This channel is for videos I think may be interesting to fans of Film Noir.
There are playlists for all sets of videos, usually in aired order but noted in the description in any case.
If there is any objection by TCM, RUclips, Eddie or any of the copyright holders, I will immediately close down the channel. The point of this channel is to increase Film Noir appreciation. It's not and never will be about profit, especially not profit from other people's work.
Thanks and enjoy!

👁🗨
Anyone know when will Hardly a Criminal 949 be released on dvd or Bluray?
Dane Clark just doesn't do it for me as a leading man.
It's a good movie, but as a leading man, Dane Clark just doesn't do it for me.
I didn’t recognize Mary Astor at 1st, but I did recognize her voice. I am so thankful that I realized it was her. I read several of her books and the book about the battle for custody of her daughter. 🥰🥰
She was a remarkable person. And so talented!
Not the best movie, but RJ Wagner was so worth looking at! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for posting these. Truly a remarkable gift to all us Noir fans
It's my pleasure! But of course it's TCM & Eddie et al who really deserve the credit.
Carlo Ponti? Fellini? And the other greats. "Without pity" reminds me of of my wife somehow.
I have tears in my eyes from that Barbara Hale story 🥺
Eddie’s lusty appreciation for Susan Hayward is adorable, and he’s so right. She is achingly sexy in this role. The dress, the tousled hair, the gleaming lips, not to mention the wit and softness of her character… she makes all the nonsense worthwhile!
Very well said, thanks.
Eddie sure is obsessed with the effort to rid Hollywood of a Communist influence; I guess we'll have to go elsewhere to get other perspectives on that story.
Solid movie, with a compelling undercurrent of weirdness, thanks to the characters of Zimmer and Roy. Mary Costa was very good; too bad she didn't make more movies, but it sounds like a singing career was her destiny.
“Ok, Marlowe, I said to myself, you’re a tough guy. You’ve been sapped twice, choked, beaten silly with a gun, shot in the arm til you’re as crazy as a couple of waltzing mice. Now let’s see you do something really tough - like puttin’ your pants on.“ Busts me up every time. 😆 Thanks, Noir Fan!
You bet! The dialogue is just wonderful, totally agree.
Just Tell Me When to Cry. I haven’t read it, but what a magnificent title! God do I love Eddie. I love you too, Noir Fan! These uploads are much appreciated.
Hah-hah! Well, it's nice to be loved. 😇 Always a pleasure.
For me, a "classic" is a movie in which every aspect perfectly fits together to form a seamless and effective whole.
Great actress!! 🎉
It must be mentioned: Robert Keith, father of actor Brian Keith.
I love Eddie and his deep insights into Hollywood and Noir. I just saw most of "The Unfaithful" a few days ago (on MoviesTVNetwork, a free, OTA channel that's sort of TCM light). This movie is a bit different than many movies of the period, and it's compelling enough that I want to see it in its entirety. The scene where Zachary Scott confronts Ann Sheridan abt her infidelity is done with a realism that really impressed me! And I agree with Eddie abt Eve Arden: she steals every scene she's in, with her slightly wise-ass vibe. 😉
The bookstore lady from The Big Sleep is in it? Yeah, I'll watch this
Great movie that I recently discovered on the Movies TV Network. The contrast between the beautiful ice-skating routines and the darker parts of the movie added power to those darker parts.
More people need to see this movie, its absolutely amazing and you can tell it influenced many directors.
Love learning a movie's backstory. Eddie's the BEST ! And what a cool guest Mr. Dickerson was ! As always, a bunch of thanks for uploading these intros & outres for us to enjoy & savor !
Wonderful to see Eddie have a guest! Loved it when fellow TCM host Alicia Malone was his guest a few weeks ago. I've seen "Woman on the Run" before, but Eddie's comments always add some marvelous "icing on the cake"! THANKS for uploading them!
You bet!
Great movie - so glad I found this intro and outro.
Me too!
How about this for a plot angle?: husband finally meets up with the reporter under the roller coaster. Reporter pulls a gun on the husband-on-run. Did the husband maybe for a split second think his wife had set him up and sent him to his demise? Prior to their mini-reconciliation, they were living separate lives and she was suddenly chummy with a handsome reporter. Food for thought.
Very interesting point! Thanks for sharing!
A time loop movie that takes place over a full year, instead of just a single day, is really interesting. Someone should do something with this gimmick again.
Wine? Polynesian Pearl Diver.
the rollercoaster scene is very well done even with the back projection. Sheridan's acting on the rollercoaster is really quite good only thing i didn't like was the too much witty repartee from the cops. Sounds to me the writers were trying too hard here.
Try putting this on a double bill with The Big Lebowski for a contextual contrast of a similar subject!
I hope Eddie owns a piece of that saloon or else they'll start charging him rent.
Ha! As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point!
Excellent little movie! Ann Sheridan finds her (slightly) rough side. She started as ingenue roles but aged well, and appropriately. I really liked her in "Nora Prentiss" 1947 w Kent Smith as the kind, doomed physican. Ann requests and is given, in the doctor's office, a cigarette & a shot of whiskey! Just to steady her nerves, mind you. Healthcare has certainly changed. Sheridan was a popular pin-up, wes voted the Oomph Girl, & received up to 250 marriage proposals a week. Guys weren't afraid to commit then, I guess. She had quite the distinguished career, both on & off the big screen. Look her up in wiki sometime - I won't do your homework for you. Stay Noir!😅
I think you just did a lot of the homework already! Thanks for this. I didn't know about the 250 marriage proposals a week. Wonder what would happen if she actually followed up on one, or at least did a little research on a random selection? What kind of guys are we looking at here? On second thought, probably a dreary enterprise.
@NoirFan77 Re: Epistolary marriage proposals to Ann Sheridan - hopefully they were not from 16 year old boys or prisoners! Some actors saw their fan mail: most did not. More a job for the studio publicity dept.
Interesting! Thanks for posting 😊
Always a pleasure
Would love to see this movie in a theater on a double bill with They Drive By Night. with George Raft and Humphrey Bogart.
Wow, this one has an interesting backstory to it
Fabulous partnership for NOIR FAN not. And another great movie for me to access - sometimes these spectacular historical pieces are not available to purchase so I sit in front of RUclips and watch them. Thanks go to Eddie Muller, as always.
I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion !
Great outro and also Great noir film that was aired on noir alley and i was glad that ernest Dickerson was the guest on noir alley. he is an underated noir director who made a great and definitive neo noir film juice (1992) with tupac which a noir film with black teenagers and it's simliar to joker (2019) where tupac's character bishop and arthur fleck are the same character and has the same motivations in the both neo noir's and two films that were filmed in the same location in the bronx but great definitive neo noir if you haven't watched it and also 1950 was primitive and definitive year for noir which they forgot to mention like the asphalt jungle and sunset boulevard which are night and the city (1950), no way out (1950) and gun crazy, the breaking point (1950) and so on. but a great year for noir films that came out in 1950 and also the start of one of the last decade for the traditional noir genre before ending with odds against tomorrow and the evolvement of the tradtional noir genre into the neo noir genre.
Great intro and great noir film as well that was shown and also ernest dickerson is a huge follower and fan of the tradtional noir genre he made a neo noir called juice with tupac which is a neo noir with black teenagers and it is the inspiration and similar to joker (2019) with the same character and the motivations and the locations that those two movies were filmed. so yeah juice is a great and denfinitive neo noir, and if you have not seen it for the first time or long time then watch it.. i reconmanded it, great neo noir.
the kind of comment i really dig
Awesome!! I love Ernest & Eddie
Fascinating intro as always 👍🏻👍🏻
I think it's the carburetor float!
Laird Cregar was very good as a self-loathing police detective in "I Wake Up Screaming."
Absolutely. He was good in everything.
_Rain_ and _Grand Hotel_ will always be my favorite Crawford films.
My Mom lpoked like Rhonda's twin 🌹🌹🌹❤️🌹🌹
Noir Alley host's intoductions, & their continuous boring background information but no actual full films to view, which creates boredom & immediate switch off by the viewer. Words of criticism by Peter E. Farrar.
I'm emotionally attached to this film! As much as I'd like to say Dick Powell, the real reason is Richard Erdman. He steals every scene he's in.❤❤❤
Well, I love Powell (didn't use to, but 'Murder, My Sweet (1944)' got me). But I agree about Erdman. He's terrific.
@NoirFan77 ❤️👍👍
Noir Alley is a boring programme. All you get is the title of the picture, & thereafter the boring host talk, talk, talk, about background boring information but no cinema full picture in sight, but immediate switch off by the viewer & sleep. That's not inhouse entertainment but boredom. Dissatisfied long standing RUclips viewer. Words of criticism by Peter E. Farrar.
Question for Peter E. Farrar: why do you watch it if you dislike it? Is there a gun to your head? Should we call in the cops? Blink your eyes twice if you're being held against your will.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was getting a bit tired of the repeated humiliations suffered by Chris. But once it got going, it really got going. Wow! What an ending!
Question : In the nightclub scene Alexis Smith does a sultry number. Before that, though, a female trio (along the lines of the Andrews Sisters) does a peppy number. Who is that trio? No info on them on IMDB. Thanks!
No idea, sorry. Great question though. If it helps any sleuths, the song is 'The Girl with the Spanish Drawl'.
