You’re not a professional athlete bro. That’s the difference. Even the silent killers like Tim Duncan had to communicate at a very high level. They had to talk more often than what they wanted. It’s just a part of basketball especially in today’s game where everyone is super talented; you have to communicate at an elite level.

U don’t gotta be this “gritty” team to be successful, especially when that’s just not who these type of players are. They are a hardworking high IQ team. For example look at the nuggets, they didn’t get it all the way done but we know that nuggets still a well put together team that plays on a strong. Look at the dynasty spurs. Ellis won't be in the starting lineup long. It'll go back to Huerter when he is 100% healthy. Ellis also isn't a starting caliber player yet. He would've never started had Huerter and Monk not gone down

Keon is starting when he started kings had top 3 def in the league...huerter probably getting mins at the 3 because keon wouldn't get any mins with monk and him at the 2

@NOCALGooN916 While the Kings had the 4th best defense with Ellis starting, not only was it such a small sample size, we still lost most of those games. Ellis is a good player but he isn't a quality starter yet with the team fully healthy. Also, the officiating changed after coming out of the All Star game. We were already working our way into a Top 10 prior to Ellis even starting. If Huerter and Monk don't go down, not only do we not lose our offense, we also make playoffs. Ellis can be a starter in this league in the future but he is not ready to be the starting 2 guard if Huerter if fully healthy.

@NOCALGooN916 Our offense dipped big time once Ellis started, the pace changed and things got so much slower. Ellis' defense was great but when your offense slips too and much worse than what you give up on the defense, you can't win games. Ellis is a backup and will be for at least another year or 2.

@frimports We may but Keegan got the matchup a lot of times against the bigger Forward between him and Barnes. Murray is more than capable of guarding the 4. That was the position he played last season. DeRozan and Huerter will also get run at the 3. I think we have size if we need it between Len, Lyles and Robinson. McDaniels may even get some run here and there. Our size isn't going to be much of a problem once Huerter gets back from injury and being in that starting unit

He better off the bench and it makes more because we need that spark plus keon provides good defense and doesn't need to shoot as much and there ain't enough shots to go around

Nah huerter needs to earn that roll back he was a brick machine last year . Ellis starting or monk makes the most sense with how our roster is now

@SKOOBZTERZ Monk is our 6th man and that won't change. Ellis isn't good enough to start. Ellis didn't do that great last season or we would've won a few more games to make playoffs outright. Ellis is a good defender but that's basically it. He didn't shoot enough to make that a draw to his game. We went 4-7 in the last 11 when Monk went down

@SKOOBZTERZ Stats and the way the team played with Huerter vs Ellis, the Kings were almost 13 pts betteKinThe way we spaced the ball, played with more pace and the way he was guarded opened better looks up for Fox, Murray and Sabonis. It closed up when Ellis played because teams didn't guard him as hard and dared him to shoot. He passed up on a lot of shots too. Something that gets you benched. Yet the Kings had no choice to play him with Huerter and Monk out for the season

The starting 5 isn't going to be the same to start the season. Ellis has to start the season until Huerter is fully healthy and then Huerter will take over once he is back. That picture though will be the closing lineup and excited for it! No chance we get KAT. Would've had to give up Fox or Sabonis to salary match

Ellis makes the 2nd team better too. Ellis is not a starter in this league yet. Ellis will start at the 2 guard until Huerter is fully healthy and then move back to the 2nd unit to have defense and help scoring off the bench. We already have Fox and Murray who are plus defenders but have nobody in the 2nd unit that is a plus defender. Ellis is best suited off the bench too next to Monk

I think you could play either in either unit and they make them better. Also, just because one starts doesn't mean they won't play with the other unit. Mike Brown staggers his rotations.

@LockedOnKings I think all 3 fit but Monk and Huerter are the ones that fit best and if Monk is the 6th man as well as finishing games, Huerter would start and Ellis off the bench

I’m a Huge Fox fan but the man always talks a good game. Then proceeds to coast nonchalantly through half the season. He lacks that fire he had his first few seasons. He needs to play with a chip on his shoulder and up his aggressiveness on the court. He is definitely capable of it.

I think another year in, the fact Mike brown made it pretty clear Kevin will be the starter to give confidence and the fact now we have derozan and fox so that pressure when a bucket is needed is a pick your poison and takes stress off fox, but having to deal with fox and derozan guys like Kevin and Keegan are going to have allot more easy looks
