    Just got them yesterday. Before transitioning to barefoot shoes, I was a big boots person, so I had to get these. They feel great, they are the widest shoe I have now, too wide , at least for me. How long have you been wearing barefoot shoes? These are a comfortable wide width. I don't think these look at all like clown shoes.. They're so gorgeous. However, if you're new to barefoot shoes, I could see how your eyes are not accustomed to looking at foot-shaped shoes yet possibly. After you've been wearing barefoot shoes for awhile, you will look at everyone else's conventional shoes like they are absolutely ridiculous, I can assure you.

      As the other commenter mentioned, a local cobbler can add a lift to many shoes. It depends on your feet. My feet are 27x11 cm. For me, the Saguaro are a better fit in width for sure. If you have narrower feet, you could probably do either one. Quality between the 2 is more or less equal.

      @ammo_23 2 дня назад

      I have one foot bigger than the other! Longest foot is a little over 26.5cm, I’d say low volume (Motus flex fitted me well for volume). Shape; big toe and 2nd about the same length, then slopes from there! Thanks for replying 👍🏼

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh 2 дня назад

      @@ammo_23 OK my feet are 27x11, so very similar, just a 1/2 cm difference in length. And your feet are "plateau-shaped" and low volume (mine are medium to slightly higher volume). OK that helps. With your length/width/volume/shape combination, look at my reviews of: Freet, Bohempia (the wide width sizes), Softstar's Primal line wide, Be Lenka, Luks, Fleeters, Lonowear, Magical Shoes, Splay Freestyles... If you want to go even wider, look at Realfoot and Wyde. For beaters on Amazon, look at Whitin and Saguaro. I have reviews on all of these brands (except Wyde) here on the channel. Just look at the thumbnail of my video, and if you like the style of the shoe, consider them. If anything floats your boat and you have additional questions, feel free to ask. Please also use my affiliate links and/or discount codes if you end up getting something. Thanks in advance!

    So, ive been on the fence with these for a while.. SIze wise, they say same as normal shoes. So that's an 11.5 for me. What is your opinion on these..do they run big or true to seize

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh 5 дней назад

      I'd say they're true to size. But your best bet is to trace your feet, measure the width and length. Look at Flux's sizing chart, and pick a size that gives you somewhere between 8-15mm extra length.

  • @Issvor
    @Issvor 8 дней назад

    4:18 lol after first when you said they were knock offs of vivos, i was thinking "well i'll just support vivo directory if i need a pair of running shoes" but then you said they were $37 and now it's got me thinking 👀

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh 8 дней назад

      Yes the price is definitely a strong selling point here. You could buy 3 or 4 pairs of these for the price of 1 pair of Vivo Primus... you'd have 3 different colors maybe, and probably get an overall longer wear time out of multiple pairs of these vs. the Vivos. But yeah, there's something to be said for quality, sustainability, etc. of going with Vivo. We all have our factors we consider in decisions like that, so to each their own! :)

  • @ConciseCabbage
    @ConciseCabbage 8 дней назад

    Going off of the sizing on their website, did you go with the size 11 (euro 44) just because of the 11cm width? Seems like they’d be way too long for you. At 27 long you’d have like 2 full cm of room at the toe right?

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh 8 дней назад

      Good question. The marketing person at Atlantis just emailed me and was like "Hey do you want to review our boat shoes? Do you want to do the size 11 (EU 44) like you did in our other shoes?" So I said yes without taking another look at their sizing chart. If I had looked at the chart, I would have probably ordered a 43; but then again, going from 10.7 cm width to 11cm width might make me choose the 44, and that may be how I originally selected the 44 when I first started reviewing their shoes. The important thing is--While they may be 2cm longer than my feet, I never find myself tripping as a result of the extra length. So all is well.

      Just to add context , I wear 45 in Vivos (UK11) however I've felt that the heel section is often too tight on Vivos. The 45 in Vivos leaves me a thumbs width space in the front however after reading reviews on the real foot website, people said this model fits a little bit more snug compared to the real foot farmers shoe due to the membrane. So I'm contemplating 46s ...

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh 14 дней назад

      @@henrydavis229 If you're still wearing Vivobarefoot--which are at the narrower end of the barefoot shoe width spectrum--you should probably stick with your usual size for Realfoot. I don't even wear Vivos anymore due to the width of my foot. I typically wear 44 or 45 in most barefoot shoes. For these Realfoot Highlanders, I got a 44 and they are just great. There might be the slightest difference between these and the Farmers--I don't own any of the Farmers so I couldn't say for sure--but my guess is that for you, you should just order your normal size. Measure your feet, and check Realfoot's sizing chart. Try to leave yourself some extra length.. in the case of a winter boot like this, I'd say shoot for 1.2-1.6 cm extra length. That's my two cents. I could get away with the fg2 lows as they were quite baggy all round however still not enough toe room! What other makes do you recommend for hiking shoes? I wouldn't size down. Find the one that fits your width, and gives you maybe 7-15mm extra length. Tighten the laces. If that doesn't work, there are some narrower brands out there that might help with fitting your volume, but I don't know enough about your feet to know.

      @barefootshoejosh 13 дней назад

      @@TC1Z2L3 interesting. They're 10.7cm wide (in my size), which is fairly high on the width spectrum, but yes they didn't shape the toe box for full splay. Very few companies do, even barefoot shoe companies, due to trying to avoid the "clown shoe" look. Most companies are trying to balance foot health with also wanting people to like and buy their shoes. I think that's the reality. It also depends on the shape of your foot. For instance, my feet are mountain shaped, so even when splayed, these fit me OK because that's the shape of my foot. Whereas someone with pizza-shaped feet or with a hard slope might not get full splay.

      Hi I would say they run true to size.. but the best thing for you to do is measure the length and width of your feet. Then check Flux's size chart (when you go to the page of the shoe you're looking at, there's a link there for sizing). Find the size that corresponds to your foot measurements and leaves you a little extra space in front of your toes (usually an extra 10-15mm is perfect if possible. Pick that size. That's my recommendation; but Flux's customer service can answer you more precisely. It looks like the Malai sandals are part of Ahinsa's "Comfort" line, which means they aren't "Barefoot," strictly speaking. For one, there is no heel strap securing the sandal to your foot, which is a barefoot no-no. Also, I did notice that they have a 4mm heel-to-toe drop (they aren't zero drop, which is another barefoot no-no). They may have arch support as well (another no-no), but I can't tell for sure.

      Hi.. I don't wear Altras, so I don't know their width measurements. As far as the Bahé Revive, mine are a Men's size 10. I measured the insole, and it is 10.8cm wide at the widest point of the forefoot. The uppers are fairly flexible and have good "give" to them, so my 11cm-wide feet have no sense of tightness in these at all. You'll have to measure the Altras insoles yourself, because I don't have any. I tried looking it up on their website, but they don't have the widths listed on their sizing chart. You could contact their support and ask for the width of the insole on a men's size 10 in order to have a fair comparison. What do you think about the Nike Pegasus 41 ? My abductor digito minimi was hurting from using my worn out Pegasus 39 (2 years of use) I’m debating on trying out these Flux Adapt Runners, or even the Nike free Run 2018 ( designed to mimic bare foot running ) the Free run 2018 has a 8mm drop

      On this channel, I tend to focus on companies that specialize in barefoot shoes, vs. conventional shoe companies like Nike. I advocate zero drop, no arch support, wide toe box, and thin flexible soles. These Flux have all of that, except the thin soles.. for that reason, they might be a great choice for someone like you that normally wears conventional shoes.

      @@topg3200 Flux Runners have a 22mm sole. Their Trainers have a 10mm sole. Whitin doesn't clearly state the thickness of their soles, but my guess is probably around 7mm, plus an insole you can keep or take out. Best transitional shoe for someone moving over from conventional shoes? This Flux is good. I might opt for the Flux Adapt Trainer instead, since it's not specifically for running like this one is. It's not just you, I've seen various people online say Bohempias are wider than Softstar Primals. May vary according to size, but for me, the Softstars are wider and much more comfortable as such. I've reached a point where the Softstars are all I want to wear. Elsewhere in these comments, I've said Lems work for me. They don't now. After sustained use of the Softstars, everything else feels too narrow. I just wish I could get (a) a vegan shoe or boot that was as wide as the Softstars and (b) that it could have at least a little grip. The Softstar Sawyers are smooth and I've often come close to slipping over in the rain in them. Despite my veganism, I may have to get a pair of Softstar's Switchback boots for winter and other wet days. Before anyone suggests them, I've tried two vegan brands that might appear to meet all my criteria: Ahimsa and Realfoot. Nope. Ahimsa use a vegan 'leather' that's too hard and too obviously, and unbreathably, plastic and the wide version are not as wide as they claimed on the website, not even measuring by the outsole. I pointed this out to them and they said they'd made a mistake. Realfoot looked like the great hope, but they're not and it's odd. The main thing that makes them look so wide is that the heel is very narrow, so it's a pronounced V-shape overall. They also have measurements on the website that could be said to be misleading: the diagram shows it, but it's easy to miss: the measurement is a somewhat arbitrary diagonal, meaning that straight across, the measurement comes out smaller. So while other brands are scared that wide-looking shoes will scare off the customers, this one seems to be wearing it as a badge of honour - without doing it properly. Shame, because the sole is great, both for ground feel and grip.

      I hear you man. I will say this though. The last time I put on my Softstar Sawyers, believe it or not, I felt limited in the width... but when I put on my Bohempia Hoska, I don't feel that same restriction. I still do love my Softstars though, as they are definitely in the top wide companies. Personally, I definitely lean toward the thinnest most flexible soles, so I'm with you there. That said, there are certain times when going a little gentler/comfier has its merits. These provide an option for those occasions. Same goes for my hiking shoes. I have a 4mm sole pair of hiking shoes, and I also have an 11mm pair of boots, and a couple in-between. Different thicknesses for different hiking environments. I'm thankful to have a variety to choose the right shoe for the right activity and environment. That said, not every shoe I review is a fit for every person. I've reviewed plenty of other sandals that might fit your style better. Thanks so much for watching and stay tuned for more... :)

    I’m very flat footed, my most comfy pairs of footwear are either ASICS or Birkenstocks because they rule the game in terms of arch support. Does flux offer arch support and is it advisable for overpronators like myself?

    • @barefootshoejosh
      @barefootshoejosh Месяц назад

      Hi.. it seems like you may possibly be unfamiliar with barefoot shoes, which I am an advocate for. Barefoot shoes by definition DO NOT have arch support. Using arch supports from the time we are young causes the muscles, ligaments and tendons of our arches to atrophy and weaken to the point where we then need arch support. However, many medical professionals are realizing that through transitioning to barefoot shoes (zero drop, with no arch support, wide toe boxes that allow our toes to splay naturally, and thin flexible soles), we can re-strengthen our arches over time and rebuild healthier feet. So, with all of that said, Flux makes barefoot shoes, so no, there is no arch support. I'm not a doctor, and I'm not advising you what to do. I would just recommend that you search out what you might do on your own. Best of luck to you on your journey!

      If you are used to barefoot shoes, then yes. If you're not used to barefoot shoes, you might think they're a bit large, due to the extra width, etc. Best thing to do is measure your feet, look at their sizing chart, and buy the shoe that gives you an extra 1-1.5 extra centimeters in length inside the shoe so you have some extra space.
