    you should sell a TM base print for those who don’t have access to a 3d printer

  • @Minihobbes117
    @Minihobbes117 Месяц назад +1

    Question, when you printed the pmags, where did you find a baseplate that would fit? Or did you just hold down the bottom of the mag when you glued it

    • @bats8888
      @bats8888  Месяц назад

      You just have to use lots of glue and hold it to the mag. The printed piece is the new base plate. Let it sit on there at least overnight before use.

    I bought the TM22 Gen 1 when it came out thing has been reliable AF like 3k rounds through it

  • @worstcase519

    Dope looking TM22.
    Only issue with this gun is the bolt stop/pad whatever its called... the rubber will, over time, get deformed and actually sink into the buffer tube.
    At 2k rounds, I took off the stock and added some material to stop the rubber from getting pushed inside.
    If you dont the bolt handle will smash up against the slot. Common issue with these.

    • @varinra
      @varinra 5 месяцев назад +4

      The TM 22 Feather has a re-designed the bolt stop pad. The buffer tube has no contact with the pad at all. The pad in the Feather is a rectangular piece of rubber sitting at the end of the receiver which can be removed and replaced when needed. The design of the Feather is much updated with respect to its aluminum predecessor.

    Just picked one of these up, I love it! Would you happen to know where a guy could buy those magazine base plates, 3D printed or otherwise? The weird little mags this uses are honestly the only thing I don't like about the look.

    • @bats8888
      @bats8888  4 месяца назад +1

      The file is available on Thingiverse for free. If you have a friend, ask them to 3d print it. If not, look locally to see if there are any 3d printed stores. Just take the file there.

      @@bats8888 I appreciate it! Either way, definitely inspired me to do something similar to get a better looking magazine. I almost wish they would have made them like that stock, it's just so small and curved it really takes away from the overall design. Thanks for the vid & reply

    I got a TM22 and the first 10 round magazine the gun began to malfunction. The firing pin was punching right through the shells and primer and gun powder was blowing back and out of every opening. The gun sounded like it was blowing up from the inside. Every 5 to 8 shots it would repeat sometimes every shot. A few rounds were stuck on the hook that pulls the shell out of the barrel. And the firing pin had not retracted. My 10 year old son shot the gun first and was scared that he was hit with Scrap metal or ricochet. Do not buy. And then RIA gave me the run around to fix I had to beg SportsMan where-house to let me warranty it and fix it.

    • @bats8888

      Yes. The printed piece essentially becomes the new base plate (which is why it's necessary to let the super glue set for a while before use).

    Took my rock island 22 to the range for the 1st time
    I was a disaster of dangerous proportions.
    The thing jammed bad.
    2 range watchers couldn't get it.
    Jammed so bad the magazine wouldn't eject.
    One Took it to a safe place and got it cleared.
    Handed me the mangled bullets and said that was the problem.
    I set it down and just fired my 22 pistol.
    That also was getting jammed.
    Bad ammo?
    Winchester 22s I was using plus some high velocity cci .
    Think it was the cci that caused the issues in the rifle.
    Didn't try the rifle even though I probably should have.

    You should check with a gunsmith about shortening and re threading the barrel. I got my 308 threaded for a break and it was only 30 bucks. I was shocked at how cheap it was.

    • @bats8888
      @bats8888  5 месяцев назад

      You can't cut a barrel below 18", even if it's rimfire. Dlask makes a 10" TM22 barrel though

    • @wildnorthadventures
      @wildnorthadventures 5 месяцев назад

      @@bats8888 I was always under the impression that if it’s rim fire it’s the oal that’s the main thing. Kinda why they sell that short barreled gsg with the pinned stock. But don’t quote me. I’m not 100%

    • @bats8888
      @bats8888  5 месяцев назад

      That's for determining NR/R status. The cutting of barrels falls under a completely different section.
      The likely reason is to stop sawed off NR shotguns. Why they chose 18", idk.

    • @wildnorthadventures
      @wildnorthadventures 5 месяцев назад

      @@bats8888 ah I see what you mean. I mis understood your last comment. That makes sense. So you’re not allowed to have your gunsmith shorten your barrel, re-crown and thread the muzzle?
      In my first comment I had my gunsmith do the threading and re-crown my 308 but there was no shortening the barrel. I just assumed it would be ok as long as you stayed over the min oal.

    • @bats8888
      @bats8888  5 месяцев назад

      @wildnorthadventures a gunsmith can do that, but only if the barrel stays over 18". Of you want a shorter barrel, you need a brand new barrel and swap it out.

      This one was just a barrel sleeve, it had no muzzle effect at all.

I posted details on thefiringline forum semi auto rifle section. Search for "TM22 Feather failure to cycle fix".
