They’re mad because we flipped the pecking order of the NBA and are beating their preferred Cali teams in the Lakers and Warriors bc they have made the media more money the man us over the years and they don’t want to do journalism on all 30 teams.

The downfall of the Kings last year was Huerter, Barnes and Murray all playing beneath expectations, Monk being out the last month of the season, and Fox being our only reliable offensive weapon for long periods of time. We would get in deep offensive lulls, fall double digits into the hole, and even lose nice leads. It's all a momentum thing, and that's precisely what DeRozan fixes for this team. Make that one offensive patch, and suddenly the Kings not only beat the OKCs and Minns and Denvers of the world, but also the teams they are supposed to beat. I see at least 55 wins.

I dont understand this take at all. I think it's lazy (and many have said it). The Kings can't afford to wait for anyone. They know Keegan can be a lethal catch and shoot weapon now, and his defensive development has nothing to do with DeRozan. Plus, working with one of the best iso mid range scorers in the league will help Keegan improve his ability to create for himself.

How fast will he adapt? Its not like we added milal bridges when you are sure he will fit perfectly. But i am sure he knows that he is coming to help not to be 1st option. Sabonis is fore sure top20 player but to shut all doubters he needs a good playoff run. Thats it. Same as with doncic, he had one good playoff run and he insta became a top3 player. And noone cares about his defense anymore.

I honestly can't figure out why they think the Kings are going to be bad this season.
    1. DeMar DeRozan - Adding him gives that 2nd offensive option to De'Aaron Fox. The guy who can be 20-25 ppg and make it that much harder for teams to beat the Kings.
    2. Keeping Malik Monk. A highly underrated move. I saw so many posts about how they knew Monk would be in Miami or New York or with the Lakers it wasn't funny. Not understanding that Monk found home here in Sacramento. He is playing with his best friend, loves the city and the fansand loves the direction of the team and he respects the coaching staff.
Those things have to matter as well.
    3. A better Bench. - getting PG Jordan McLaughlin, F Jalen McDaniels and backup Center Orlando Robinson are highly encouraging moves. All of them add a lot in terms of athleticism. McLaughlin is a really good defender and has more upside to his offensive game than Davion Mitchell. Orlando Robinson hasn't had his chance yet to show what he can do. But, a lot of teams seemed to want to get him as well because he is a young, athletic big who plays hard and has a good upside. He isn't likely ever going to be an all-star player, but he can be a really good backup center, maybe even a guy who van be trusted to start and do well if someone goes down with an injury. Jalen McDaniels is a really solid backup forward.
    4. Devin Carter. - While this draft class was not a great one, Carter was one of those guys a lot of really good teams were hoping he would fall to them because they can see he has a good game and plays hard. He might not play much during the regular season, but he has some significant upside and teams wanted this kid. I know Philadelphia, Cleveland and Minnesota were all interested in him. Not expecting him to be a star player, but because they feel like the Kings obviously do, he could be a really good role player for a team.
That is 5 upgrades from last season.
    Then add on the returners.
Keegan Murray, Domantis Sabonis, Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, De'Aaron Fox, Trey Lyles, Alex Len and Keon Ellis.
That is a team 13 deep. With 1 question mark and 1 open roster spot. Last season, I think they had nearly nothing once past the top 9 guys. The final 6 guys, should have been at least pretty good, but none of them provided much. That is why they are gone.
Adding DeMar DeRozan, fixes a couple of issues the Kings had on the offensive side of the ball vs last season with Harrison Barnes.
    1. Free Throw Shooting. - DeRozan is an elite free throw shooter. Something the Kings needed as an incentive to get better from the foul line. They gave away at least a good 5-7 games last season because of poor shooting from the foul line. I expect that someone as elite ss DeRozan is with thet skill, to help with not just his own elite skills, but to help guys like Keegan Murray get better at it as well.
The other thing that it helps with, the mid-range game. Another area the Kings struggled with. Sure, Sabonis is overall a good mid range player, so are most of the Kings, but every team knew if you could disrupt the flow of Sabonis and Fox, you would shut down the mid range game for the team. DeRozan makes that impossible to do, because they can't slack off of Barnes to put help on Sabonis snd Fox defensively. Now they have to play man to man and that lets Fox thrive. That lets Sabonis thrive. That lets DeRozan thrive. Not many people can keep up with Fox or guard Sabonis or DeRozan one on one.
Then you add in that DeRozan and Fox each are clutch players who thrive in 4th quarter pressure situations and are the last 2 clutch players of the year, that should earn a lot of respect from any team and it's fanbase.
I still think the Kings are in the 4-6 range for this upcoming season.
Dallas, Minnesota and OKC, yes... clearly better right now.
Denver, it is close, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are beasts. They have still a pretty good supporting cast around them.
But they aren't as good as that championship team from two seasons ago. They might not be as good as last season after losing KCP.
Then you look at Sacramento, Phoenix, New Orleans...these should be the 4-6 teams. They are just clearly better than the teams below them.
Memphis, if Ja Morant isn't on the floor because of injury issues or more behavior issues then they are a bottom 2-3 team in the NBA. Just because they lose their identity without him. When Ja is on the floor, they are a dangerous team. But right now, they can't be trusted.
Houston, I will agree is an up and coming team.
San Antonio will be better than the disaster they were last season. I still don't think they will be a good team, but they will be better.
The Lakers did nothing to really show they could get better. It is nearly the exact same cast as last season. People need to stop acting like LeBron James is the same olayer he was 5-7 years ago. He has changed his game to be a perimeter player, but he isn't on the same level as he was years ago. He is hitting the age 40 wall this season. Which no matter how good any athlete is, they all hit. It is that place where injuries take longer to heal, you don't have as much bounce as you used to. You just can't run as fast as you used to do. Your eyesight starts to decline a little.
It doesn't mean you can't still be really good, it means that with an injury that might take 2-4 games to heal up, it now takes 4-6 games for that same injury. A pass you could hit 3 years ago, you might not be able to hit because of court vision decline. Stuff like that.
    The Clippers clearly got worse.
The Warriors are a play-in team at best. If Steph Curry goes down, they might be in the top 5 picks in the draft conversation.
The Jazz, at best a play-in team. At worst, one of the worst 5 teams in the NBA. I tend to be more optimistic on them because of Lauri. He has just shown he can be a really damn good player. I know they don't have a ton behind him, but they aren't garbage either.
Portland.... probably the worst team in the NBA. The single team who should be trying to trade Anfernee Simmons, Robert Williams 3 and Jeremi Grant for picks so they can really get the next great Blazers team developing.
So I don't know how the Kings aren't a 4-6 team with the possibility of higher depending on how the trade deadline shakes out.
It makes zero sense to me. This is a dangerous team. If they do the same on the Defensive side (10-14) with a top 1-5 offense, this is going to be a tough team for anyone to beat. It isn't to say that the Kings are perfect, they still have some issues to work out. Who will win that 14th roster spot? Who will be the 15th man? Will they be able to improve in the areas they struggled with last season?
Legitimate questions. But to ignore the upsides of what they did is really stupid as well. They are more athletic, have a deep bench, imo. Have a harder offense to stop, should be a pretty decent defense, have great coaching and have a team that doesn't give up when it matters. Mike Brown also has a 94-70 record over the last two seasons. I think if I am correct, better than the last 3 coaches combined or at least very close to it.
He is already the second best coach in the Sacramento era.
That is a big deal and it shouldn't be ignored. People are still sleeping on the Kings. Fine. But that just means the Kings get to give them nightmares while they sleep.

In all fairness, if Sabonis played like He did the entire 82 game season in the playoffs against Golden State 2 years ago they win in 6 maybe even 5.
That ruined the perception. Had the media talking heads with millions of followers calling him soft on twitter and on the morning talk shows. He shrank for sure.
I was Sabonis biggest fan in Indiana so im not saying this as a hater or spiteful, its an absolute fact.
Great thing about the NBA is its a what have you done lately league. One dominant playoff series will change that perception but until it does he will have his naysayers.
Warriors visibly got into his head and he shrank on the biggest stage after having an almost MVP regular season.
Unfortunately players are ultimately judged by how they do in the playoffs. Just the way it is.

Why would anyone on the planet trust Ja Morant? Its absolute insanity to have any positive expectations from Memphis whatsoever.
Let me tell You about A player that was BETTER then Morant before the host of this podcast was even born. His name was Anfernee Hardaway.
Yes BETTER then Ja Morant. 1st team all NBA his SECOND year in the league and the NBA was absolutely filled with star players back then.
Then after his 2nd injury, He wasnt. Was a shell of himself the rest of his career. Never came close to being the same player after his 4th NBA season.

Just the way it goes. Difficult to not get fired up and riled up about it but its just the way it is.
No one is picking Indiana to do much of anything this year let alone win the chip and they just made the conference finals and outplayed the eventual champs 3/4 games. No one cares or believes. Just the way it is.
If Kings make conference finals they will be perceived differently absolutely. I think they havE A GREAT chance to do so.

Ask yourself: 1) who is it that you think is “whining” in this case and 2) are they the same person/people who can “go out there and win something”?
