Can I get this Broken VTX Running Again?
Today I wanted to share what I've learned from buying bikes that don't run. Come along with me as I get this 2006 VTX1300R up and running again after a few years of sitting. Buying a non-running bike can be a huge money saver but defiantly comes with risk.
Also check out some of the (mostly non-youtube) merch I have available.

    Big difference between 1800 and the 1300 weight 1300 1800s about 100 lb heavier unless you're writing style is cruising interstates the 1300 will be fine one thing you should do is replace a neck bearings with all ball bearings

    I bought a 2004 VTX 1300C as my first bike 3 years ago. At the time it was a one owner with 19K miles on it. I'm sort of a big guy (5'11", 250 lbs.) and I wanted to get a decent bike that was low maintenance and affordable. I was hesitant because it's not a small bike by any means, but I didn't want to get something too small that I would outgrow in a year. This bike pleasantly fills the bill and looks and sounds great. I get compliments on it all the time, and it's pretty much stock (the seat was changed to a mustang and is a bit more comfortable, and the headlight was upgraded to LED). I change the fluids and I had to put a new battery in this summer, but other than that I have not had to do anything major. I may have to do the brake pads soon, but that too is just normal maintenance. This bike is so much fun to ride. I prefer cruising the back roads as opposed to highways, but that's because I ride with no windshield. 60-65 mph is very comfortable... above that you can get some wind buffeting, but I very much like the feeling of the wind in my face. I wear a half (actually 3/4) helmet when cruising, and a full helmet when i will be on the highway. The bike starts up right away. You have to let it idle for a few minutes to get her warmed up, but after that she's ready to roll. As stated earlier, I'm a newer rider, but this bike fits me like a glove and I have no issues when I need to merge onto a roadway or jump on the throttle to pass someone. At some point I may get a touring bike - I'm 59 and may retire soon and would love to travel a little more on two wheels, but I will always keep this bike as a daily rider. Honda hit it out of the park with this bike.

    just got one of these for free at work. it was sitting out back of the shop for 15 years or something. it's pretty sunbaked but i want to get it running again and set it up as an adventure bike but keep all of the original hard to find pieces. i saw one in a forum done up that way, taller and on some dirt worthy rubbers. anyone got any advice?

    • @TylerChaseMotors
      @TylerChaseMotors 5 дней назад

      They’re complicated compared to “normal” street bikes. It’ll take some time to test and clean everything but the engine is fantastic. Your main first task will be getting the fuel system straightened out. If you are not comfortable pulling all the carbs apart you can just take the assembly out and send it to a guy called MagnAndy on the v4 muscle bike forum. Good luck!

    Yup the shadow is fun to ride. Absolutely those bikes were so small and cramped. I'm 6'1" myself and I know how you feel and look on a shadow. Nice first bike definitely. The Magna V-45 and V-65 are totally the master of the shadow. You should turn a nice profit from this bike definitely. Keep um coming, loving the channel!!!!

    Nice video and super easy to get this shadow up and running. Yes i have had a shadow also, but truthfully with the V-65 magna in the stable, we know who is the master of that shadow. I didn't catch what year that shadow was and im thinking its probably a 500cc model??? Really enjoying the channel. Hope you are turning these bikes over and cashing in nicely!!!!

    Great video, enjoying your content. Looks like we have similar taste in bikes. My first was a Honda V-45 from 1984, next was a 2007 Honda VTX1300r. The VTX is absolutely an incredible bike and so friggin easy to work on. Careful not to fall in love with this one it will grow on you fast and before you know it 10 years will go by and you are still riding the VTX1300. Cool video, but like I commented on the V-65 video, maybe more in depth when tearing down and reassembling parts??? Looks like you are on your way to a very informative and entertaining channel. Keep the videos coming loving it, so far!!!!

  • @davidbeaver39

    Nice video, maybe if possible put in some of the tearing down the carbs and other footage. You might think a lot of the video you shot is boring, but the mechanical viewers love that stuff. My first bike was a 1984 Honda magna V-45. Magna's are definitely legends. Like your video style and just want more detail. Keep it up I think you can definitely be a RUclips giant if you want to be. Looking forward to seeing more about this magna and hopefully others. Good stuff, good luck!!!!

    I've been watching your videos on this racing mower. They're great and informative. I've learned from your successes and mistakes. I especially appreciate that one statement you make at 2:41 about how these engines are meant to run with their governor so you're not going to put a pedal. I have a six speed Craftsman LT3000 w/o a deck 20hp B&S Intek. I figured I could use it to pull a small trailer for hauling stuff around the yard. I wanted to put a pedal, and searched for ways to convert it. I couldn't find any videos that thoroughly explained. I increased the speed a bit by swapping a pulley, but not for racing. I think I'll abstain from adding a throttle pedal since I'm only going to use it for pulling a small trailer. I know you said you're going to put a throttle pedal. I'm hoping you put a detailed video of how you do it. You're videos helped! Thanks! BTW Subscribed!

    You didn't give this bike the credit it deserves. I own the same bike, 06 VTX C and it will easily raise the front wheel, I'm not trying to ride wheelies on a 650 pound bike tho. This bike will hit 100 real fast and has no problem keeping up with any Harley. All of my buddy's have Harley's and I'm the guy that always brings the Honda lol. This bike has massive torque, fast off the line, looks great, sounds great, cuts through the wind without any stability issues, very agile for its size, i can't think if a single bad thing to say about this bike. Its definitely not a beginner bike as I've accidentally kicked the ass end sideways and im a very experienced rider. I've had crotch rockets, Harley's, a 1600 c90 boulevard, and this bike overall is the best of the 10+ bikes I've had.. sorry, I got to disagree with you bro.. the way you rode it make it look like a turd.. mine screams bloody murder and will smoke the tire off the line.

    Hi, I got the 750 Super Magna in 2000 from France. It is so nice, only problem is single disc up front, drum at the back. It is already quite fast but I wish I had the V65... You should should keep it, the money you are going to get is not worth it. You have suchan amazing bike and it can show it stop light to many current bikes. I bought a new CBX in 1979 and sold it 1981 (yes I am that old!!!). I wish I had kept it. I testes a S1000R, faster, brakes harder, but still not CBX feel. I also have a 2007 R1200GS, worsr unreliable POS I ever had, nice to ride ... when not broken down, and don't get me started on BMW company. Give me Honda people anyday.

    I have owned several bikes and currently have several in the stable. American V twins, metric inline 4’s… The VTX 1300c makes me smile ever time I take her out. Always fires right up, always says’YES LET’S GO” like an enthusiastic bird dog at dawn on the first day of the season. Assembled in Ohio and torque for days when you twist the throttle. Once you ride it you get why it was coined a Honda Davidson. I have ridden lots of Harley’s and this bike sounds more like a Harley to me (evo and earlier) than the the M8 and MileaukeeTwin It is a hard bike not to love.

Plasti-chrome and pleather. 5 speed gear box. Boring bikes not in a negative way if that makes sense...but boring all the same. That's why there are so many for sale w/ such low mileage. Most people don't seem to lay down too many miles on these things. Myself included. I moved on w/in a year of owing both.
