What the LDS brother was trying to explain to Apologia is that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints relies heavily on the Holy Ghost as well as scripture for the truth. Apologia only ever relies on their interpretation of scripture because they do not have the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The Bible teaches; Luke 24:32, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:13, Acts 1:2, Acts 5:32, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 2:10-14, 1 Corinthians 12:3, 2 Peter 1:19-21. 1 John 5:6.

Saying that anyone being flogged and crucified would have paid for their own sins completely misses the spiritual aspect of what was happening there. Jesus was not just a human man, but the only *perfect* man who is also God incarnate. He, being perfect and without sin, took the penalty for all of our guilt onto himself (Colossians 2:14) and by doing this he satisfied both the justice and mercy of God at the same time. It’s beautiful. He made a way for a sinner like me (and you) to be reconciled to a perfectly holy God. I could go on and on. It took me a long time to realize what the point of the cross was, but I can honestly say I haven’t been the same since I understood it.

No Sins Were Forgiven by Jesus's death on the Cross. That's why Jesus gave the Priests of His One and Only Holy Catholic Church, which He Himself established here on earth, the power and authority to forgive sins through Baptism and Confession. When Ephesians 2 says that salvation is not a result of works it is referring to the works of the mosaic law and not the works of faith required in the gospel of Jesus Christ; James 2:14-26.

Colossians 1:16 gives the context of “all things” that Jesus created; he created all thrones, dominions, principalities and powers.

Appologia doesn't understand the sanctification process. A truly converted Christian will change their behavior. Christ can take a caterpillar so to speak, if it's willing , and change it into a butterfly . 6:20 It would be confusing if you choose to ignore the clarification of all of this in James 2. Clearly it is not by faith only. James 2:17 - "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:24 - "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

Not sure if he’s being arrogant or impossibly frustrated that their people who think that Jesus wants them to tear down other religions with pseudo intellectualism and mostly subjective arguments. Apologia says the sinner on the cross just asked Jesus to remember him and he was saved. But Apologia don’t know that the thief on the cross hadn’t repented and been baptised before being arrested and convicted by the Romans. To say that all he did was ask Christ to remember him is based on pure ignorance.

Apologia are saying that baptism isn’t a saving ordinance. The Bible says; Mark 16:16, John 3:5, 1 Peter 3:21.

In Isaiah 40-46 Jehovah is telling idol worshipping Israelites that they should only be worshipping him. The reason the Bereans were double checking their scriptures for what Paul was saying is because they knew he was using a Greek translation of the Old Testament and they were unsure that was 100% correct.

I don’t know why Apologia ever mention Deuteronomy 13 since Joseph Smith only ever advocated the worship of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Re Deuteronomy 18, what untrue prophecies did Joseph Smith ever make?
