Echoes Of Wisdom - A Wonderful Legend Years In The Making
Просмотров 1202 месяца назад
Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge how genuinely insane it is that it's taken until now for Zelda to get her own canonical game. Like I can't believe it took nearly 40 years for a series called the legend of Zelda to actually have its namesake finally BE the protagonist in one of the games. Heck peach got her first game nearly 20 years before Zelda did, this was long overdue. If you e...

    I’m not a fan of Cyber Sleuth but Hacker’s memory is amazing This game would surpass even Pokemon if it wasn’t for EDEN EDEN is so bland and boring They should have used the digital world as the staging instead Also the dialog that you cannot skip was a pain As for the competitive scene I do wish there was a special defense stat INT functioning as both attack and defense was lame and unfair to physical attackers that always have low INT and they are vulnerable to special attackers

    While the amount of enemies is lacking, I think it makes up in the way some attack in certain combinations. Makes you consider who to take out first depending on the situation. Also, I love how even the Red and Green shell are still viable options late game, with the former able to score huge damage even on late game bosses.

    Really liked the review, always happy to see people enjoy one of my favorite game ever. I just wanted to debate about the soul canon of the first game : [TL;DR → Soul canon meant to be a last resort option taht punishes you. Second game reworks makes it feel less impactful imo, though still balanced gameplay wise) I don't believe it was made to be "worth using", I think it's purpose is to be an escape door for people who mismanaged the difficulty of the game. If you play it too safe, you won't be strong enough for the boss, your only otions then are to restart, or to use the canon, which is punishing, but understandably so. You are punished for being too placid and the game does want you to try harder. Saving all the kids is not an easy task, war is not something you'll get through without casualties except if everything falls right into place. That's also the reason I'm torn on the Soul canon rework. On one hand, the system stays with the managarm at a reduced scale, and the soul canon now acts as a ticking time bomb, and that is less impactful in my humble opinion. Also, you can't choose who gets sacrificed so as a gameplay decision, it is great, cause that might rob you of one of your strongest child, punishing a little further your mistakes, but as a story decision kind of ruin the fact that it's your responsability, as you were the one to put them there in the first game (Even though it's still your fault they get put in, but it's not your CHOICE, so there's a little less accountability)

    • @Berdomlikesgames
      @Berdomlikesgames Месяц назад

      Ya know what, that's a very good point! I never thought about the soul cannon from the first game that way, and i actually think i like it better now! Also, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

    Thank you for the awesome review! I was holding off on watching it until i beat the game (which took me a bit longer than expected). As someone who was hoping to finally see a game starring Zelda, i was definitely happy with how it turned out. In addition to your summary, your video footage was also fun to watch because it showcased solutions to puzzles that i hadn't thought of when i played through. As far as my favorite 2D Zelda? That's tough to say! Oftentimes i'll say A Link to the Past, but Link's Awakening, the Oracle games, and ALBW are all very solid. With Echoes of Wisdom complete, it'll very likely take its place somewhere near the top of the list. Overall, Echoes of Wisdom helped rejuvenate my enthusiasm for video games in general.

    I really really love this game. Cyber Sleuth really wanted to be like a Persona game, but Survive felt like one. And the storytelling is shockingly good for a video game. The choices feel like they matter, and it is a really clever play on the goggle head pov to make you have to become a leader that brings everyone together and they make you earn that shit, since people are just dying left and right. I also really like the combat. It could be spaced better out, it takes too many hours until you get to a point where there is a lot of it and then it is almost too much in parts. But especially on hard it is pretty damn fun. Probably too easy, but it is also a Digimon game so it's fine. It's not easier than a Persona game.

  • @SacrificAbominat

    The problem is that CyberConnect2 has more of a reputation for making anime games than their original IP games nowadays, and since this is their first foray back into making original games after a decade of essentially being typecasted as an anime game developer thanks to Bandai I'm not too surprised it's not getting too much traction. Though I do think word of mouth is getting around and that's definitely helping. I think Fuga will probably be as successful as one of the .hack series, IMOQ or G.U., were and get around 700k units a year or two after the 3rd game comes out. Keep in mind Tail Concerto and Solatorobo barely sold more than 100K units themselves, so this would be a vast improvement for the series. When CC2 gets more of a reputation for their original IP games after releasing Cecile and Tokyo Ogre Gate I think the sales for Fuga will go up further and the series might cross the 1 million units sold mark someday. Though I definitely think CC2 needs to bring back the .hack series as that was significantly more popular back in the day and still has a lot of name recognition. Fuga hasn't been that subtle with .hack like references, so I think they're hinting that it's part of their plan to bring .hack back as well. That would definitely help Fuga and Little Tail Bronx going forward, and It'd be nice if they could be like Falcom and have these two series running in parallel to each other like Ys and Trails do for them.

    Long rant incoming. I really enjoyed my time playing this game. I pretty much spent an entire week just playing the game until I 100% it, however there were a few things nagging at the back of my mind during my playtime which after the disappointing final boss final boss began to retroactively sour my experience of the game. If not for the fact you a playing as Zelda and the very unique way of interacting with the world it would be a pretty bare bones Zelda experience. I also feel off about the fact that Zelda can not do damage herself or be a adventuring badass in her own right and requires others (echos of enemies) to fight for her. It is not like they couldn't give her a unique way of dealing with enemies in a Zelda way. She could instead of a sword and bow be more magic based and learn different spells instead of new items. It is not like we have never seen a Zelda that gets her hands dirty, Shiek and Tetra come to mind. Also for a game with wisdom in its title echoes of wisdom does not elicit the triforce it is named after in the same manner that oracle of time did as most puzzles and combat encounters can be solved with just a handful of the same couple of echoes robbing the game of fun and interesting scenarios that require out of the box thinking to solve. Lastly the final boss was a major let down. It is shocking that they made a final boss that the player can ignore and leave to an npc to defeat.

    I kinda felt like the pacing was worse in this game. I haven't played the original Cyber Sleuth in some time but I don't remember it having such a slow first chapters. Also, didn't like how the games forces you to do side cases to advance the main story. I do get it given the context of the group but still found it pretty annoying. Specially from chapter 3-7. Also didn't enjoy the domination battles too much. If you don't do enough damage you get caught in this slog of a fight doing little bits of damage every 3 minutes or so. Leaving that aside though, I'm truly in love with the story, the characters and the overall theme of this game. This game has really strong and dark moments I didn't expect. The ending, even though it really pains me to remember it, it's also really beautiful and just well executed. Digimon games used to suck when I was a kid, so I'm absolutely glad to say that I'm expecting great things for the future of this series.

    Nice to see such a recent video on this great game. I hope it's fine if I share one thing I thought about the ending of the game and a certain character. (spoilers) Personally I didn't like how everyone forgot about what happened in the "original" world. Especially Ryuji. With how important Erika was to him it felt incredibly bitter to have him not know about a person he loved so much. It makes me wonder how he would have felt with his memories. Would he have been able to accept her "death", knowing that somewhere in the digital world she is still alive and happy? It's sad that he didn't get that chance, but it's also interesting when considering Suedou's character. Most players I know disagreed with Suedou's belief that it's for the best to erase painful memories. But in a way that's what happend to the characters in the ending. They can't be sad about losing Erika without their memories of her.
