    I've done many oil changes in both my 2015 Porsche Macan S and my 2018 718 Cayman S, as well as in other cars I currently own (2016 Volvo XC90 R-Design and 2020 BMW X2). And although I changed and documented all fluid changes in my Porsche Macan in video, I've never documented an oil change... So, here you go.
    I know there are tons of videos out there on this, but I wanted to put a different spin, more from engineering standpoint, and the importance of some steps I take.

      Thanks! Yes, any OBD tool we with Porsche access should be able to reset oil service. Let us know how it goes!

    I have personally changed my oil, clutch and gear oil, and rear diff oil just by watching your videos! I cannot thank you enough for all the extra work you do to film yourself working on your car. Do you know if there is anything special that needs to be done when changing the power steering fluid? I'm looking to tackle that one next

      @@porscheDIY ohh, I did not know that! So is there any preventive maintenance that needs to be done in regards to the steering components then?

    Thanks a lot for sharing such a thorough process! Can you please share links to the parts and tools (torque wrench, SOCKETS/bits etc.) you have used? The scan/diagnostic tool is a bit pricey. Is it worth or something cheaper is fine for oil change? Appreciate your advice.
    I have a 2016 Macan S in Massachusetts and had ~90k miles. You still recommend 5W-40? Thanks again!

      Hi, thanks for watching! I do mention all tools used in the video itself, the hex socket and the filter socket sizes. The bit I use to remove the undercarriage cover is a T25.

    Do you always use 5w-40? I'm wondering if 0w-40 would be better for winter months. Thanks in advance! Great video, as always

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve been using 5w-40 since forever in my Macan with no issues. First Mobil 1 (as recommended by Porsche) and then switched to Motul. I would not use 0w-40 now in my Macan due to high mileage, but see no issues for a Macan with fewer miles. I actually use Motul 0w-40 in my 718 Cayman S. It also depends on how severe your Winters are. I’m in the Northeast of US, and although we have cold winters, is not as bad in relative terms.

    Hi, thank you for your video, I learn a lot from you. I already ask it the video which you remove about ceratech. Ceratech note that it is suitable for wet clutch. And our macan is wet clutch. Does ceratech do any damage to engine or clutch. Thank

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  Год назад

      Thanks for asking the question again. As I stated in the video I deleted, Ceratec is designed as an additive for ENGINE OIL, not PDK Fluid (Clutch). This specific video is about Engine Oil replacement. Ceratec is compatible and miscible with all main commercially available oils. It adds ceramic and anti-wear compounds to the engine oil as an additive.
      As a mechanical engineer, I’ve done a lot of studies in the area of industrial lubrication and tribology. I had always been very skeptical about the use of off-the-shelf additives in oils with the purpose of enhancing the additive package already present in modern oils. However, after looking at the specs of LiquiMoly Ceratec, I decided to give it a try. I can’t say definitively if adding Ceratec every 10,000 miles is going to extend the life of the engine. I would argue that changing your oil every 5,000 miles with a good synthetic oil (like Motul or LiquiMoly) is what’s going to make the difference in extending the life of your engine. I even read an article the other day of someone that purchased a 2008 911 Turbo S when new, and since then changed the oil every 5000 miles using Mobil 1 - with no exception and no aftermarket additives. And the car is still running like new with no engine replacement after 360,000 miles.
      But adding Ceratec will not hurt and may help.
      As far as using Ceratec for any drivetrain component (like PDK, transfer case or final drive), that is NOT a good idea. I would not and will not use Ceratec for any drivetrain application.

      Thank you very much. Now I understand. I really want to use ceratech but worry it will harm my engine cause they mention not suitable for wet clutch. I am new to DIY.

    Does your launch X431 scan tool read off the oil level? Or do you have to rely solely on the gauge in your Macan?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  Год назад

      It does, but it does take the information from the same source as the instrument cluster. The main difference is that with the X431 you get an actual %, vs a visual guesstimate on the instrument panel reading.

    What about oil consumption on your Macan?
    I have about 1 liters per 3000 kilometers, gts 2017

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks! My Macan doesn’t consume a lot of oil, maybe a tiny amount. My level remains pretty much at same level throughout all 5000 miles.

    I really like you wheels. They look like the turbo wheels but nicer. What kind of wheels are they and where did you get them?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks! These are the Turbo 2 wheels (these were available for Gen2 Macan, which is different from Turbo 1 wheels available for Gen1 Macan). I like Turbo 2 better as well. You can contact RadHaus: SALES@RADHAUSWHEELS.COM
      He may not have them immediately in stock but I’m sure he will find a good pre-owned OEM set for you at a reasonable price.

    isnt supposed use oil with porshe c20 spec ?
    0w20 ?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  7 месяцев назад

      Not the Gen1 2015-18 Macan. The Macan with true Porsche engines require A40 0w-40 or 5w-40. Gen2 Macan with rebadged Audi engines have the spec that you mention. This is all to comply with emission standards. I would still use 5w-40 if it was me. But that’s just me. Hey, thanks for watching!

Mars 2024 will be the schedled service noted in her service book .. I'm confused how to find the right long range (30000km or two year ) c20 porshe spec oil , mobile c20 spec isn't available in my country and the local porshe centre here I don't trust their after sale services (with all respect but techs working there don't even know what mean oil spec ,, all theiy do change brand new parts )

    Wait. Was this reuploaded.. Or am I experiencing Deja Vu?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  Год назад +1

      I re-uploaded because I wanted to correct voice/music relative volume (it was off - and although it sounded well in my computer, it was not sounding well in all devices) and I found that I wasn’t showing the reinstallation of the engine oil cap (which is important). Rather lose views, likes and comments, but show the video right…😊
