Wow, everybody under HEAVY manners! But what happened? How did we get from that wonderful utopia back then to where we are now?
@@CurtisCT Sorry… Jamaica was never Utopia. Don’t be fooled by the video

So it seems the opposition party influenced the political arena that brought this into a shootout alley in the late 70’s and 80’s. Seaga brought hope and advancement to the dirt poor and the future of their children.
Where is Goldsmith Drive please? Is this ST Andrew?
Yes, this is close to August Town near UWI Mona campus
I like whatyou are doing Mutabaruka
The white man always have to be the Savior no matter where you go in the world the white man is the savior. Are ancestors blood cry out

Wow! this is what was needed for all communities in Jamaica that surely would have given the great majority of people a chance. Instead a lot of them were forced to leave Jamaica to look for a new life abroad to find work. In so doing a lot of them experienced poor housing and general institutional racism for years. They would have been better off in a community like this documentary shows in their own country of Jamaica. Tivoli gardens back then was a thriving community and the vision for it was on point. Corruption today has prevented a lot of Jamaicans in poor communities from experiencing this kind of development. Even Britain could have learnt from such a vision back in those days, a third world country that achieved this. Wish I was brought up in such an environment that I could have thrived in that way. All benefitted from babies to pensioners. A true utopia society. I found the documentary extremely encouraging. I’ve never known a prime minister in my life time to have done this. These documentaries should be shown in schools to show parents and children how a thriving environment impacts their future.
My mothers Generation❤ I wish I had the opportunity to witness Any of This❤ thanks for this opportunity to see My Parents Generation Dreams ❤ revisted May 12 2024❤❤❤Dobie Wan Kanobie ❤❤❤❤

One of the toughest political garrisons
What happened to this guy .such talent
Just did a podcast with him, I’ll send the link in a couple days
Before being named Jamaica Information Service it was called API. I can't recall what those initials meant
Actually it was originally JIS then the PNP changed it to API (Agency for Public Information) and Seaga promptly changed it back to JIS in 1980 when he came to power.😂😂😂
Very great and informative program
Thanks 🙏
Ricardo "Bibi" Gardner is definitely my favorite Reggae Boyz player...I liked his flair and dribbling he was very flashy....but effective he played in the Premier League for years for Bolton Wanderers....very established footballer
❤
Great story of my father. Well done with factual information. Dave was a really good friend to my father in life and after death.
Great to hear from Mr. McKinley’s daughter! John Messam my co-producer and I both went to Calabar, as you know your father is a legend there. It was an honour to make the film, it was shown on local TV in Jamaica for the launch of the London Olympics broadcast. Sadly John passed away a couple years ago. Thanks for the kind comments 🙏
Saw him make his debut @ Shef Wednesday in the Prem for BWFC, Watched him grow into the General... Awesome player ..\0/..

Herbert Henry McKenley O J.....Walk Good
Love this vedio everyone innocent
PJ Patterson and the PNP demonised this man..NO BODY LOVE JAMAICA OR JAMAICANS LIKE THIS MAN!! Seaga is the ultimate nation builder and visionary..Every aspect of Jamaican life, from our music our religous practices, our economy, skills and training..Eddie just needed 20 years.. the craddle to grave concept would have taken us so far ahead. Manley's communist leaning only force the US to intervene in our politics and we all know what happened after. The biggest problem with our politics at the time, is that the PNP refuse to fund or continue projects or programmes started under the JLP and they politicise everything, It was evident the concept worked, why not continue and expand..just because it's a JLP programme,,doesn't matter it meant JAMAICANS would benifit. When eddie came back in power in 1980 Tivoli decline but he continue, the next big project was to to rebuild downtown kingston using the MPM metropolitian Parks and market to manage the newly develop downtown, my parent had to move their business place from east street as it was demolish as part of the new development... the work started and in 1989 JLP loss the election and the PNP left the project right there not one more block was laid...and thats how downtown became an eye sour it was an unfinished building site...Manley, PJ, Portia..nobody continued it.

I'm a huge fan of track and field. The accomplishments of the Jamaican athletes in legendary. Herb Mckenley was one of the athletes who inspired me when I ran track in high school. Thanks for this awesome documentary.
Hi, where can I find a downloadable version of this full video?
Why do you want to download it @dorraineduncan3285 ?
They even cut out the part in the song and said seaga name there vewing him as there god smh you cant do that thats why Tivoli is like that
And then after all this tivoli gardans turn out bad and in to a ghetto under the watchful eve of bruse golding smh look how beautiful Tivoli garden was back then
This documentary will help bring love and great change towards peace and honor to the beautiful land of Jamaica 🇯🇲 🙏🏾 ❤️ ✨️ I am a seed of greatness, and Tivoli's beauty will rebirth. "The rose that grew from concrete." IamOmegasWill ❤
Exactly what I should've added in my post. If the party that took over in 1972 had followed suit. Jamaica would be a first world country today.
I wish that this was copied nationwide. I don't think that Seaga was given enough credit for what he did for Western Kingston and what he wanted to do for Jamaica. His government needed at least 20 years to make a significant transformation to Jamaica. Many Jamaicans are impatient. They thought that the country wasn't moving at their speed which is the reason they voted out the JLP.
Good point, however, when one is suffering patients is not a virtue. The rhythm of Jamaican democracy is two terms. Seaga did what he could in the time he had, other leaders should have taken up the challenge of providing public housing for the poor…and in fairness some did🙏
Papa Eddie. The man wasn't for no handout. He created vision and jobs for his people. RIP
I really enjoyed watching this video, it gave me a lot of insight into the history of Kingston and politics around that time.
Wow wow so it can be done Jamaica can be uplifted
Edward Adolph Hitler seago the butcher of the of Jamaica who kill so many Jamaican the worst ever walk in Jamaica
I appreciate the fact proceeding from Mutabaruka's mouth.
Herb put Jamaica on the track and field map internationally may the good lord bless his soul. One love
HELL on earth I use to spend holidays there with my aunt she was the spiritual mother for Eddie Seaga at Ebenezer Zionist church and one of the first tenant who moved in on Keith Avenue
What does “hell on earth” mean?
This is a very true story.
As much as I am opposed to the politics of Mr. Seaga I admired the development of " bakka wall" into the Community of TG. Sad to see it evolved into the garrison of garrisons.
Not many can be as honest as you 👏🏽
You must be mindful of the role of propaganda and how it specifically impacted Mr. Seaga. How much of what we have learnt to accept about Mr. Seaga is true? How much is propaganda?
Were you a PNP man?
The politicians today should take a page from his book!
As to what respects? Can you specify?
@@devertonpasley4942To maintain the environment and people as aspired by Seaga
Thank you for this great piece of history. Sadly anytime something is an "experiment" or a "project" created for poor black people, it's usually becomes a problem, why? Well because it starts off like a well oiled machine, being cultivated and cared for by it's donors and inhabitants. Until something goes wrong and the people get depressed and anxious and the donors disappear, then the machine gets rusty and can't move anymore and everyone suffers.
Wow..profound
The curses we are under. Read Deuteronomy 28. We are the chosen children of God, who strayed from his laws and are blinded to who we are and that our God requires our obedience. So we get the curses v 15-68 instead of the blessings v 1-14. Nothing will work for us except complete obedience to the God of Israel.
