- Noir Alley - Act of Violence (1948) intro 20241208 by Eddie Muller shown on Dec 8, 2024
From TCM's Noir Alley (Saturdays at Midnight ET and Sunday 10am ET) hosted by the Czar of Noir, Eddie Muller.
Always appreciate your posting Eddie's opening & closing Noir Alley comments! They never fail to entertain and inform. I've learned so much from Eddie over the years. Though I am surprised Eddie didn't mention "HIgh Noon" when listing director Fred Zimmerman's classic 50's films.
Excellent intro!
I really liked this one when I watched it earlier this year. Amazing performances from all the leads and a satisfying ending.
I heartily concur!
AoV was & is quite different. Kudos for that. And love the LA views! Yes, this film is outstanding ❤: not every Noir must be among career criminals, rough milieus, wounded women, and the typical. So give this one a try if you haven't seen it. Shout-out to Mary Astor, playing against her usual glamorous roles.
Thanks for a refreshingly perceptive & thoughtful comment.
Mary Astor always wonderful.
A real gem. Ryan at his best, but don't forget Janet Leigh, Van Heflin and Mary Astor. It's also got one of the best 'night journeys' in all of film noir. It's got a really tough theme about a basically good person haunted by doing something that resulted in multiple deaths.
Well said and well put! Thanks for sharing!
