Просмотров 1,8 тыс.2 месяца назад
I've done a lot of work to my ae86 off camera and I really want to get more power out of my 7age. In this video I discuss how I'm going to do it and I run through the different options I have. I would also like your help in making a decision so get into that comment section and tell me what you think is my best option.

4a-ge: literally an iron block Some 12 year old kid: NO IT MUST HAVE ITB
Heyy, i've been thru the process of founding parts to convert my 2nd gen 4afe into a 4age 20v, because here in Brazil are just 3 4ages in existence. Importing is just too expensive, costing like 10k dollars just to have the engine working on the car. So i got to Paraguay and bought a 4age20v head and pistons. Going to use 4afe crank, rods and block, pistons and head are from a 4age blacktop. 4afe oil pump because it have the rounded teeth, megasquirt ms2x, bit of better sensors, wideband and some new 4afe bearings. What is your thoughts about this?
If you ever make your way to Perth I've got a 340hp mk3 KP61 you can check out ;)
Need to have some drive by footage, just seems like another 4age otherwise😂
blue kouki and the black is rare "tweed". about all european cars are whit that blue or brown. not many koukis
It’s a stunning car, so clean
Stay up Eddie 👍🏽 Great video mate. 😎
Thanks 👍
I love young people keeping 4AG alive
The 4ag is here to stay
i cant believe Melbourne doesn't have a 4AGE specialist. Wish we had a business like that here in Melb!
Look up hrworkshop on instagram, I believe they’re closed but they might still be taking on work. Also if you’re prepared to deal with the logistics you can still use Eddie, he has multiple interstate customers.
Just wanna thank you for introducing me to Eddie. I've been in contact with him since your last video. He's gonna help out with my AE86 GZE rebuild! THANKS MATE!
That's great news, Eddie will build a cracker motor for you that'll last. Hopefully one day I'll get to see your ae86 and chat about it
Eddie is a good guy, keep the 4age alive brother 🙌
Very smart dude
Love these types of videos and good to see the people that keep these cars on the road
Thanks mate, hopefully it helps somebody
Great episode like always, I was laughing as soon as you got in the car and said this is going to be rowdy gets two thumbs up form me👍👍.
Great episode like always, I was laughing as soon as you got in the car and said this is going to be rowdy gets two thumbs up form me👍👍.
the video just doesn't capture the feel of the car, as soon as he took off it was clear that it was a serious build
MAN! So cool, sucks we never got KP Starlets in Aus,
totally sucks, I've only ever seen about 5 for sale here in Australia and only two of the five were worth buying
Lovely machine
Ain't no john deer but it's nice
1st Vid of your's today! 3SGE Fanboy, got them in my ST162, SW20 & SXA11. The Rav4 is a sleeper, especially on the motoway... + I found a manual one!!! MR is of course, "Manuel"!! That'd be a nice cc combo, your car... I like the more power of the 3 series motors but you're there at that level wif ya 7AFE Hybrid!! Well done, nicely built!!
That's awesome, thanks for the comment. Since you're a 3sge guy I was wondering how much power you've seen flow through the Blacktop 20v ITB's. I've been meaning to do some reading up on some old beams forums but just haven't gotten around to it. I just want to get an idea of what my throttles are capable of. Thanks again man
i owned a KP60. I bought it with Nissan CA18Det installed. Sold it to my friend and he installed Nissan SR20Det. He Sold the car and the 3rd owner put in A Toyota Supra 2JZ. This car handles really well. i wouldnt go turbo. High powered na or better a rotary will really enhance the handling.
wow that old starlet has been through a lot. My car had a similar story but the only evidence I had of multiple engine swaps was the multiple wiring harnesses spliced into the car 😂
1st video today
Awesome now keep it going!
3rz?
This dude knows he's stuff super impressive this car always was a dream build to have in my life hard to find these in California no a days
Yeah Eddie is a very smart dude I'm always learning from him
Man that bug eye starlet was sick. So much i love the KP. Can't wait to hear the full potential of the engine. I can still hear the engine noise into my ear imagine running and the sound keeping in.
It'll definitely come alive in the high RPM, I'll prioritise a revisit when the car is ready
Whats the name of his workshop? Im interested on getting some work done. Thanks

Why do Australians always give pressure in PSI ? When its a metric country
@@paulwhite7475 this is the way
Many years ago the late Rodger Freeth (Possum Borne co-driver) built up one of these Starlets - he used a 4 liter version of the Rover V8 and had a Jag diff in the rear end with independent rear end suspension.
@@michaelharrison1093 wow, I wonder where the car is now
Your NA 4age is not going to brake a TTI gearbox. We run one in a 900hp supra track car and its been in for 9 years no problems. Its been out and striped once a few years ago just for a look inside and it was all good.
@@Sager-fs9bv the reports that I’ve heard were the magnesium cases cracking, not sure if that’s what Eddie was referring to. The ae86 box TTI do is specifically designed for NA so I’m sure if we put one behind a high powered turbo 4age it wouldn’t last long. Thanks for the comment brother
Met Eddie at Toyotafest a couple weeks ago and had a good chat about the car. Seems like an absolute legend
That's where I met him years ago too
Wow - I've had small chats with Eddie over Facebook, but it's so cool to see his work and how his brain works. Incredible workmanship he produces!
He's very well known on social media, Absolute legend in real life
I could listen to this stuff for hours!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eddie and I usually talk for a couple of hours before we run out of time, I should turn on the camera next time
Podcast
where do you purchase the fire ring for the 4age
Mat gets them made custom, best to send him an email if you need some
Bug eye starlets are quite rare let alone 2 door
The rarity makes me want one even more
Eddie is a legend
Sure is, and he's always willing to help fellow toyota enthusiasts
4AGE..... Oooooh-wee!!!!
Mad car !
The 4afe came wiry a similar 7 rib block
All 4AFEs I've seen got squirters. They are just 20V blocks.
Not sure if you missed it but Eddie bought the block from Loynings in the states, he was just explaining what they prefer
We gotta get a video of this guy's car with a microphone under the bonnet going to 11+, please please please it would sound crazy. Barely any videos on youtube of 4A's spinning up past 9. Great vid 👍
Great idea man, I'll prioritise another video when the car gets tuned
please do another video when he tunes it to 12k
Your gonna be waiting a loooooooooooooong time
@@noobatnothing It won't make power at 12K man. It's just not possible given the valve size compared to the stroke. If he like destroked it to a 1.4L he might be able to but not as a 1.6L.
I'll prioritise it when the car is ready
@@garage4k989 I'll prove you wrong mate
No you won’t
THIS WAS SICK !!! 🔥🔥🔥 and yes you do need a Starlet haha 😎 Thanks a bunch for sharing 👍🏽
I'll start up a dedicated Starlet savings account
Nice car, but I'm calling BS on the 600kg quoted weight in the video thumbnail. Factory curb weight of a KP60 is 710 kg. Old mate has swapped in a heavier engine, gearbox, diff, struts, brakes, dry sump system etc.. It is almost impossible to engine swap an older car, keep it streetable and make it lighter than factory. I know this because I have a 1993 Ford Festiva WA (1st gen) 3 door Trio (base spec) which has a factory curb weight of 750kg. I have swapped in a B6T (Laser TX3 turbo engine), IHI RHF5 turbo, intercooler, EFI conversion and a G series fwd gearbox (stronger). To reduce weight I have stripped as much of the interior as possible, changed to a lithium battery, custom made a lightweight side exit exhaust, done a rear wiper and spare tyre delete and a few other things. Last time I weighed it came in at 755kg with a full tank of fuel. To make it significantly lighter I'd have to change to polycarbonate windows and make carbon fiber bonnet, doors and hatch. The only FWD road cars around 600kg are classic Minis and Kei cars such as Daihatsu Miras etc.. For RWD cars the only ones I can think of are kit cars like Caterhams etc.. The lightest Lotus Elises are over 700kg. As for modified RWD cars, the Hayabusa engined KE10 being built by Nugget Garage may go close to 600kg.
@@MotoWot the interior looked gutted out to me
It's legit I had a similar setup and it weighed in the same!
@@kylestephenson3004 You are missing the point, gutting the interior isn't going to get this car anywhere near 600kg.
Also is 30mm shorter at the front than the MK2 and mk3. It all adds up and is lighter than the more common later models. It might not be 600kgs but will be pretty close. @@samthesr20man
Stop saying like man it's like annoying like
@@kylestephenson3004 hahaha I was too excited and had trouble articulating everything going through my head

@@kylestephenson3004 100% you’re no wrong, I noticed that when I was editing but decided to just leave it in. I used to really struggle with always adding umm in between sentences, that bad habit comes back sometimes too

When you put the window trim back around- Was it mostly reuseable? or did you have to replace it? Looking to repaint my rolla here in the near future- wondering how likely this stuff is to destroy itself on removal
I was lucky that mine were in good condition so I reused them
what head is better for turbocharging 20v or 16v could you do A ROAD RACE turbo 4age build
Nice video :)
Thanks mate
👍
83mm piston ❤?😊
can you do a updated videos addressing comments. thanks
I like the 4age, granted it is not powerful by modern standards. But I did crack the headers a month or so ago. Welded and have back up headers on deck.
Very nice brother! I've got a question for ya, I'm doing a w58 trans swap my self and I'm wondering if you could share what you used for the transmission bracket and also what direction did you go as far as the drive shaft. Thanks in advance
I’m looking into building a 7age I have a 95 celica with the 7afe I was wondering what I’d need to do for an ecu, or could I maybe use the stock 7afe ecu with the 4a head and sensors?
Great video, Great Journey. I give you guys tons of credit for pushing though. I will have to go back and watch the other videos. Maybe it tells why the team didn't stay with the Mazda engine that was in the Swift 016.
Love this build! Just watched this and will be watching the others.
