You know why they banned the AR? The government doesn’t want the average citizen to have a really good rifle. Had nothing to do with public safety. My Colt MRR I could hit 18” gongs at 500 yards with my red dot. I can only get 6” groupings at 100 yards with my X95 and an LPVO. Fuck how I miss being able to use my AR. These Canadian complaint ARs fucking suck!

Well I'm glad to see that Keltec stopped their coke bender long enough to think "Hey... What if someone puts a dot on it?" but I'd say they still took the wrong approach by making it twist, they should have just done a side folder. As for a grip, I think the only thing that would really work to keep it kinda slim is like a Magpul AFG or similar design but I've noticed your fondness for the Fortis. Your gun, your style. I really don't think there are any real good survival guns in Canada. Our laws mean compact isn't really compact if you want semi-auto, and I'm not gonna be the guy to test my luck against a angry grizzly or a moose with 9mm or under when there are other far more effective options. The only good option I can thing of that also is a backpack gun would be maybe a Henry Mare's Leg, maybe a Mossberg shockwave 🤷‍♂

Was out yesterday with a few friends, one just picked up one of these. I have a PC9 out for the day too, but this was great fun. I love my PC9, with upgrades, but think Imight have to grab one of these too. I agree on every point you made, its the weight and the hand guard that seemed to make it so fun.

Unironically I love the way this thing looks. If someone were to make a high quality version of this I'd definitely buy. I don't even care about the folding feature either.

Have you tried the Ruger PC carbine? It's superior by every conceivable metric except for price and weight. Unless you're super concerned about weight (portaging?), I can't see why you wouldn't just cough up a couple hundred more for the Ruger. Great video (minus the low audio level), I liked how you gave both the pros and cons from a uniquely Canadian perspective. Cheers!

He's right about not pre-ordering this rifle! I pre-ordered the ATRS Modern Sporter when it first came out. Took over a year to get mine. Totally wasn't worth the wait! Not to mention this could easily get banned with the stroke of a pen!

I won’t shoot anything with a 5 round mag. The Kodiak defense wk 180 556 has 10 round mags.

I wouldn't even THINK about dropping a pre-order on one of these UNTIL the RCMP Firearms Office gives it an FRT number. For the lesser price, yaaaa some may bite. To be able to use 10 round crossmags ... is it worth that, and the added expense to outfit a Lockhart to match the Crusader Crypto, I'd say probably. The big bonus with a Lockhart is that you should be able to do a caliber change with a new magwell, boltface and barrel, and now you have a 308 or 7.62x39. The Lockhart will also take AR10 stell pistol mags ... so definite winner. I need to get a side hustle going, or come outa retirement and go back work !! Like Colion Noir says .... need money for pew pews !! hahaha !

One thing though I wouldn’t say never buy a preorder. If you want to buy a gun or part from Lockhart that isn’t in stock you might be waiting be waiting even longer if you don’t preorder. My rifle arrived on time with part preorders sometimes it’s quick sometimes it’s slow. I can sympathize with the wait times though, it’s a small business in rural Vancouver Island that is likely dealing with huge demand of their products which require skilled people and expensive machinery to produce.

Thanks for the video, very interesting discussions to be had. This crypto is a hard no for me, but I hope it works to keep these Canadian companies going and innovating. If laws get changed and AR’s are back on the menu, the competition will be fierce. These guns will not be able to compete with sub $900 AR’s.
