Thanks Dug!! They are well camouflaged in all the veggies.....LOL.....I'm in 6 ft. of very clear water and to me they are reel easy to distinguish in the bottom cover plus these Calico Scallops are edible right from the shell without cooking.....These are some tasty critters!!

Timeless capture. Wes, you captured the feeling of being there so well with this video that it really feels like I am right there experiencing it with you. The sounds of the air leaving the snorkel, the eye level view at the horizon of the water, and you took the time to really show the beauty of a scallop close up. I really appreciate the effort you put into bringing the community this experience. When I am homesick for fishing in Florida, your videos are the cure.

Thanks Randy!! I've been doing this for over 20 years and seen the catch go from bucket loads to handfuls in this area but regardless of the outcome swimming the warm crystal waters of the Gulf, watching the flashing Pinfish and poking around the thick bottom grass looking for the elusive Scallop is still an experience that I enjoy every year.....Have a great week!!

I was expecting to see massive schools of redfish and snook and black drum in the grasses other than the scallops it looks like a waste land for me I can't hold my breath more than five seconds do they allow scuba tanks

FDF....Thanks!! It is a wasteland except if you find a small rock pile or reef!! I use to shallow water Grouper fish these small patch reefs years ago.....Now everyone has the numbers and the fishing no longer exists which is the way of Florida anymore....If I had a boat capable of over a 100 miles I could do far more than I do today!! I'm snorkeling in 6 ft. of water and I can still free dive in 30 ft. of water.....I gave up tank dives about 4 years ago.....Age catches up with everyone and I'm feeling the effects.....LOL!!

Nice video, Wes. I love scallops. Harvesting them yourself makes them taste even better.

GFF Thanks!! Scalloping isn't what it use to be but I enjoy just swimming around in the warm waters of the Gulf watching all the pinfish flash in the tall grass and manage a few scallops for the dinner plate!!

Wes, that’s the first time seeing a Scallop. It’s hard to imagine 3-4 hundred boats in an area looking for them. Looks like a daunting task finding them throughout all the see grass. Glad you had a great time, enjoy your weekend!

Thanks Phillip!! I've been chasing these Bi-Valves for years and what I managed to find during this trip was less than what I found at the end of last year.....I never miss a scallop season.....The warm crystal water and all the flashing pinfish along with the thick seagrass makes the trip worth while!!

Thanks Rande!! I enjoy scalloping in shallow water.....Mask , Fins, Snorkel and a small mesh bag.....Very easy in this crystal water with the flashing pinfish and beautiful bottom vegetation in just 6 ft. of warm Gulf of Mexico water!!
