IF IT HAS AN FRT, MEANING IT EXISTS RIGHT NOW, IT IS UNAFFECTED BY C-21.
If you want to double check, go to Armalytics.ca and search up the gun. If it's there, it's unaffected.

Also, a new government might think of issuing a new category of license re handguns that could allow for the freeze to thaw for those holding said licenses. The Chretien government did this in '96 for the newly prohibited handguns. There are creative ways this tyranny can be ended.

What about this new Firearms committee they want to develop? Won't they now just start banning each gun by OIC, only one at a time now?
That's their plan, but they don't seem to want to do it. They are months passed their deadline to hand in a list, let alone form it.
It's just too logistically complicated for them to actually do it. If they can't get the guns from 2020, they can't get anything more.

A new firearms act should look something like this.
10 Firearm Commandments
1. Thou shalt have multiple firearms in thy possession
2. Thou shalt have ample ammo for each firearm in thy possession.
3. Thou shalt defend thy family and homestead
4. Thou shalt carry thy firearm everywhere
5. Thou shalt not carry firearms in anger or rage
6. Thou shalt control thy muzzle beyond thy target
7. Thou shalt take to thy range every fortnight to practice
8. Thou shalt stay sober while carrying
9.Thou shalt assume that every firearm is loaded.
10. Thou shalt always practice trigger finger discipline.
This is the way.

One sad part of all this is that WHEN the statistics come out about violent crime involving the use of a firearm actually increases, rather than admitting that this bill was useless, Liberal Politicians will just scream that we need even stricter legislation on guns. Here's where I'm confused. Is it only newly designed firearms (as in firearms designed after the date that the OIC is put into effect) that are affected or does this mean all "new" styles of firearm. If so, what does "new" mean? Basically, can I still buy a Bren 2 or a Tavor?

@@rickbring5993 According to bats, the OIC only affects weapons designed after the date the OIC goes into effect. This is how I'm understanding what he's saying and what Armalytics is saying. They have a list of all of their firearms and their current legal status on their site. Not as bad as I though it was gonna be but also a ridiculously absurd law that does literally nothing to prevent gun crime and makes buying guns harder for the average law abiding citizen.
If they reverse it great. I doubt the CPC will do much more than lip service if they get into power.

If exist in the FRT now, it's fine. But if a new one comes out, even if it takes pinned mags, it's prohibited because it is still capable of accepting non-pinned mags.

The ammo part has been like that for years.
A magazine that holds a common round would almost be impossible to make and the problem is no ammo manufacture will make a round spifically for the very small Canadian market. An example of this is the almost inposability to find 303 british every time the US tightens ammo production.

They could make firearms regulations a provincial thing and every province could have their version of it with provisions for traveling with the firearm across the provinces. Every province could handle their own licensing. They could take the standard AR maxwell and add a protruding tab in the well and a channel on the mag to receive that tab so standard US AR mags won't seat. The Canadian mag will be full size but only hold the legal 5rds, the rest of the mag will be empty storage space where you can keep your skittles.
I have said this same thing for a long time. Every Province should control firearms legislation themselves and that the Federal Govt out of the equation. No different than the US. I feel if it ever happens Alberta and Saskatchewan will be the first.

I think good advice for firearm purchasing in Canada, regardless of bans is this; If you can't afford to potentially have a paperweight, it's not a good idea.

So long as the LPC is the government of Canada, there is always a non-zero chance it can get banned.
Also, from a smart financial decision angle; if you can't afford to buy any ammo because of your financial position, it's gonna be a paperweight. So make sure you can afford everything. This one applies to every gun.

You partially wrong, the prohibited definition only applies to newly designed firearms with a detachable magazine and where initially designed to take 6+ rounds, it doesn't apply to everything capable.
I clarified this later in the video when talking about workarounds
However you can not design a firearm to take a detachable mag mag that can only hold 5 rounds, you can design proprietary 5 round mags but someone could manufacture a mag that it could take that holds 30.
@johnbradley2879 if you design the gun to take a proprietary 5 round mag it doesn't matter if someone later comes along and designs a 30 round mag capatible with it, the legistlation explicitly states "initially designed to take a detachable maginze holding 6+ rounds",
As the firearm was initially designed to only take a 5 round mag this section doesn't apply.

Meaning what? It’s not on the market yet? And Is it safe to say anything Cabelas is selling for instance is “legal”? Definitely a confusing bill

30 days after Royal Assent, so on January 14, 2024, you will need to verify a PAL or give PAL info.
