      That depends on multiple factors such as, how stiff your body is, how often you practice and the intensity of your practice. Unless you have some injusy or medical conditions, I think with regular practice, you should achieve it. And even better practice would be to go for a class where an instructor would help you get there safely.

    That’s a straddle split not front split and you need to go into the split using your left leg(front leg) as oppose to pushing your right leg back(back leg) and please, point your toes. You are so cheating by not doing that lol. But otherwise your hip flexors are great.

    • @yogatrends564
      @yogatrends564 2 года назад

      In Karate, we call it Front Splits (you can call it straddle in other form of exercise). Splits can be done using front leg forward or back leg back. Depends on what you want to achieve. In this video, I am teaching splits to students who struggle with stiff hamstrings and hip flexor, often students twist their hips or can not move their front leg forward, in that case, to maintain the integrity of your hips for alignment so that they can do other variations such as twisting, Backbending, they need to have aligned hips on the floor, or front hip and back front of the pelvis as close to the floor as possible for stability, otherwise they won't be able to balance when they lift their hands for other variations in splits. Pointing or flexing the toes both are correct, when you point your toes, it stretches the quadriceps more and relaxes gluteus & hamstrings a little , when you flex, it stretches them little more before you can be in a position where you can control how you want you front and back foot. It is relatively easier to do splits for people to do splits in some discipline of exercise like various dance, ballet, gymnastics but it's not easy for a runner, or gym goers, athletes, swimmers, yoga practitioner who are not naturally flexible or have spent a lot of time practising much. I am trying to make front (or straddle in your lingo) splits accessible for wider range of people who dream to do this pose some day. Please reply to this comment if you have any further questions. Thank you 😊 🙏

You can also move your hips side to side, aiming to reach closer to the floor one side at a time. Hi Carolyn, did you try the exercise of arching back, Cat Cow Plank? That's one of the things that can help you arch your back when your back is rounded. All you need to do is make sure your head doesn't move at all while doing headstand from the moment you put your head on the mat till you come back. And try arching your lower back by moving your hips, that solves the problem in most cases. If you still have difficulty, you can take a short video of your headstand and email me link at enquiry@yogatrends.hk and I will give you suggestion on how you can improve your pose.

    Nice man. Quick question, I'm practicing the front split pose and I am feeling a pressure in or around the top of my tibia bone in my front leg. I have outward pointed legs (bow legs) a bit maybe this has something to do with pressure around my knee area there. If I feel this, I try to play with my body position and if the pressure is still there I just stop and try again. Have you had this pain around the front knee?

    • @yogatrends564
      @yogatrends564 3 года назад

      Hi Jerry, It is unusual that you feel feel around the top of the shin bone, can you try moving your leg little side to side while feeling that pain? Please try to relax your hip joint (by consciously focusing on relaxing it) and see if you can move your leg side to side from the top of your thigh (from hip joint) and not from your knee. This should help you release tension from any muscles or tendons that are tight and pulling your leg in diffrent direction while you try front Splits. If this doesn't help, please take a short video of yourself doing this pose and send it to me on my email, enquiry@yogatrends.hk I will analyse your pose and give you more suggestions. Thank you for reaching out to me 😊.

    Do you Think front splits is contortion?

    • @yogatrends564
      @yogatrends564 3 года назад

      How does it make any difference? Yoga or contortion both are ways to reach your potential in different systems. Asana (Yoga postures) in Yoga is about exploring your potential to allow your body to be the best it can be physically. In contortion, splits are some of the most basic thing that everyone does as one of the basic warm up expercise without any efforts.
