Joe and I went back to a small creek to explore some faint signals that we heard in a small quartz stringer that was running across the stream.

Finding gold with the next generation of prospectors
Просмотров 2358 месяцев назад
My daughter and grandson cleaned up a patch with the GPX 6000 and found quite a few pieces of gold. It was Archer’s first real attempt at prospecting and he had a ball detecting, finding signals and then recovering the gold. Both his mother and I were so proud of his efforts. This clip shows him using the pick and scoop to find a couple of those small pieces.
Panning out flood gold from a patch that had been detected
Просмотров 5458 месяцев назад
My eldest daughter and grandson came with me to a remote gully to detect small pieces of gold that had deposited after recent floods. After carefully detecting the area and removing as much gold as the detector could hear, we decided to pan some of the gravel to see if there was any finer gold remaining. This clip is the result of the first pan.

After working an area quite well with a couple of 6000’s, we decided to come back and cover the same country with the 7000’s to see if we could find some deeper targets that the smaller machine could not see. We ended up finding a couple of small patches that were a bit deeper and required a bit of work to remove some rocks etc. to recover the gold. This short clip shows one of the pieces that ...

We wanted to keep everything as natural as we could which means that some of the digs are a bit long and our errors and mess ups are all left in the video. Be patient and join us on the journey. Detecting for gold nuggets with the Minelab 6000 and the Goldhawk 10x5

Trying to get around the bush at the moment is quite difficult. Vines, shrubs, saplings and leaf litter make it difficult to get a coil on the ground. In this clip, I’m using the Coiltek Goldhawk 10x5 to cover some old ground in an attempt to pick up small pieces of gold that other detectors have left behind.

Great video, Les Gold. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work. The way you detailed the gold extraction process was really engaging! Have you considered exploring deeper layers of the quartz to see if there might be larger deposits hidden below?
Thanks Redbeard. The rock was just getting too hard to progress any further. It would take specialised equipment to do that and Joe and I are just prospectors and not miners. We were also on private property and we were not going to make a mess and destroy a really pretty environment.
Nice video ❤

Hey mate great video! You’ve got me sold on a Goldhawk. I just need to decide between the 9” and the 10x5. Just wondering if you could share your opinion between the two? Thanks
@@blakewalker1039 Thanks mate. I use the 10x5 as it is really sensitive at the nose end of the coil. It’s good to get into tight areas like rock bars etc and that’s where I believe it has the advantage. I’ve heard good results on the9” round. You would be happy with either.

Hi Les, good to see your daughter and grandson are into gold prospecting.
Hi Peter. How’s the prospecting going? Yes it is good to have the family out Looking around the bush. The only problem is that the gold is pretty scattered and has been in hiding lately. Have you been out for a scratch around?

@@snazzyd8866 And that’s another project as well. It’s all good fun for a bit of BBQ fuel.
This seems to be the best method I have seen so far, I have some 3D printers and I printed some plastic foundation, however, it is not quick and is more expensive than buying it, although it worked just fine. I have seen some 3D printed embossing roller machines for embossing paper online, I think this could easily be converted for wax foundation usage, I will look into this. I enjoy making things for my own use and any saving of money is always welcome.
@@AndrewAHayes Thanks for the feedback. Embossing rollers for wax foundation are now readily available online but they are quite expensive.

The handy jumper sleeve all purpose squeegees, thanks. This gives me hope to afford to start in bees and get em growing in numbers ( with 2 mates with a few hives).
How much this embossing machine cost you
They are quite expensive (about $1200) but I bought mine really cheap many years ago
Thank you for sharing.
👍
So do you rewax it abit ? Or let them figure it out
There is normally enough wax on the foundation and the bees will rebuild the comb. Timing is critical. If the bees are expanding in the spring and building comb it works well. If you put the frame back in any other time, they will clean it up and not build any comb.
Nice mate at lest your machine works it will find gold have fun

Nice and simple!! Cheers
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the clip
Great video. How much current are you letting through the wires, what is the voltage on the output? I suppose 12 V.
It’s just a 12v battery charger. 2 to 4 amps is coming through the wires. Pleased that you enjoyed the clip.
Sir where to buy wax on which site
I use my own wax
I love this!

Very nice! Comparing the same exact jar of honey with and without the wood lid do you get enough extra at the cash register to actually pay for your time, materials and equipment? A hexagonal lid would be good for those with arthritis. It’s a great looking item I just look at things from a cost versus reward standpoint.
Thanks Ross. These honey jars are taken to the markets. I make a fancy swing tag label that contains all the required information and charge a premium for the product. People are quite prepared to pay for a nice jar that is well presented. My materials costs and labour are covered in that cost. As the lids are larger than the standard metal lid, they are very easy to remove which would be a real advantage for those with arthritis.
I'm finding smaller gold than that with the standard coil
And you will too. The standard coil is great and will find tiny specs. The advantage of the 10x5 is that it will find small pieces at a depth that does not register when using the 11” coil. A lot of testing using live, undug targets over a period of time showed us the potential of the coil. It is actually surprising how much gold the standard coil will miss. To its credit, the 11” coil does have a depth advantage when the gold gets a little larger. Non of what I just said should be of any real surprise, it’s just the way it works when coil size and shape are altered. Good luck with your detecting. Hope you find a stack of monsters on your next trip out.

I can tell Archer ‘does’ honestly have the patience and interest to become a gold detectorist prospector, because many other kids would not. ~Also the slightly deeper Coiltek Goldhawk 9” round is getting close to the same sensitivity as the Goldhawk 10x5” which is better for tight areas between objects.
He was very patient and really did enjoy the day out. We are very proud of his enthusiasm and the way he was able to focus and search for those elusive pieces of gold. I have heard some good reports on the 9” round Goldhawk. Being a round coil with a slightly bigger footprint, I would expect good depth from it. I reckon it would work well in this type of situation.
