Finally, I figured it out! I modified the Diamond Button SW Control for my 12.3 Android unit
The 12.3" Android unit does not allow to customize steering wheel controls, as it is an FYT 7862 unit using CanBus. All steering wheel controls are hence hard coded.
But there is a way to intercept this signal using 3rd party developed middleware and make it do something else in the unit. In this video, I detailed the instructions on how to do this using the FytHWOneKey.apk app.

    Great video by the way and excellent diy. I will have to try this myself since mine cracked. Does anyone happen to know the part for the last hose and L shape head connector that connects to the three way valve? I agree it is better to use a new one then utilizing an old one. Thank you.

      @@gohan51383 you can install the hose into the vent valve using a clamp for now… or you can try the old L-quick connect. And then if you find the right L-quick connect, you can do that later. I'm doing this job this weekend. Did you have to get a wheel alignment? Also, will only the Porsche Dealership do wheel alignments on Porsche?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 13 дней назад

      @@keithm5379 I didn’t get a wheel alignment immediately. Theoretically, you are not modifying any alignment parameters with this job, as you are not adjusting any of the alignment bolts/cams. Unless you remove those control arms. Alignment is a pretty standard process, and Porsche is not the exception. Is not like you have a race car. When you look at the Macan from the underside, is like looking at an Audi Q5, except the engine area. I have done coarse alignment of my car myself using a laser level, and I have been able to get it in the ballpark. You can have someone else align it, but I would use a reputable Indy shop to do it. You can always use the dealer if you like.

That hub bolt is one of them… but also the shock absorber bolt to bearing carrier is a high torque bolt as well.

    great video. thank you for sharing. I understand the cayenne gts and macan share the same motor. The 3.6 TT. Do you have any idea if this fix would also work for a 17 cayenne gts?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 24 дня назад

      I didn’t know the Cayenne GTS shared same engine as the Macan, but looking at it, they in fact look identical. When you search for coolant vent parts on your Cayenne (I just did), you’ll find that your engine uses exactly the same tubing PN 94610602660. So, I would think you’d have the same issues. Hey, thanks for letting us know!

    I'm still fighting to get the DSP working properly. Have you ever had that issue? All of my speaker play at the same volume no matter how I set the bias. I was told by the factory that has to do with the CANBUS unit. The CANBUS screen says I have LuZheng, Porsche, Macan which seems correct. Any suggestions? BTW, I think this is the Fiber Optic Decoder Most that you replaced with one off Amazon - but I'm not really sure. I bought that but have not installed it because it lacks the fiber optic link to the radio control unit that the original has.

    • @porscheDIY

      Do you have Bose or an aftermarket amp? The output levels and channel gains are set in the amplifier, and if you have Bose there is no access to it. I think you can have some control over subwoofer from the unit, but I think that’s it. The DSP in the unit allows you to tune the audio using a number of frequency ranges. It is more helpful than the PCM3.1 which only has treble and bass. I don’t think this is a function of the CANBUS. CANBUS is the interface with car functions. And you do have the right selection in the CANBUS. You can get now a SPDIF to MOST conversion box in AliExpress. I will post link later on. But I can tell you that the Amazon box, although it uses the analog input, it has more definition in its output.

      @@porscheDIY Thanks. I've written to the seller for help. They are the ones who asked about CANBUS but might not have know if that was the correct issue to chase. I've also asked about 3 other things. #1 - The right screen of the instrument cluster shows the radio station playing. If I push the rotary knob, I go to the next screen that should list programmed channels. But programmed channels do not list (they should). I can scroll the knob in one direction to change channels down numerically, but not up. #2 is that zoning does not work. No matter where I set the bias (back right, left front) the music always sounds the same. #3 is that My SIM card does not read. I'll let you know if they have any helpful feedback.

    This new radio unit is amazing. I installed a 10.4" unit 3 years ago and to get a much larger GPS screen. It was a big improvement over the car's original screen - but with some issues. THIS 12.3" unit improves radio reception, screen clarity, speed, volume adjustment between GPS voice and radio (you can make the GPS a bit louder than the radio), internet connectivity, etc. Very nice looking and very nice upgrade to my 2016 Macan.

You’ll see that in my video. If the connection is OK, then a few things you need to check. You need to go to hidden menu in settings (the one that ask you for a passcode), the passcode is 3368, and change rear view camera parameters there. If you have a single rear view camera and the settings are for surround, you will have issues. The settings need to match what you have. Hello gentlemen, please excuse me. I would like to ask a question after watching your interesting video .becausei have the same issue witth my macan S 2014... my question is... does this hose have a specific function behind the engine? or the gearbox back there conduct water??? It's strange to me why the hose has to go so long to the engine and back again... i wish you can explain to me ... thank you... 🙏🏼

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 29 дней назад

      This is a vent line. Its function is not to transport coolant to parts of the engine or transmission, but vent excess pressure/coolant back into the vent valve and coolant reservoir. I inspected this line with a borescope and it goes from the front of the engine to the rear… it makes a left turn, goes to the left side of the engine, makes another left turn and then connects into the vent valve. As far as a good explanation, I don’t have any. I have been driving my car for the past 1000 miles with no issues. Others that have done this have not had any issues either. If you are concerned, you can get a borescope (they are cheap in Amazon) and inspect the full line for yourself. The Macan Forum member that discovered this and develop this repair method had disassembled the engine parts necessary to get full access (including removal of intake plenum). When he was about to replace the tubing, he inspected the full line and realized that it made this strange loop without connecting to anything else.

I took the car to have the oil changed... and there I saw pink oil dripping between the gearbox and the engine... which seriously scared me, I don't know if it was the rest of the coolant in the recorder or the gearbox which is leaking between the gearbox and the engine... exactly like in the photo of the diagram on the forum where there is the red arrow below... thank you

    I bought one of these with buttons (not installed yet). Now, I want to exchange to this updated version for better ventilation. I think you were certain that the update with no buttons was a better unit. A couple of questions: 1 - it seems the factory vents are left uncovered behind the radio. Did you cover them or fill them with foam? 2 - to save space, why not cut off the big unconnected audio plugs? 3 - There is a connector with an antenna. Did you use that or connect the Porsche antenna?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY Месяц назад

      No need to fill with foam as air is completely redirected to new vents. You need to detach OEM ducts from main supply duct and secure them with a tie wrap. Then install the new ductwork in the supply duct. I didn’t want to cut any wires as it is my intention to take everything back to OEM stock if I ever sell the car or trade it. For the antenna, you need to use the wire adapter, from normal antenna connector to fakra. This is provided in the kit.
