Will Hell Let Loose be the next WW2 shooter to die?
Great review, sir! I have been eagerly waiting for you to review this game as I have been "on the fence" about buying it now or waiting. As others have mentioned, given the current price for a rather buggy and not fully completed game, probably best to wait a few months to purchase unless able to buy on a good discount. That being said, going forward I think this game has the potential to be amazing especially with the realistic graphics, numerous ships, aircraft, weapon systems, and ongoing community created content being added!
Both of them are just repackaged Heroes of World War II from 2004.
Bought it day 1 and have clocked in some 52 hours and have been enjoying it FAR more than I expected. I'm more familiar with WWII naval warfare but do enjoy cold war sub games like Dangerous Waters and Cold Waters. Never really liked the "modern" ship silhouette and aesthetics compared to the ships of WWI and WWII, still wanted to pick it up to occupy my attention till Task Force Admiral eventually releases. I haven't been able to peel myself away from this game. The mission editor is so easy to quickly slap something together, whether I want to make something silly, something more realistic, or just something to test a unit or mechanic. That alone will be enough to satisfy me while I wait for the campaign, and I have only touched 2 of the game's scenarios and none of the user scenarios yet! As for bugs, I haven't had much trouble. Aside from a plane flying off into the sunset because it glitched out during landing at an airbase, the vast majority of "buggy" behaviors are simply fixed by issuing a quick cease fire order before either returning to formation or reengaging the target.
in cold waters the AI automatically knew where you were after a set amount a time iirc for "gameplay purposes" does anyone know if this AI has some psychic abilities that prevents SneakyBigBrainTime?
Im not 100% understand the price tag complains (three of four times?) This is the price for the full game, not the EA. You are not paying 50$ for the EA, you are paying that for a full game that is not out yet. If its an issue, just wait for the full game to be out and then discuss it Overall i enjoy the game but it needs some more content and mechanics. Solid start
There usually is a discount on the price for EA as an incentive to buy in early. Time value of money and all. But I’m not complaining as this is a niche game which will always have limited sales prospects. I’d rather pay a premium so the devs can make this kind of game at all.
I can’t wait to purchase and support this developer. This reminds me very much of Command Modern Operations, it started very much as a rolling release. Yes, it can be frustrating at times waiting for updates, but the fact is Naval games are very niche. Command continues to have free and very substantial updates, so I have a willingness to give Triassic games benefit of the doubt, and hope they will follow CMANO and CMO’s example.
@@Darren-vf2qw great to hear. They have laid decent foundations in Sea Power, I look forward to seeing what they add in the future.

Im pretty new and I don't understand the market cap sometimes, it says the commerce limit is +100 right, but sometimes I have resources like food that say +214 even though my market cap limit is +100
I wonder if the radar thing actually effects the AI or if they constantly see you anyway, even if you are stealthy.
@@ninochaosdrache3189 tis a good question...
When the full release hits then I’ll order this. Until then I’m not paying to be a beta tester.
This was a great review. I bought Sea Power the moment it was released, and it delivers a level of excitement i've not had in a naval game for years. It kinda reminded me of the first time I ever picked up SSN-21 Seawolf back in the early 90's. If you're into these kind of sims it's a no brainer. There are plenty of annoying bugs right now and scope for the AI to be improved, but overall this game is already an epic in early access.
@@MrRem7600 thank you my friend, and glad you're enjoying it!
Looks good, though can't understand why the RN are not on there yet.
@@B-uk8eo agreed - a paid for DLC waiting to happen I'm sure!
A description of "a bit buggy" does not make a good review. How about examples.
Sometimes weapons behave weird, sometimes units move somewhere despite not ordered to, or dont move somewhere after told to. Sometimes jets will not speed up or down despite orders, sometimes units will not fire when told to without good indication why. And probably half of the times it happend is not a bug, but the game doing poor job telegraphing info to you
@@reefta Sounds exactly like my experience with CMANO
This game will eventually be great, but it needs a save/load mission right now, and just how can you have a WW3 Atlantic scenario without UK, Canada, Holland?, game released in a very incomplete state, and future upgrades will be paid DLC. I wanted this, but am not paying to take part in a beta test.
@@stevebarnett-f5o it's expensive for what it is right now. I would enjoy a royal navy release but paying extra for it would hurt. Hopefully modders come to the rescue
No multiplayer?
@@ahmed-ze9ng nope
Have bin playing the game for som days now, as you said…..there are many missions but it becomes repetitive , search/identefy and engage .
@@Uberland82 yes im not sure how long the majority of players will stay engaged with the game before getting bored. If they could follow up with more assets such as the royal navy I think that would help
I wish i could get cold war era like this way from 1950s to 1990s
The only thing I don;t like about Enlisted is the 5 characters you join the game with.
It's good but there are still some rough spots. The whole issue of ships launching weapons without my consent is a problem (even when set to Weapons Hold), for example. We need more platforms, like Royal Navy and Argentina for example. Info on your air defense capability (how many targets can you engage and how many weapons can you launch) at any given time would be useful. An onscreen emitter icon would be nice for reminding you if your platform is active or not. Stuff like that. So it's a good start but there's a long way to go. Oh, and a lot more missions.
@@PrimarchX launching weapons while on hold? I didn't experience that one, good thing as that'd piss me right off!
@@twiglets2 Yes, I had ships launching SAMs when I explicitly had the AirWarfare Authorization set to the least permissive. Also had ships launching multiple ASMs against ships that were already targetted with missiles enroute, wasting ordnance. Given the number of targets, their defenses and the number of ASMs in the scenarios, every missile counts! When I say I want complete weapon use control, I want complete weapon control!
I just bought it on sale after watching this review, and my only issues are A) it has already crashed twice in the first 2 hours, and B) the controls. I always default to inverted Y axis, but this game uses the right analog stick to interact by moving it in a certain pattern. If the pattern starts by pointing down on the stick, it makes it impossible for me to interact with it, as my camera just points up instead of grabbing the item. I'll be standing in front on a scanning point on the ground for like 5 minutes just trying to interact, then eventually give up. Some of these early chapters feel super sluggish too. You can't run, so in one chapter you just slowly walk across a street to pick up an item from a shop, only to walk back & get on a bus. End of chapter. I'm sure it gets better, but I wish I could at least jog to move things along faster. The 2 crashes I had were thankfully right after a chapter ended, so it didn't ruin any progress. Hope that eventually stops, but it's not too bad yet. It's also weird that it has a 60 fps frame rate cap. I don't have the best PC ever, but I feel like a 4070 Super + Ryzen 5 7600X could get more out of this.
@@corey2232 sorry to hear about the 2 crashes, how frustrating! I'm running a 4070 myself and didn't experience issues like that so I hope you don't experience anymore. The pace of the game certainly does pick up!
IMHO, Sea Power is the best new game in many years, I cannot wait for them to add more of the Royal Navy and the Falkland's War DLC.
Royal Navy could take a long time best bet is Modder's
It’s fantastic, yeah there are glitches but it’s early access so buyers’ expectations should be tempered accordingly. I’ve had this game on my Steam wish list for 4 years. For hyper detail I have Command Modern Ops. This game fills a gap that’s existed in my gaming world since I played Fleet Command and F-22 Total Air War. It looks stunning.
@@99IronDuke likewise!
@@jimmunro4649 The Devs have said the RN is coming as is a Falkland's DLC.
I've been playing naval war-games since Harpoon was pencil and paper. So I've had this on my wish list for a long while and snapped it up when it became available. But I haven't had a chance to sit down w/ it yet. Been watching the play throughs and it looks good. My concern is that command and control will be damn near impossible due to absurd levels of micromanagement and dog shit UI.. Lookin' at you "Jane's Fleet Command".

@@NuStiuFrate Haha I see where the confusion came from. Perhaps hydro is a worthy video subject for the future
Hydro is called sonar nowadays ;)
How I wished this game would be WW2 era. I'd love a polished and visually impressive game in that era. Most of the titles you can play now are either a mixed bag (bugs, super ugly visuals, limited scope) or basically so nerdy it's unplayable without a 500 hour learning curve. Sadly the modern era here results in what you said: You got beautiful looking ships but since it's long range missile combat you basically just look at your map because the engagement range is so high. Quite a waste.
@DrPlonk there is a ww2 title in the works by the same group, more or less the same mechanics, just a different time period.
@@DrPlonk yes I agree, it almost encourages you to take the hands off approach, let the ships do their thing and just take in the visuals. A shame you can't do both really. A ww2 version would be awesome!
I would recommend checking out ‘War on the Sea” it’s a WW2 naval sim with a very similar feel as Sea Power! Some of same dev team worked on that game as well, but for a different company.
@@SpaceWraith131 Same publisher, but different developer - Task Force Admiral. Also on my wishlist.
Also echoing 'War on the Sea' as that would likely be right up your alley. It is far quicker to learn regarding managing units/systems then this. Visually it's a near match to me & the night battles look especially good. There are many well thought out mods with new units/campaigns to explore if you want to extend the gameplay more. The tactical combat can also be played like an "auto battler" for the most part like this if you just want to take in the visuals and of course it less expensive & not early access. There are a couple of inescapable gameplay mechanics that I'm not fond of but that didn't stop me racking up over 200 hrs in the game so far. If you're not too hung up on visuals & prefer the tactical side of shooting things first & foremost, I would also point you towards 'Atlantic Fleet'. Think of turn based WWII naval tactics designed for a phone/tablet and then pumped up to "PC" standards to some extent. Also created by a lot of the same folks responsible for this & 'Cold Waters'.
I'm enjoying the early access so far, but they really need to add a dedicated tutorial. Fun as it's been learning everything on my own, I can't help but feel I'm playing each scenario incorrectly
@@SpaceWraith131 I couldn't agree more, it was jarring to have to watch all those videos. They were informative but I'm a bit slow at these things and need a good tutorial to get me started! It's on the road map so here's hoping a proper tutorial is implamented soon.
@twiglets2 here's hoping it doesn't take too long, an in depth tutorial is a good time sink
To be honest, the officially labeled tutorial videos are far better than most in game tutorial missions. When I went back to play an equivalent tutorials on Janes Fleet Command and compared the experience because it would be extremely similar, the videos and content now available on RUclips for Sea Power do a far better job teaching. Most don't recognize there is more learning content now available for Sea Power than there has EVER been for a modern naval warfare strategy sim game period. That only took about a month's worth of time for the community to develop that content. Meditate on that though for a few minutes...
@havocsquad1 im not saying that the videos are bad or uninformative, but I'm a hands on learner. I prefer a tutorial that delves into each part of the game, similar to cold waters.
@@havocsquad1 they are very good tutorial videos, and that length of tutorial is certainly necessary to really get to grips with the game. But I do hope they include something more built in to give new players an initial steer, even if it keeps everything high level.
Great review. Though i miss some sounds from the game.
@@michaelfrgegaard881 thank you!
How how how has this channel not ten thousand times the views?
@@heinzriemann3213 haha thank you my friend! Perhaps one day
No clickbait titles/thumbnails, no hyperactive rambling to attract kids/impressionable teens, no negativity for engagement farming, no drama and the titles he reviews are more niche. I love this channel just because of that, but that stuff is nearly neccessary to really grow fast on RUclips. Shame, really.
@DrPlonk yup, this basically. I have software that uses ai to suggest video titles etc and the suggestions are all so click bait-y. I'm sure they would work better but I really can't be bothered with all that! Makes me cringe.
