I can't say it was a hidden gem, but it certainly was a restriction of an oldfranchise. Armored Core 6 rekindled my love of gaming in a way that I can't articulate well.
I played through LunarLux too and can confirm what's been said in the video, LunarLux is a really great game! With regards to its difficulty, I would add that imo exploration and difficulty go hand in hand in this game. In other words: Exploration defines the difficulty. If it's too hard, you likely missed out on a bunch of stuff. If it's too easy, maybe leave some items on the floor. This meant that even I, someone who only knew turn-based combat from Pokémon, quickly found my sweet spot with the difficulty. Also, shout out to VanilluxePavilion who made a lot of the songs for this game ❤
This seems like such a good love letter to the Megaman Battle Network series, i like the split of the player turn from the enemy turn, it seems much more manageable and less stressful.
Huh, I guess I have a ting to play. Cheers! Also this video is kinda banger, especially for this small of a channel. Keep it up, small-time is hard and you are *killing* it.
in retrospect i didn't really play anything that released last year, which is surprising. i've tempered myself against the hype that surrounds a lot of big games and i've been rewarded for that by dodging games like starfield that seemed cool but ultimately wouldn't have been enjoyable for me. i did play a bit of TEVI though, which is a pretty niche and underrated one that dropped at the end of last year. this channel is definitely underrated and covers a lot of interesting games. my only criticism is that the fast pace (which is a plus) makes it hard for me to follow point by point. i know it's a bit played out, but if things were structured a bit more rigidly (i.e. story/gameplay/art style sections) it'd be easier for me to keep up when i have it playing in the background.
The pace of your delivery is honestly perfect for this type of video. You're doing a good job so keep it up. Sorry for being unclear, I just re-watched to try and clarify what I mean more specifically. In this video specifically, I'd offer this critique: 1. The intro tells me the games name, its Kickstarter origins, and that it's a hidden gem, but doesn't really give me any idea of what's to come. I'd save writing the intro for last, after you know what the rest of the vid has in it. 2. The battle mechanics section is difficult to follow. The types of abilities, meter, etc. are skated over quickly and aren't evaluated directly and immediately. I'd have to remember amongst other things that you mention a meter, assume what sort of relevance it has, then follow your other comments on the systems before finally closing out that portion of the video with your actual critique of the meter system, which is that it can be too easy to instantly fill in late game. A large portion of this segment is essentially a list with nothing drawing out its actual significance. Even a sentence before the list of mechanics telling me something about it would help. Are the mechanics offering depth to combat? Variety? Complexity? 3. Similarly, a lot of time is spent on the story synopsis near the start without any sort of evaluation. Even just a quick sentence telling me what you think is good about the story and writing helps me pick it out for myself as you go through the summary. It feels like it's missing a topic sentence, basically. 4. You do accomplish what I'm talking about in your exploration segment. You say that there's exploration, and you say that it's rewarding. Then you talk about what sort of exploration there is and how it is actually made to be rewarding. This section was by far the most digestible and is a great example of where your passion forces your opinion out right away. I think people watch your videos because of your unique tastes that lead you to review unique games, and that your audience will value your perspective. Don't be afraid to lead with your opinions and interpretations of things; they actually make your videos more enjoyable and easier to follow as reviews.
Thank you so much for going in depth with this! I'm always trying to improve, but because I don't have a large audience, I rarely get any kind of criticism, so this comment is very enlighting and helpful for me!
This game is so surprisingly good I regret not picking it up earlier. On a side note did you try Deathbulge Battle of the Bands? Probably my favorite rpg of last year
I don't have a favorite hidden gem. But I'll try this one out and see if it comes out on the Switch. If not, then I guess I can use my gaming PC, even though I don't use it for gaming.
In regard to difficulty I'll add that apparently since patch 1.3 there is an Hard and Legend mode, since like having challenge I started the game on Legend.... and boy is it brutal, right of the gate the very first ennemy on ZX actually felt like a Boss, having about 1400HP and it's attack one shotting your character, pretty have to No Damage this one by dodging and managing your Shield well, the 3 Boars a little after were the same pretty much have to perfect the fight, and they are long fights, as a compensation since they're the ZX version of ennemy they give more EXP like after the 3 Boars you should be a LV2 on Normal thanks to the ennemies being ZX I was LV11, definitly not for everyone but if one want a challenging experience with the game, this looks like it,
Great video! LunarLux was one of the most fun games I played on the end of last year for sure, and i'm glad some youtubers like you are sharing it! Btw @Berdomlikesgames is there any way to get in contact with you? Like a bussines email or a discord, I would like to talk about something privately if that's ok
Question of the Video: what was YOUR favorite Hidden gem from 2023?
I can't say it was a hidden gem, but it certainly was a restriction of an oldfranchise. Armored Core 6 rekindled my love of gaming in a way that I can't articulate well.

Looks cool I'll give it a shot.
So its basically megaman battle network but turnedbased, interesting
Oh man, if any game is being name dropped alongside Cross Code, I've gotta check it out!
Looks nice

Thank you! And I appreciate the criticism, I never realized my pacing was too fast. I'll keep that in mind for future videos.

I’ll definitely keep an eye on the Switch release. This year is already pretty packed for me but I can maybe try and squeeze one more RPG in there.
This game is so surprisingly good I regret not picking it up earlier.

I haven't, but I'll probably look into giving it a try.

Lunar Lux is actually going to get a switch version at some point in the future thanks to how well its kickstarter did!
