Timberborn is still in early access but is beginning to pack a punch with large updates being added one after another. It can be a relaxing city builder akin to Anno 1800 or a colony survival like Frostpunk. The sheer flexibility in settings means you can craft the experience that you want, whether it's building complex structures, controlling the flow of water or just pampering your adorable beavers. Are you looking to purchase the game in the next sale? Do you already own it and have words of wisdom for those looking to buy? Please share!

Hey man, another person here just want to say that I really enjoy your vids. The way that you present is awesome! I mostly play RTT games, but I'd watch your videos on just about anything because then I can experience games I'll probably never play myself vicariously through you.
    Keep up the good work!

Great channel, great video! I've watched several Timberborn reviews and this is the one that covers it all and convinced me to buy it.
Subscribed and looking forward to more videos.

@@sudokucoach thank you my friend that means a lot, and I'm glad it helped! Please let us know how you get on with Timberborn, I found it quite a rewarding game without the stress that normally comes with this kind of game

I enjoy your style of review/overview/tutorial video, and somehow I had never heard of this game now. Definitely keeping this game in mind, looks like a nice balance between simple and complex with a fun theme.

@mrZanZibar777 Thank you! That's exactly what this game is. You'll hear some complain that the Bad Water makes the game stressful and no longer relaxing, but the developer recently included new options to turn off the bad water and droughts, so it can be a calming city builder again :)

I take your last comments”more relaxed” means there’s a kind of sandbox mode ?
So do I buy this game ?
    Sand Box mode = Yes
No Sand Box Mode = No

@jaymurray6051 there is not a sandbox mode, but as players complained the new bad water featured made the game too stressful you can now turn off the droughts and the bad water to remove the survival element of the game, making it close to a sandbox as you can increase your starting resources too...

@@twiglets2 thanks for the conformation I won’t buy it until a sandbox mode is added later on. Perhaps it’ll be a last update or DLC when they’ve made sure people has bought the game and then paid for it again 4 times over - seems to be the trend these days. You buy a game and they give you an unfinished product hoping to make more money, encouraging to buy things that should have been there in the first place. I’m guessing it will become eventually sandbox be it mods or not. These type of games I play defeat them then I go into sand box mode. I’m a detailed and city designer so It’s a format I use for all games like tropico 5, Cities skylines and so on. This type of game from what I’ve seen isn’t that stressful I think the stress is self inflicted by people rushing off attempting to build everything without having a stabilized community/economy. Anyways it’s not a gripe just an observation on todays gaming practices thanks for the reply

Though it scratched a specific itch, in summary i didn’t like it, cause (like in many EX games) fundamental design/engine flaws will never get fixed. Cause the time of the devs is put into features the gaming zombies out there want. Like multiplayer, mods, mods, mods, content/DLCs.

@fr3ddyfr3sh can you give some examples of the flaws? It would be interesting to know

@@twiglets2 most of regular dams (even historic ones) have a sluice gate, to provide a constant stream of water downstream and hence also the downstream level. Or to quote wikipedia “Sluice gates are one of the most common hydraulic structures used to control or measure the flow in open channels.”
Overflow gates, the only option in TB, are only a backup in these dams. If you only have overflow gates you can only control upstream water-level, no control of flow.
One could argue, that beaver dams don’t have sluice gates. But that brings me to my second issue.
Beavers in this game are just a a gimmick. You could switch them to humans and you would not be confused, cause these beavers, sadly, do have no resemblance to actual beavers.
Beavers live in dams, so houses in the game should be part of the dam.
Beavers block rivers downstream to create a flooded habitat, where they roam.
The life of beavers (at least the folktails) should habben in the flooded area. But these beavers live on land and only accidentally enter the water. They cannot even cross a river without stairs or a bridge.
Also in the mid/late game it got pretty boring, cause when i had about 16 Bots, it got very easy. All you could do is build more.
