The M6 teaches patience and preparation for the right shot… its maybe not for super spontaneous modern street photography. If you are the type of human who loves to wait for the magical moment the M6 will help you. It helps because the camera offers you limited possibilities and forces you to make a decision… it was on a walk today when it made ahhh now I understand. Mechanical it’s a perfect german design. Only two LEDs are electrical. The rest including the Parallax~Correction is mechanical. A timeless masterpiece in engineering. Using one has nothing to do with reason. Any digital camera is lightyears ahead. Its going back in time, very calming…

You’re obviously completely new to photography but you have a $6k point and shoot camera? Must be nice. BTW, the sensor in your Leica is made by Sony. It’s the same sensor as you Sony.

I started photography in April of '24 and bought the base model in Canon's lineup the EOS 4000D. I'm still learning so a $6,000 camera is something I don't need right now. Besides I started shooting film in November and I like it more. I like the challenge and less tech, it's more fun to me, and personally a better learning experience.

I own the Fuji. 100f and x100v both bought at launch. As much as I love these cameras the AF cannot compete. Save your money and buy still new Sony A7c for 1600 usd, weight without lens 509g, Fuji. 100vi 521g, battery life 740 shots on Sony, 450 on Fuji, it at camera decision Sony 64, Fuji x100vi 57. If you shoot street and sometimes from the hip no comparison be careful not to buy the sizzle instead of the steak

You can do composed single pictures with a digital camera, too. IMHO you can even learn more easily because you can control the result immediately and not after a week when you forgot what you even did. You see how everything changes the picture. Using some small cheap disposable camera will not help you learn using a real camera because you have no control and can barely see what you are shooting. That's wasted time and money. If you really want to test film buy a cheap SLR where you can control the settings. You always take single shots if it is a normal not moving object (e.g. a building). Bursts make no sense in that situation. But be ready to use bursts if something is moving. Especially sports (like the mentioned cyclist) are very difficult to get with only one shot. In these cases use bursts to get a selection of pictures. Of course you should set the camera up before and choose the right settings. But what happens in the moment of action is (mostly) not controllable. Getting a lucky shot is exactly that. Only the most experienced sport photographers who watched a sport for thousands of hours may have the intuition to get the right moment with one picture. And even they have no control over everything. I come from film starting with a simple completely manual camera and then got more modern cameras. When I started with Digital I still was in the old mindset and made too few pictures. Until now I rarely use the highest speed of bursts because the film mindset is there. And that is a problem. If there is fast movement use what ever the camera offers you. And sometimes just press the shutter, if something interesting happens. If you analyse everything and try to get the correct settings the moment might be gone. And if you have more than one chance you still can do the considerations. With modern cameras many of the settings can be left to the camera which will get a good result for most situations if you don't have the time.

Tilly Shull, would you consider doing a comparison video between this Leica and the Sony A7CR with say, the Sony FE 50mm F2.5 G or SIGMA's 45mm F2.8 DG DN | C. I think the Sony is the better camera in all but one category; value retention!

Leica Q3 43 the perfect camera? The AF is slower than the Sony and other full Frame cameras, the viewfinder is not much better, it has a fixed lens and it cost so much more than the others. I like the Leica Q3 43 design, image look and the sound it makes when capturing images but "perfect camera" it is not!

Got a Sony half thr price I guess and you know what, the shutter sound can completely be turned off ;) Leica is completely overpriced.

This camera is worth more than me. Literally it's worth more than my life insurance policy. Definitely too rich my blood, but I have no doubt it is a great camera. I've been saving this joke for a while.

If you like Q3, wait till you try Hasselblad X2D you will never go back. Nothing matches the pure color and clarity and sharpness of a X 2-D try it.

I love the Q system. Not a lot of people understand it they think it’s traditional point and shoot. It’s a lot more than that.

This camera is $7,000+!!! Go buy an upgraded iPhone or Android and that camera also works as a phone and spend $$6k on other things!! Call it a day. Leica is luxury brand 💩! Stop promoting them!

I was so tempted to take the Q3 43 to a concert but had concerns of it being called a professional zoom camera so didn't. How did you convince somebody at a concert (that maybe doesn't know anything about cameras) it was a fixed focal length camera?

Your work is so beautiful, Tilly!!❤📷 I just picked up the original Q for a bargain and I absolutely love it!! On a side note, I just wanna mention that while the Q series are single-lens cameras, they are not point-and-shoot cameras. The user may have complete control over the exposure and focus🙏🏿

No, it doesn't have IBIS...

Quick info, both Q3 and A7R are using the same sensor because Leica bought the 60MP sensor from Sony and amended it slightly to change it to a sensor that does not auto focus. So tbh M11, Q3, or any Leica rocking the 60MP sensor are just extremely over priced Sony cameras. The last good Leica sensor was M9 and M10 variants.

The fly in the ointment is the price, I have a Nikon Z7II and Z8. I can drop a 28 or a 40mm lens on either, better value and close enough in image quality. The Leica Qs are great but who's got $7k to drop on a point and shoot. I want one too but then I have to stop myself from going $7K in debt. Nice review.

colors on the x100 series cameras in my opinion are terrible.

No lie nail on the coffin here with the concert pictures! reason I've ambassodered the Q for years..... You can go to shows with it! sports events with it! no problem! the 43mm only makes it sweater for the crop with 60mp if you seats are mid! Great point here!

The widest aperture is f/1.7, not f/1.2. This camera is as phenomenal as Billy Strings.

Are you yet another youtuber that forgets to turn off the mirror effect on the front facing camera or is this ironic? God I'm so tired of mirrored images. May 2025 take them away forever

Perfect besides the price haha. And maby for a camera this expensive i would expect top class 2024 autofocus performance but its still an amazing camera. The rendering is so good.

Oh yes! I bought one of these last year and I will NEVER sell this or upgrade. I also own the X100V and I do like that too because the built-in flash is very convenient for family get-togethers.

Ilfors's HP is a classic film, with the first emulsions dating back to 1935. It would be unfair to call this film a product aimed primarily at beginners. It is true this film has "room for error" because of its latitude, but saying this is the same as calling Portra 400 a beginner color film for the same reason. We are talking about one of the best film stocks available in both cases.

Are metal reels a US film ? Never heard or seen in Europe someone using these. Here it's either Patterson, Jobbo or sometimes AP tanks and reels that are been used. What are the benefits of metal BTW?

I have been saving for almost 12 months to buy my dream camera the aforementioned Leica M6. As you can imagine I have keeping an eye on prices up until I had the money to buy one which I thought was in good condition. I can tell you that prices are rising fast and I paid almost 800€ more than I would have if I had bought one 12 months ago. The sad thing is I knew I had to buy it now before the prices rose even more which has left me without a lens, which I am planning to purchase next month in December. From the moment you handle this camera you know it’s on a different level. From a viewer in Northern Spain.

Polaroid cameras have always been too rich for my blood. The little ones they sell in Walmart cost as much as my Canon A-1. plus the film is too expensive to play hit or miss on if the picture will come out or not. My brother has one and throws out half the box of exposures because they don't come out good. But the I-2 is $200 off for black Friday on Polaroid's website though.

I learned the basics of film photography from your videos before I bought a film camera just to be prepared. But I didn't know my camera used a battery because I'm a newbie, so I overexposed a whole roll of film. Manly because the battery powering the electrics was from the Reagan administration. I probably should have looked up my camera's manual.

I got a Canon A-1 a few months ago, and i can say I will never buy another camera for a long time. I love everything about it and i use it almost every day. The best part is, it didn't break the bank.
