Here three years later and couldn’t be more grateful to come across this video. A volatile relationship with my mum throughout most of my childhood led me to become attached to older women, in particular, two years ago I had a close relationship with my friend’s mother who was also my manager. She took advantage of me in a similar way, but it was also physical. You mentioning that her teacher had low self esteem hit home because she craved my validation almost as much as I did hers, but I got upset at her once and tried to set boundaries so she completely iced me out right before I moved overseas and proceed to deny ever knowing me. More recently, I’ve been working through this and I finally built up the courage to tell someone and told one of my teachers who I felt close with. She was gentle and supportive and it felt like by telling her I was healing, but I guess I misjudged and not long after I told her she began acting cold, avoiding spending time with me and we’ve never mentioned it since. It absolutely breaks me because this feels like a self-perpetuating cycle.

I think the fact that many woman suppress their own needs due to trauma (chronically low self esteem) plays a big role. Many woman are completely out of touch with their own wants and need, especially sexually. This in connection to the conditioning of striving for male validation makes it very hard for lesbians to even recognize that they like woman at all. When all you’re taught and role-modeled was to seek being wanted by a man you don’t realize there is any other option. In addition it’s not even possible to realize it if they’re so out of touch with their own sexual drive. (Haven’t watched the full video yet tho, so maybe you already mentioned this)
