    I grew up in Kingston and used to ride the train to St Elizabeth to go see my grandmother in the summers,such great memory of a calmer Jamaica then.
    Sweet,sweet Jamaica of yester year.

    This is awesome congrats to Jamaica for having the vision of bringing train service back, In Trinidad we had a prime minister Eric Williams who made the dumbest decision to discontinue train service in 1967 and that has negatively impacted the country to this day with mass traffic jams but im glad that Jamaica did the right thing to resume train service, the train ride looks like fun would love to ride it one day.

    Excellent move. I understand it's a truncated line based on what it was in Jamaica when I was a boy taking it from Hanover to kingston. I think Jamaicans should consider the impact this can have on tourism and treat it as such. I also think the farmers and future farmers should take special in working to extend the service throughout the entire island even if they have to volunteer their service towards this expansion. The economic reward will be tremendous as the agricultural entities can be fully restored. So to extend on the primister's statement: the three focus group of this endeavor should be the school children, tourism and the farming industries. Excellent move- whoever is responsible for this.

    At 0:15 is that an A/C unit retrofitted to the coach? I use to ride the train every week day to school from Portmore it was convenient. Hope it works and not another election ploy. May need to modernize to be sustainable.

    Congrats Jamaica on this fantastic achievement . This is indeed a very great blessing and I hope it would be expanded to the fullest . About 50 years ago the Train was stopped here in Trinidad so I do not know if we would ever see it running here again, but I am very happy for the Jamaica . Thanks .

    Political will plays a big part in what actually gets done and who should get responsibility. Eighteen years is a long time to accomplish a lot of things especially when put into context that this was accomplished in the first threes years of a five year term, Congrats JLP. The start of a rail service in a country is a huge step.

    @danger069gurl which country is that ,if you don't mind me asking? I don't see how people can manage to destroy a street? I haven't seen that in Jamaica. Further more, street up-keeping is a government function and unless people are dropping 2 ton boulders It simply will not be destroyed. Jamaica is famous for poorly constructed roads. Their attempts at a fix for water damage is to repack it with Marl.so you're right " government no do nothing fi them !!" but nyam the $ & live big life!

    some jamaicans should get back to the basics (agriculture) because that was the backbone that kept us strong but due to people scorn farmers saying "mi nuh waan my pikney fi touch dirt" then how is the country going to be if all we have are doctors,nurses, teachers etc, but no one to produce foods for inport and export, surely we would all starve!

    • @aeromaximon
      @aeromaximon 4 года назад

      Same thing we've been saying down here in Barbados. Everybody wants their own piece of the rock, but land still needs to be left back for agriculture, otherwise the country would run out of money importing everything. That's why high rises are the way to go.
      Back to the topic, however. Jamaica has made a smart move implementing passenger train services to move people across the country. That's the direction larger countries are taking.

    I have my reservations about the honesty of the JLP, but without a doubt they're doers unlike the opposition which just oppose, oppose, oppose for no other reason but to make everything this party tries to do fail.I voted for the PNP for over 30yrs but as they currently stand, could not imagine doing it again.I'm all for those who put Jamaica first instead of party. For those who think I'm a JLP groupie, I never said I voted for them in the past nor will I guarantee them my vote in the future

    @nexxlinq it is not only jamaican but for a small country it sure one of the most destructive , but as a jamaican the people will have to do what the government is not doing , we have to remember that we take the train not the government let us keep it clean . a poor man always rob another poor man . the government cant keep tab on every single person activity but so its us who have to b our brother's keeper . as i said before i wish this project all the best still

    I hope people will be objective and look at the things the JLP have accomplished so far with this hard economic time. Look at all the set backs Ja endured, yet the JLP has managed to accoplish a few things. They've made huge mistakes , but still manage to take a few steps forward. What have Portia and the PNP done? Look at her constituency. btw, May Pen is in shambles. Next they need to revive that ttown and some others too

    Where is the train? A hundred plus mile, they can't run. Move those people off the public utility, so that the country can be productive, and stop choking the jamaican economy to death. If you had fully grasp the impotance of the railway, it would have been completed long ago. For even in Africa people are understanding the importance. Why do you think the world is swiftly implementing their railway programs? For timely delivery of people and industrial import export goods, in addition to bringing down the cost of goods.
