Crazy that you have to buy a removed feature that's always been in Blender. The glare node doesn't even work anymore either through compositing in the newer versions. 😑

Here's my (similar) experience. In the market for a replacement/second system for nearly a year. I patiently awaited the release of the 50-series. On release day, I had a system specified on SCAN's website. When the 50-series was released at 2pm, I had the crashing and glitching -- I had to reselect the new machine's components when the new range of PCs appeared. Somehow, I managed to get the machine ordered, and payment was authorised. HOWEVER. I got an email that evening that had a used car salesman vibe -- frothy but evasive on the details. Since then, I haven't heard back from them. Not a great experience, but I just chanced upon an entry on the order page with a projected dispatch date in mid-March (6 weeks). Acceptable! It's not a great customer experience from SCAN, but they just want to secure orders and build machines. This entire mess is down to NVIDA's monopolistic demand-driving mischief.

This is so useful for those of us with old cards and want a bigger uplift. Really helpful seeing those older cards on these charts. 2070 to 5070 is amazing for those of us stuck in the past waiting for a reason to move. Best review out there.

I'm still running a 1070! Been serving me well for 8 years now, cost me a huge £370. Been putting off the system upgrade for a few years now but the time has come. Still tossing up between 4070 Ti Super, 4080 Super or do I jump on a 5080 or wait for the 5070 Ti. Whichever it ends up being it'll be a ridiculous upgrade I guess...

Having no gaming pc at all (console pleb) and wanting to get a pc. Is it worth getting the 5080 over a 4080 for example. Assuming budget isn’t the issue between the two.

I bought a 4070 Super for 500 about 3 weeks ago as I had a feeling it is, and will remain the king of value. Yup, there it is. And I bought my wife a 4070 for 420 a week ago. I knew how this generation will turn out the second I found out that the node didn't change, and that they just "refined" it. I think 5060 will only find its place in random consumer electronics stores being a part of their "brand" prebuilt PCs, and I really hope the 5080 gets pulled and rebranded as 5070 Super or something, as it's a disgrace. 5070 draws 250W over the 220W of the 4070S. Furthermore Blackwell is slightly more efficient than Ada. Now think.

So it looks like it is best to wait for a change in nodes? used, and get the big jump up that comes with that without the increased power draw. All dependant on personal uses and circumstances of course.

Disappoiting... 5070 Ti = 4070 Ti Super... I would keep the Ti Super so. And +35% between 5090 and 4090 even if Power consuption does +30%, number of transistor does +30%, bandwidth... It's very disappointing.

Great video! I was wondering if there is an easiest way to do it and this lesson saved me so much time! But I still had a problem with rotation after extrude profile along my curve on long and complicated tracks, but i added Set Curve Tilt node right after Resample Curve Node and it solved my problem completely. After i did it my road looks perfect!

I'm a 3d designer and I will surly invest in the 5090. 32GB VRAM is very welcome for ArchViz and the VRAM Speed is incredible! To load 3d sceens for rendering or real-time rendering is a huge advantage in productivity. I understand the backlash from gamers, but games is secondary for me. For professionals this is incredible. It's a shame that it doesn't have NVLink... for dual GPU rendering would be perfect. For that we will need to rely in a very good motherboard that have true 2x PCI 5.0 16x (which are very few at the moment)

3x improvement in blender seems like a reasonable reason to upgrade this year or next! Plus 32gb vram is always nice!

I'm curious to know the 5070 performance increase. Considering an upgrade from my 2070 super and if the price point of a 5070 is worth.

According to the Blender benchmark test, the 5090 scores an average of 14,800, while the 4090 scores 11,000. The data alignments, showing a 30-35% increase, which is in line with the improvements in, vram, RT , CUDA etc..

i think it is all very misleading just to get people to buy new things. earth to major tom. this thing consums a huge about of electricty for a very little bump in raw performance. a true upgrade would be no more use in power. steve jobs understood this to his credit and i hate apple. this is all just marketing bs. thanks i think ill just buy two 4090s when the 5090 come out. save on my power bill and my pocket. im already seeing new 4090s that people probably bought to price gouge and are now scrambling to sell.

Blender 4.3 doesn’t have the “copy bundle to asset library” drop down, but it seems to have done this automatically, because when I open Blender they’re all there. Is this right?

Oh boy if I can get one of these... Honestly I think the improvement is really solid. Plus I'm being using a rtx 3080 laptop card wich goes hard. But man this would be like 500% better lol.

The 5090 is THE lowest gen on gen uplift since the 500 series, 2010!! Look at the blender scores for the 5090, 4090, 3090, titan rtx, titan volta, titan xp, titan x (maxwell) etc, and you will see a clearer picture JUST LOOK ON BLENDER'S OPENDATA BENCHMARKS I SWEAR IM NOT FIBBING ,from blender's open data website it has a list of every gpu tested on every version, the 5080 shows a 8% increase from the 4080 super. The lowest jump previous was from the 480 to 580, showing around 25%, next worst was 680 to 780 at 35%. Following, it was 580 to 680 at 40%, then 780 to 980 at 50%, then 980 to 1080 at 65%, then 3080 to 4080 at 80%, then 2080 to 3080 showing OVER 113% increase. And then the holygrail of uplifts, when rt cores were invented with the 1080 to 2080 increase being 270%. If you put it to a multipier, it would make the 2080 3.7 TIMES faster than the 1080.

Thanks for posting a level headed video about this card. I'm personally considering getting one for rendering, and all the clickbait videos have really gotten out of hand. People want a $1,999 card for $199. It's a 32 gigabyte two slot card. Good Luck getting something that's close price and performance wise from other manufacturers. Even nvidia's professional line is significantly more expensive than the 5090.
