take a short and sweet V-twin ride through a small section of the A38 in North Somerset. no commentary apart from the sound of the Harley Davidson sportster 883, and the warm wind blowing past my lid.

What a day to take the sportster out, glorious weather, and a trip to talk about some new tattoos that I want which will cover up some old awful tattoos that I had when I was very young. And a great opportunity to get the sportster 883 warmed up on some nice dry roads .

I've got to get there one day 👍
No need for the constance use of the "F" word. I cancelled my sub.
Thanks for coming, I already closed the channel 8 weeks ago 🤣🤣
This has been a fun series to watch! Too bad it's the last we'll hear from you - for now. I bet you'll be back, just not touring :D
Tre bien 😅😅
I have crossed the country on a Honda Rebel 250. And I'm 6' 240.
White wheels
In my opinion I believe that this review is a logical and well un bias opinion
A friend of mine had one back in the day. Let me ride it for half an hour up in the Ozark mountains. It was perfectly tuned, engine and suspension, and I will never forget how it would wheelie out of EVERY SINGLE CORNER!
It's not all Jap bikes, my GPZ500 was like a russian tractor. It's hondas. They have that reputation for a damn good reason
Unfortunately it also ticks the gas-guzzler box. In a big way, too.
If its range is 70 miles as you said or even 100miles, that's reason enough to forget about it. But you chose to not spend more than 2sec on the topic.
Went to the Bastogne war museum last year and just walked in, didn't pay a penny 🤔
Great videos of a great trip. Thanks! Greetings from Baarn (NL)
I've always wondered why people think you can't ride a sportster long distances. You can do it on a 250cc just have to stay off the 80mph hwys.
Can you please give details of your route
Hi John, hope this helps. Calais to riems, Riems to mulhouse, Mulhouse through Switzerland to bormio, Bormio over stelvio and through Austria to freidricshafen (stopping at the neunwanstein castle) (very long day, too long) Freidrichshafen to saarbrucken, Saarbrucken to ghent, Ghent home. We took 8 days but should have taken at least 12 because the last few days became very hard especially in the heat. Hope that helps 👍
@@wsmv thank you for responding 😊👍
I have a blue 2003 VTR 1000 SuperHawk (US version), and I'm the original owner. Only 36,000 miles so far, but no issues at all with it (3K mile GN4 oil changes, brake, clutch, and coolant flushes every couple years, and fresh chain lube regularly). Just tires, a set of brake pads, and a one chain/sprockets worn out. It still rides like new and pulls equally hard and smooth from 4,000 to 9,500 RPM. My only advice is to spend the money and get a Corbin seat for it. It immensely improves the seat comfort and does not negatively affect the tank-hugging sporty riding position! The only real down sides are the 100 mile range before the fuel light comes on, and the carburetor at altitude. I live in Colorado, so the flat(ish) "plains" for us are at 5,000ft elevation, and mountain rides vary from 5,000 to 12,000 feet elevation. It's just not possible to tune a carb to have the right air/fuel ratio over that wide of an elevation range, so above 9,000ft, I can't give it more than 70% throttle without bogging down due to running far too rich. Fortunately, I don't have to because it's just as fun at half throttle with the wide power band. It really is just easy and relaxing to ride and feels like it goes way too fast way too effortlessly with no drama and a smile-inducing sound that I've never tired of hearing. I do an annual 500 mile "spirited ride" in the mountains in late summer (on a weekday when school is back on to avoid as much traffic as possible), with about 80% of that being amazing twisty scenic mountain roads. It's one of the best days of my year, almost every year. I don't mind the welcome breaks at the 6 fuel stops along the way! Great place to live for spring-fall motorcycling :) Here's what that all-day ride looks like: www.google.com/maps/dir/Standley+Lake+Library+-+Jefferson+County+Public+Library,+8485+Kipling+St,+Arvada,+CO+80005/Nederland/40.166808,-105.4606419/40.3814764,-105.5148919/40.4182792,-105.1900624/Stove+Prairie+Landing/Toponas/38.8116222,-106.117109/Bailey/39.8524303,-105.1092043/@39.8286043,-105.3858817,9.17z/data=!4m37!4m36!1m5!1m1!1s0x876b89250054e3ed:0x72ee64f8fac21f62!2m2!1d-105.1111944!2d39.8504537!1m5!1m1!1s0x876bc6c44e45525b:0x8d645c98aaec4cb2!2m2!1d-105.5108312!2d39.9613759!1m0!1m0!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x87693d9e760b05ff:0x79083c86fcc894d0!2m2!1d-105.3891557!2d40.6824814!1m5!1m1!1s0x87421de66f1ba8ab:0xa0a1d00285f051ec!2m2!1d-106.8080984!2d40.0602639!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x876b12406ebe3e01:0xad0f96177e864c2b!2m2!1d-105.4786412!2d39.4060536!1m0!3e0?entry=ttu I hope you enjoy your Firestorm as much as I enjoy mine!!!
Love my vtr .. there’s a reason why I sold my zx6r and r1 and still got the vtr
No! No, no, no, no. Not listening 🙉 Great video, wonderful series. Can’t wait to see what’s next 😎👍🏼
Epic tour you 2 & hate things coming to an end...But wasn't expecting that bombshell...The starter motor on your 1200 ,starting to sound a bit weak! 😮🤣 OK really though,I hope yous are just gonna become a duo motovlog channel & it's not really the end of WSMV!!! 😉❤️👍
Amazing series so far, just about to watch part 5! I am currently planning the same trip with 5 mates for the UK and would like to know a few things if that’s ok? How much were the tolls? How much did you spend on fuel? We are planning a 12 day trip, the same route you are taking there and back. Any other advice you could give us would be appreciated. I will be riding a Kawasaki Z650 ;)
Hi buddy, the tolls weren't as expensive as some people make out depending on which entry into Italy you take, some are private tunnels which I think cost about €24 but apart for that only about €30 total to fly through France. Fuel was about the same as here apart from Austria which is quite expensive. I think altogether I spent about £300 on fuel. Doing it in 12 days is ideal, we did it in 8 but it got really uncomfortable towards the end and we didn't have much time to take detours because we needed to get to the next hotel. I wish we had taken a few more days and enjoyed the time more between stays. It's the best thing we've done and got a real sense of achievement from it, not sure when you're going bit if it's next year and you want to do the stelvio pass wait until July because after heavy snow fall this year it was closed due to snow the day vefore we rode it at the end of June. You love the trip, get a monzo card so you don't have to pay any conversion fees, and it makes it easier as all toll stations are tap and go with cards 👍👍
@@wsmv Hey bud, that brilliant info! I have budgeted about £300 for fuel, £250 for euro tunnel (a flexible ticket in the event something goes pair shaped), hotels £600 and £300 for miscellaneous spending about £1500 all in. We are looking around the middle to end of August as we know the Stelvio Pass can be hit or miss depending on the weather. My son has been badgering me to get a Monzo card so it looks like I am going to bite the bullet and grab one. The unexpected train journey looked like fun too! Loving every minute of yours and Karens adventure, we will be sharing ours on here. Thanks for the amazing tips and advice. 👌
@noslacking3856 no problem mate, hope you have the best time, we booked all our accommodation well in advance on booking.com which meant me knew we had so.ewhere to stay, but also meant we couldn't make any last minute detours so it's swings and roundabouts what you're most comfortable with. Set aside some money for souvenirs too, I've got hats and wall plaques from stelvio plus a cuckoo clock from Germany (next video in series) 🤣🤣
We went on a train like that a couple of years ago. We were hoping to go over the Furka pass, but it was closed, so we had to get on a train and go under the mountains instead.
Nice bike, I'd either kill myself or loose my license 😂
Absolutely gutted, you're closing the channel 😢 It's been emotional 🙂 Keep in touch bud, we still need to meet up and go for a ride. Best of luck with the future 👍
Ouch! End of the channel…😢😢😢 So sorry to hear that, but I certainly understand. When I ride with my wife, there’s no recording whatsoever. I’ll miss your videos, and hearing your ramblings!! Be well Phil, and Karen!!
So awesome that you two had such a great time!! What a memorable trip!!
It really is!
Excellent vid as usual. Appreciate your direct style and support and understand your decision. Make choices that suit you both. Best wishes 👍❤️ Ride far and safe.
A thoroughly enjoyable series, Weston. I'm very sorry to see you go but, who knows, you can't keep an old dog down. Look after yourself and I'm sure we'll meet up soon.
Thanks for taking us with you, sorry to see you and the multi go, has been great to see one same age as mine still touring, well past the second Desmo now, but I love it, yes side stand troubles too, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed. Best of luck with whatever is next for you….putting a cuckoo clock on the wall??😅
Noooo! 😭😭😭 We started around the same time and you've been a great inspiration and support so very sad to see you stop (again). But you have to do you and what you think is best for you both. I hope to still see you around from time to time...
Really enjoyed following your channel and can't believe you are finishing up, I hope you change your mind, but if you have to go you have to go, I wish you all the very best in the future, take care & ride safe
I have really enjoyed my time as a subscriber, your introducing me to the Socialbags ride and tours like this one, so all the very best to you both, I shall miss my RUclipsr at the bottom of the hill and I hope to see you on the road sometime.
Mic drop! 😊 I think you should post when you want to post. I still wanted to see the clock, dude! Anyways, hope you see at so.e point to re enter this hobby and post. Unless you are deleting the channel completely. Always enjoy, we only live once!
And what a way to bring the curtain down. Excellent vlog. Anyone who vlogs understands how it can get in the way of just enjoying the ride and the time. Who knows, we might see the odd video from time to time and I'm sure you'll do the odd cameo 😁. "In Italian means, fuck it sell it." 🤣🤣🤣 made I larf. Wishing you both the very best, well done indeed. See you on the flip side!
Epic trip very interesting places you have been to too . buddy . Rolley :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for all your content. Enjoy what ever you do in the future and ride safe. Thanks again and good luck.
Thanks for the journey Phil. Ride safe mate and take care.
Love the cuckoo ending, I wondered if it would make an appearance😁😁. Shame about the channel, but you've got ya reasons and that's all that matters. I do though, have a sneaky feeling you'll be back posting sometime in the future. Whatever you two do in the future, stay safe and enjoy life, we only get to do it the once.
Morning Phil love the the videos but understand how they can takeover trips, ride safe and I might catch you on the road one day, cheers Graham ps Ireland was brilliant❤
followed you for a few years now Phil and glad to have met you both on and off RUclips. I've gone down the route of making videos for me and my family only these days and removed all trace of Howie702 on this platform. Enjoyed your vids and sense of humor, you both take care and enjoy your biking .... much love ... Howard ❤😎😎😎😎
All good things come to an end. I'm so sorry you're not continuing with the channel. You've recorded some brilliant memories. Please keep the channel, even if you don't post new vids. You never know what the future holds. Glad the Ducati looked after you both. Best wishes for the future. Carol & Richard
Tenho uma 1200 com sissy bar para a esposa e ela acha confortável as viagens e passeios.
Mi esposa se siente muy segura con el respaldo instalado y le encanta estar en la parte trasera de la Harley. gracias por mirar
These are flying in at my end & that's me caught up! 😎👍 Secretly hoping yous go the long way round going home & deliver another dozen or so parts for this trip! 😬✌️
Ah sadly not mate, my rear end couldn't take it 🥵 One more and that it 👍
@wsmv Here's hoping Karen doesn't read that then...You referring to her as your rear end! 😮😂✌️
🤣
I do find riding the bike great fun but also very tiring
It certainly can be, especially in the extreme heat and when you have to focus hard in rain or in the dark. But we still love it 😁
The french really do a fantastic job looking after the war graves... lovely video you2
Thanks buddy, yes they do an incredible job along with the Belgians ❤️
Awesome Memorial.
It was an emotional visit and well worth it 👍
What an incredible trip!!
It was a real challenge but loved every minute 👍
4:09 super cool bridge!!
👌 I do like a well designed bridge 😁
Hi, I have a 2002 model in blue and I like it, quick question what model of bag do you have on it? Are there supports also? I'm looking for some for a road trip. Nice video
Hi Thomas, they were just a cheap set from ebay and not branded, I think they were about £30. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. Hope you enjoy the road trip, its a great bike for it 😎👍
Cuckoo Clock Shop said 53 times in this vid...Impressive! 🤣😂👍 I did think to myself, they'll possibly manage a Cuckoo Clock fridge magnet, but no room I bet to carry an actual clock...So I'm proven wrong again buddy!!! 🤪✌️
🤣 it was only a small cuckoo clock, but it made it home safely, just have to put the bloody thing up now 🤦♂️
@wsmv Ticking clocks & cuckoo's are banned from here mate!!! 😮🤣✌️
@johndiehardmclean23 🤣🤣
Painted my toe nails whilst watching 🙂
🤣🤣🤣
