childrearing could alternatively be written as a series of expensive disasters. Don't berate yourselves. We've all been there. Always allow time to be sick (emergency energy saving) and to recover from trauma (your child going to hospital.

I just watched this episode and feeling the pain, just don't forget step by step one day at the time ! There is good days and bad days and that's okay, you still learn and we all need to learn and never stop learning is my philosophy it keeps life interesting....God bless you

So sorry to hear about the emergency with the baby! I've had to rush my baby daughter to the hospital on two occasions (once on Christmas eve). Absolutely harrowing ordeal. I so understand that all the stress coming together would make you all sick. I was a wreck afterwards myself. But I am very relieved that the baby is ok now. It's been a long (difficult) year for many, as I am sure it's been for you guys. I am amazed and admire all the different food sources you're already trying to use /harvest. Don't be too hard on yourselves if it doesn't all go well at first. You'll surely get better rewards later.

Thanks for the kind words 🙏 we're both grateful for the emergency workers prompt response and it was all ok in the end. Good to hear that your daughter is ok after that ❣️ p.s Higgy the pig is doing great after her fall.

@@oakolive I am glad to hear that. Animals (I think) are like having children in some ways. I have quite a bit of experience with owning horses: all the same drama, building trust and relationships, training behavior, chasing escapees, injuries etc. And it's ok to make mistakes and learn from them. Times have changed, few of us grew up knowing farm animals well. So it's just going to be a two-way learning curve. Good luck with everything! You're going to be alright.

Hi I just got acquainted with your channel; a couple of comments for your future reference, when you harvest your olives, be aware of the branches that you are pulling from the tree, because your next year's harvest is already there! Olive trees put out new branches in, let us say spring 2022 and those branches are the ones producing new olives that will be harvested in around october 2023! So if you take them down, your next year harvest will be compromised.
Also, please don't store your olives in closed plastic bags. This is an old habit that really worsens the quality of the olive oil. The fastest you process them, after picking, the better the quality will be. On that note, your wrinkled olives have a fungus - called gafa, in Portuguese. It uses the entry site of the fly to rotten the fruit. So you take care of the fly and eventually your trees fungal attacks will decrease.
    Keep up the good work!

@@oakolive you are very welcome! And by the way, you are doing great hand-picking the olives. It does matter for the quality of the oil, especially the taste! If you leave to many puncture ones it will taste bitter!!!
