I'm glad i follow this show and this channel to watch all the intros and outro as well learn from all the noir films from this channel even before i knew this channel and Program i watch a film that got me into the genre of traditional noir and neo noir before i knew about noir alley and eddie muller knowledge about the genre and the films of the genre..

I enjoyed this picture minus the long skating/singing sequences and what I felt was manipulative storytelling near the end. The second act contained too many scenes that teased something specific but resolved ambiguously. I wouldn't have minded the film straining credulity so much if teased less while it was doing so. Narratively speaking, there aren't any payoffs. Just false promises and assaults to the intelligence. If I sound like I'm being too hard on the picture, it's because despite being condescened to this way, I liked the rest of it, particularly the cast.
I had never heard of Belita until this film. I'm quite taken with her now as a noir actress. I'll have to watch The Gangster and The Hunted, now, for a Belita triple-bill. Good picture all around with a competent performance by Sullivan. It was also nice seeing Bonita Granville in a small (but rather thankless) role, as well.
I do remember sweating when Belita jumped through that ring of knives. Dangerous stuff here on Noir Alley!
