Public Housing - Western Kingston Jamaica

This film was made for Prof. Patricia Anderson's lecture on public housing in Jamaica, circa 2005. Kingston, Jamaica has an almost century old public housing shortage. Governments in the 1960s and 1970s made attempts to alleviate the problem, however, these efforts were localized and didi little to make meaning change. After almost two decades of no new public housing projects the government of PJ Patterson embarked on a project to erect public housing in the marginalized communities of Kingston. This film looks at the public housing projects undertaken by the National Housing Trust in the early 2000s.
